This is my opinion not yours..

    I love it!

First question... where did this come from and can we get a less compressed
    version? I know.. I'm nitpicking.. :)

Second question.. isnt there about twenty seconds missing from the cd
version? I wonder where..? I hope the shredding guitar solo...

Lastly.. is it my imagination or is there someone talking during the last
    ten seconds?

    there you go..

Well, YNM isn't aging very well, as I'm already tiring of it. I think it's
quite a bit too "accessible." Also, and I realize this was unavoidable,
the comparison between YNM and WAYN comes up. Since IMHO WAYN is much
better than YNM, it seems a shame that WAYN didn't make the cut. I'm sure
the rest of it rules though! woohoo 49 days!!!

You're close it's Strapping Young Lad. Headbanging is just the start of
what I do when listening them. If you liked Detox you'll probably like
the rest of the album, too. Oh the album is City. But my favorite song
is All Hail the New Flesh. There's a part where it kinda gets mellow,
but, is still intense(the "I'm so sorry" part).

hear Ocean Machine, yet? I know it's only been released in Japan. But
can one of you jammers give a review?

YNM is supposed to be 4:58, but the MPG3 is 4:32 is it faster or is it an
edit? hopefully JP's solo is longer in the album version.

for anyone who cares, the songs that didn't make the cut:

    Speak to Me
    Cover my Eyes
The Way it used to be
    Raise the Knife
    Where Are You Now?
    Met part II (hehe)

Actually, I feel the exact opposite... I thought WAYN was stupid and didn't
    age well at all...

WAYN is not much better than YNM, it's a little worse, but not MUCH better...

WAYN didn't have any cool drumming during the chorus like YNM does...

I don't know when FII comes out in Europe or Japan, but if it comes out later than it does in the US, I'd like to propose a trade for some European or Japanese jammer. I'll send you Falling Into Infinity the day it comes out in the US (I'll pay for S&H), if whomever will send me Wake of Magellan the day it comes out wherever (S&H paid for).

    2 points...

First off, You Not Me, and more importantly, downloading it... It took me a while to download this file correctly and playing correctly. After downloading it 2x in WinNT (lucky for cable modem making download a 30 second ordeal:) I was not able to get it to play using WinPlay3, WinAmp, or Xaudio (WinPlay did nothing, WinAmp played the first 2 seconds then died, and Xaudio played it in about 20x speed), I went into Linux, and tried 2 more players (amp and xaudio for linux), and neither played correctly. Finally downloaded it a 3rd time, this time with Netscape under Linux, and it finally downloaded correctly. Somehow, I think that the file was downloading as an ascii file, rather than a binary and was losing some stuff. Not sure how to quite fix it, but there is that problem (possibly the site owner needs to create a .htaccess file (assuming the web site is running apache) with the correct mime type). The file finally runs under all of 5 players. Anyway, don't give up if it doesn't work. (BTW, all of those players can be found at www.mpeg.org, as Dr. Mosh mentioned)

About the song... its cool... I like it, even though James sounds sorta differnet on it... The new CD is definatly going to be incredible... All of the tracks from the F4-96 shows were great, now we have yet again another great track with YNM. I'm already getting excited about this CD... I think it will be as good as I&W, possibly better??? From what I have heard so far, proballby will be better than Awake (not that Awake wasn't incredible, not that Scarred, LSOAD, Voices, etc were not incredible)...

Speaking of I&W, I finally got around to listening to I&W (the real one, not boots), and it was kinda surprising... missed alot of the subtleties on boots, even on ones like LitS, DoE, etc...

Anxiously counting down the days until Falling Into Infinity.

/me digs a hole thru his head from so much scratching.

JP is only 'non-existant' during most of the verses where he's mostly just doing fills...nothing wrong with that.

I can hear the keyboards quite well. It goes a little back in the mix during the chorus, but I can clearly hear what he's doing.

well., i guess it's a matter of nipples, i mean, opinions, but I found the production to be great. It sounds normal, and straight to th point without sounding sloppy...and most imortantly, it's CLEAR. I can understand what everybody's doing all the time. That, to me, means good production. > And who mixed this thing? Cripes... The band has a guitarist and > keyboardist, it'd be nice to HEAR them. >

I hope you're exaggerating here, because I can hear the guitars and the keyboards VERY well.

I'm a newbie poster (donning flame suit), but the discussion over the new DT songs has prompted me to post.

Remember people, we haven't heard the whole album yet. All we have is one song (does anyone know the source of that MP3 file anyway?? Is that truly the legit album version???) and a message about the content of the rest. The only people who TRULY know what the band sounds like now is the band themselves. Until then, we're all going to have to wait and see...

Besides, it's AWFUL hard to keep everyone happy... most people don't like a new album at first for the reason that "It doesn't sound like the old one", or the old "they sold out" routine. Bands (good ones anyway) like to PROGRESS :) into different styles and most new albums do sound different. If you want to hear the same kind of stuff over and over again, go listen to Green Day. :p

This is not a flame towards anyone, just a statement to be patient, and wait until we have the whole enchilada to listen to.

    Hey jammers,

No DTC here, but I wanted to tell you about my interesting weekend. I attended two Fates shows in Texas. The first was in Houston on Friday night. It was basically a disaster, and all because of the club. During the Fates show, there were times when the main PA speakers would crackle, the mix was bad, and the keyboards seemed to be cutting out also. The guys stopped the show at the end of APSoG Part III and said the PA sucked and they'd take a break to see if the club staff could fix it. They came back out after a while and just did the first three songs of their encore (Life in Still Water, Face the Fear, Monument), and, because things seemed to be going well (note: not much heavy keyboards in those songs), they tried to continue APSoG with Part IV. They got to the piano solo in Part V (at about 2:15 on the CD) and the guy's keyboard cut out again. (Either through tech problems, or because the stage was dark and no spotlight was put on him, so he couldn't see anyway). At this point, all the guys on stage just started laughing and throwing up their hands, and they left for good. Ray said during the show that they'd come back to Houston, at another club that didn't suck, to make up for this show. Note: this crappy place in Houston was The Abyss, and I hope DT never considers playing there. But anyway, seeing as how I really wanted to see all of APSoG, I decided I'd rather make a road trip to their next show to see it now instead of later. :)

By the way, I did meet a couple of ytsejammers at the Houston show. I went up to one guy wearing an IAW shirt (it turned out to be a guy who was in the LiT video in the Houston store signing segment!), and 2 people came up to me since I wore my ytsejam shirt. One was named John I think (sorry if I got your name wrong!), and he said he had seen Fates in San Antonio the night before. The other guy I met outside while getting stuff signed. He said he had driven in from New Orleans, and a friend of his had come from Orlando! Fortunately for them, they planned on catching the show in Lafayette, LA 2 days later, on their way back home.

For my part, the next day my wife Nicole and I made the trip to Fort Worth, and I caught the show at the Caravan of Dreams club. (Nicole doesn't care for APSoG :) It was a night and day difference between the two shows. The entire show in Ft. Worth was wonderful. I've seen another jammer's review of the show, so I won't rehash the details. I also met Brian Cox and "The Reverend" :) at the show, which was cool since I hadn't seen either of them in quite a while. Sorry I didn't meet any other jammers in Ft. Worth, but I was too exhausted to stay after and anyway I couldn't wear my ytsejam shirt 2 days in a row. :)

Oh, a few more details. While Ray was signing autographs after the Houston show, somebody asked what happened to Frank Aresti. Ray said that he had a family now and was living in Florida, and wasn't much interested in touring anymore. Also, somebody had an early Fates LP (Night on Brocken I think), and asked why they changed the cover. Ray said, "because it sucked!"

Well, there you have it, my Fates weekend. Oh, and after seeing the shows, I'd put APSoG in my all-time top ten albums list. In other words, go see this show if you have the chance. :)

I had the exact same problem. I downloadted the File 3 times, and always the same problem. Then I downloaded the file from

    http://www.gmsnet.com/~drkhoe/

And It worked like a Charm!!! GOOD LUCK . . . its worth it - it has been a long wait.

As for the song. I like it - hopefully this is the MOST COMMERCIAL song on the album, and the rest is more progressive. But the song is excellent, and I really LOVE Labrie's voice. Best it has ever been or sounded!!!! That just my opinion.

As for those of you already bitching, why dont you all wait for the album to come out. Remember the first track off of Images was PMU, and that was the radio edit. If that was the first thing you heard, who would have guessed it would have treats such as met, and LTL. Anyways, If you are expecting too much, you will percieve a GREAT album to be a mediocre one.

Also, in case you have not noticed, on my MP3 file, if you remove the 5-8 seconds of talking at the beginning, the song is 4:24, however, on the list from MP (Yes those are my initials, but I am referring to the other MP), the song is 4:58. So whoever said that there is no guitar solo, perhaps this is the radio edit, and the guitar solo has been edited out. (Dont you remember the radio edit of TTT, and the edits in that, I still shudder every time I hear those edits). So, kick back, enjoy the MP3, and wait for the new album, before you bitch about it.

On another note. I saw "THE WHO" at the Meadows in Hartford on Saturday. Excellent show!!! Daltry's Voice was excellent, and John Entwhistle is an exceptional bassist. If they roll through your town, dont miss them!!!
