    Some replies...

    First pure DT content:
The "Lie" video has been on 5 of the last 7 nights on M2. My
brother in law, Joe, has been watching a lot of it lately and he mentioned
this to me. Perhaps the You Not Me video (if any) might actually get
rotation? Even if it doesn't, I wanna see it. :)

    Eckie writes...

I use Elm... hell, it's FAST. And when I'm on the 386-sx laptop
under Qmodem 4.2f calling the net because the big machine is making CDs, I
    gotta make concessions. :)

Whichever one you go to will eventually get bought by Goodnet, so
you might as well go to Goodnet. I used to be on lairnet, then indirect,
and they both got bought up. Me, Mike Kizer, and a hell of other Zoners
are on it. It's both the best and the worst public ISP in AZ... fast, easy
to get through most of the time, and unlimited time and meggage (did
anyone say "FTP site"? All I need is the T1/T3 for throughput) but it's
buggy as hell, crashes a lot, and has server problems all the time.

Well, this was kind of a fringe detail. The CD labels constituted
only $1.40 of the cost of each CD, so I figure I'd rather people want a
buck and a half from me than they want $200 from me because my CD with
label stuck and jammed up their car stereo and it had to be repaired. :)

Uhmm... shhh. :) I didn't realize at the time that Brian wanted to
remain completely in the anonymous. and it doesn't say he provided the
material. All it says is "this CD would have sucked if it wasn't for ~"
and since Portnoy himself suggested the TDOW project...

Aftermarket value can be whatever the buyer and seller want it to
be. That's all just legal mumbo jumbo to protect its initial marketing
with yet another piece of gray-area law, and to appease the label. I am
working on a re-wording of that clause that will make it clear that future
sales are up to the parties involved.

I totally agree. The BE video kicks ass. I was stumble-bum-lucky
to find the laserdisc of this at Incredible Universe last year, and it's
been one of my favourite music videos since then. I need the vid of the
    entire Unplugged by QR! :)

What's the purpose of declaring beats as STRONG and weak, when there can be so many different 6/8 measures out there with different notes, rests, accents, dynamics, phrasing markings, .... ?

The only real purpose of declaring beats as being STRONG or weak is to help with counting -- but the counting scheme is totally left to the musician. If there are six eighth notes in a measure, it really doesn't matter if the musician thinks of it as two triplets or three duplets. Thus your whole STRONG and weak beat argument is really just your personal preference, and you really should stop trying to convince people that certain "beats" are "stronger" than others, because not only is beat strength defined by the individual, but where the beats take place is as well.

Wacky, who likes counting 10/8 as 5 sets up eighth note duplets with five equally strong beats. And ain't nobody gonna tell me that's wrong!

Can anyone tell me a tracklisting for the new CD and more importantly, what the bonus tracks on the Jap version of the CD are going to be. Also, how the hell are they going to cram 78 minutes of material on FIF and then have 2 bonus tracks on the Jap version (unless it will be another CD).

Also, does anyone know what the bonus track will be on the new Savatage disc?

Both of them are already ordered so now I'm curious.

Well I almost made the Monday deadline. Here is the current status:

I have finished all the guitar parts except the last halves of Innocence and Carpe Diem. Should be able to finish those over the next few days. I have had no time to work on the bass part, but I don't think I'm behind schedule on it.

The initial version will be for 7-string, followed by _2_ versions for 6 strings -- alternate tuning and octave switching. Also, it looks as if the quality tab version will be a reality, but only for 6 strings. It is much harder to do a 7 string (how many TAB books have you ever seen with 7 string? not too many ... Vai ... Awake ... I can't think of anymore). So all of you 7-stringers will have to settle for the ASCII version. Sorry.

Also, I can't think of future projects too much right now; got too much on my hands with ACOS (was I crazy to big the biggest song they had first?!). But how about projects such as: Bombay Vindaloo, or some selections off of WDADU, or the video Live at Tokyo. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see a project done on. The next one _should_ be a whole lot easier than this one!

First of all, thanx a lot for all those Fates rewievs - go on with them, I really can=B4t get enough of them!!!!=20 It=B4s sad that Fates had all those problems with their openers. On their European tour they had Omen opening for them, that was much better.

Concerning the opener Arena, probably not all of you know that there is an British band using this name, and believe me, they are AWESOME and have nothing at all to do with the band two of you mentioned in their Fates reviews. The British Arena play progressive rock at its best, featuring Marillion's former drummer Mick Pointer, IQ=B4s John Jowitt on bass and Shadowland=B4s Clive Nolan at the keys, just to mention the three most famou= s members (in Europe at least they are kind of heroes within the progressive rock szene). Arena are well known in Europe, they=B4ve got two terrific CDs and an EP, and their shows absolutely kick ass!!! So if any of you should happen to find an Arena CD in some shop, don=B4t puke onto it right away - make sure it=B4s the British Arena and not the American one and BUY it!
