This station rules! I just talked to a DJ at X105, and he said that not
only will Dream Theater be in regular rotation now, but they will soon be
in heavy rotation as we get closer to the release of FII. X105 started
playing "Burning My Soul" last Monday.

Maybe he did on purpose, you know he might syncopated the rythm to add
    some varieties...
Also in ACOS while JP is doing the riff(with that treblly sound, I don't
think it's wah-wahed), MP goes in totaly different rythm... But then
    they all come back together...
And in 6:00 there's a part where to it seams that the hole band made a
mistake, but after a few more listens I noticed that that part is
intentionally played like that... I'll post the exact(almost) timings
    later... If you want... :)

    Norge Norge!

Man, my AWAKE gave a terrible *squeek* last nite. I thought that was it but apparently it was just the CD player sneezing :) -- Anyway. KERRS PINK [I don't know if the band has been discussed here before as I just recently resubbed]. I recently got their 1993 CD "A journey on the inside" after hearing only one song on a MUSEA compilation of European proge (cheers, Mato!). Now, I am usually the kind of person who has to be sure about the CD before buying (altho' I've recently become more adventurous) but after a few emails with the band I was convinced to get it.

"A journey on the inside" is a 70+ min concept album based on a story about a young man Roy "who realizes that so far in life he has achieved very little" and takes a journey with Magic Mary to find out what prevents him from achieving his capacity. I'm not qualified to analyze the CD as I know so little about prog in general. As a metalhead I know there is very little, if any, metal on this album. It's mellow, proggy, addictive ;) piece of music with jazzy bits and delightful folk stuff. A friend (hi Wolf!) described it having a Pink Floyd/Magellan/Ayeron feeling to it. *RECOMMENDED*

Kerrs Pink is a 25 year old (!) band from Norway. They are on MUSEA label and have released four albums, the new one (May 1997) being "Art of complex simplicity". Check out their website at: http://home.sol.no/skarpsno/kerrs_pink/kp.htm

-- Anyone heard of the band THE CHANCE? I (or my bf actually) have a 6-song-EP (1993) by the band but cannot find ANY info on them. Two brothers (I assume. The name has skipped my mind) play on it and it has a funky + metallic sound to it (still prog...). -- Oh yeah. There's this band Eternal Erection playing in Helsinki... I'm tempted to go see them ;) altho' I have no idea what music they play or whether they live up to their name or not. *laugh*

    > Angel Dust is a more mature album than The Real Thing while not as dark.

Angel Dust is Pantone Process Black 100%, it's 100% C, 100% M, 100% Y, 100% K. It's as dark as you can get. I really don't know what you've been listening to. I agree that The Real Thing has an underlying current of darkness to it, but to me, it stands for the mellower side of Faith No More. Angel Dust, on the other hand is one of the heaviest, (again) darkest and best albums. It's also the most difficult album of theirs to get into, with The Real Thing being the easiest. Heck, that's where I began. It took two listens to become hooked to it. Angel Dust rested on my shelf for about a year. Even hanging out with the band and listening to their gig in awe didn't help me much back then.

    Let's rumble.

    Hi all

a good bit of news for the Kraut jammers: my trusty (and rich) CD dealer tells me that 'Falling Into Infinity' will be released on Friday the 19th of September in Germany, and that the Japanese import version with the 2 bonus tracks will be available on the 23rd. Just thought I'd share that one with you.

I'm still looking for information about the album by the Italian band Skylark - somebody out there must know something about it, so please let me have the details.

Hi, Does anybody know the release date for FII in the UK? I've just asked my local HMV and Virgin stores and they don't know anything about it! Also, I have found the DT Live in Tokyo video (the one with the flaming heart on the front). Is this any good? Is it worth buying (I know it probably is because it's 90 mins of DT video footage - but what's the quality/performance like?). Cheers, Dave (a UK Jammer).

I definitely did. Am I the only Boston-area jammer that hasn't heard anything, or are AAF and their second-rate ilk not playing anything from DT?

I took that iq test too... 143. There's another one out there that has a lot more to do with spatial relationships and visual comparisons than this one, and I got a 152 on that one. At least I'm fairly consistent...

Also - does anyone know the release date of the first single of FII?

Could anyone give me any info regarding this CaseLiner program? I have recently done some trading with a Jammer (Rogerio), and the tape I received in return had the track listing typed up on a paper that fit over the original tape insert in the tape case. (I have also seen stuff like this with previous trades with Jammers, as well.) It was done up very nicely with the track listings split by tape side. Furthermore, the title of the tape is displayed nicely in the spine of the case, and details such as Stereo/Mono and Dolby or not are displayed on the insert as well. Was this done with CaseLiner? Or was this done with a template for a standard word processing software package? Either way, can someone help me out with some info? I'd like to get my hands on whatever created this insert - it looked sharp! Thanks...

Well, my recommendation would be a Roland XP-10 synthesizer. It's got all the meat-and-potatoes sounds you'll ever need (excellent piano, organ, strings, drums, etc) and lots of other synth sounds too, and you should probably be able to pick one up new for no more than $600-700. It doesn't have a built in drum machine, though, for that you might want to pick up one of the Roland home keyboards, but the sounds are of much lesser quality (and quantity, the XP-10 has around 600 sounds). Not that I'm plugging Roland or anything... :)
