Volare is Italian word for flying, I think. I knew that those

Considering the highest score you can get is like 166 (at least, that's the
highest score *I* could get by answering everything right and putting in "1
minute" as the time), I think it's a crock... I mean, what if your IQ is
higher than 166? Then what? BTW, 161 here... :P

Another good onefor starters would be the Korg X5. It's more of a synth,
but it seems to have all you need to start out with. And even though it
sounds silly, look at a cheap Yamaha or Casio in the Sears catalogs.
That's where I got my start. :) I was perfectly content to play my Casio

OK, from another drummers perspective I do not here this "Mistake" you are=
hearing. what I am hearing is (in lay terms cause highly musically trained=
i am not) is mike going into a fill 1 beat early. Do yourself a favor=
count thru it starting at the begining of the song and thru that part, just=
count it in 4, I am willing to bet that when you get to that part and he=
goes thru the fill you will come out counting with him just as before. I=
even noticed that when I counted it MIkes bass drums even fall solidly on=
     what you are counting. =20

    and then someone else said:

    >Mike does make mistakes, and they are not that hard to find.
    >In Caught in a web, at 3:22, it sounds as if mike "forgot" that he has to=

     each other.

No actually what you are hearing is a pattern played on the ride then an=
accent with a snare hit and a splash cymbal and then the pattern where he=
movesd over to the HH's. No mistake just carefully planned musical=
phrasing. I wondered the same thing that you did about CiAW Until I saw=
them play it live and saw him do that fill. Anyway I think the reason it=
sounds so akward is that the splash hit is mixed in so low. As far as the=
WM mistake that you hear. that disk was never ment to be a bilboard=
release and to me has a very natural feel, almost like they rolled tape and=
said OK, lets get this thing done. As far as the stick thing goes, I mean=
come on here. Let me ask you a question, how many times do you hit the=
bowl when your taking a piss? My point here is that the man is human much=
like you or I. Lets not harp on the fact that his sticks knocked together=
on a drum solo in the middle of a song.

    thats just my $.02

    Hagai Sadot,

I have to certainly agree with you on prog drummers! I forgot Deen
Castronovo and also Mike Mangini. They both totally rock for Steve Vai!

Now, I have to disagree with you on Mike Portnoy's drumming. Come on, if
Mike played everything the exact same way everytime, then the guy
wouldn't be human. For example, you criticized him for "messing up" on
Surrounded on Live at the Marque. All he did was hit the temple block
instead of an open HH. That's not a big deal at all, at least rhythmically.

Now, I do notice the sticks clicking together on the RUSH tribute album
during his solo in By-Tor and the Snow Dog. That is not particularly
appropriate in a studio performance. (however, I would've dropped my
sticks, let alone hit them together, trying to play something like that!)

As for live performances in general, I've never seen DT live, but have a
couple live CDs of theirs. Mike adds some improvs to the original parts,
in some cases making them "too busy". Needless to say though, he is
amazing, and is hard to beat by anyone......

I request BMS (via e-mail) every day for play on WAAF in Boston. I
heard PMU in May during a midnight request show they sometimes have, so
I'm sure if all you other Boston-area Jammers hound them (phone calls
don't hurt either) they'll begin to play it. You can reach them at:

Well, the video/sound quality is good (it's about what you'd expect from a home video), but I find two things inconvenient about this video:

    - way too short; - the show is broken with song videos/interviews.

At least, they could have put all the videos/interviews at the beginning of the tape... :-(

No, finneus gauge is not playing at progday. They were "uninvited" by Peter Renfro, who put some finneus material (withough the approval of finneus/inverse) on some promotional cd's. when called on it, renfro (this is the short version, folks) uninvited them.

finneus -is- playing 2 shows in October (one in Scranton and in in New Jersey) so you'll have to come up to Philly to see them.

Well, since my hard disk has almost no free space after installing DOS, Windows 3.1 and Linux, I have no choice but use CaseLiner 4.8, if I'm not mistaken. There's also a version specially made for Windows 95, but I don't remember the number.

You can get this program from my bootleg homepage (you can get the URL from my signature). There I have put a link to "The Trade", which points to lots of those case liners, including Case Liner.

Nice that you liked the track listings. I'll make a program for Unix users that will take an input with something like an HTML (I'll think more about it later) and output a LaTeX program (maybe TeX) for a nice case liner (I hope)...

Hope this helps and if any other 'jammers have suggestions of what the program should do, please send me a message.

Perfection?? What in the hell does perfection mean? For you, a perfect drummer is someone who doesn't make any mistakes, that plays like a drum machine. So, you may think that Portnoy is not perfect just because he does that little mistakes. Ok, that's your point of view. In MY point of view, Portnoy is perfect, but if I would think in your way, he would not be. I will say it again: just because he does little mistakes, this is not going to change my opinion about him: he is perfect and that's it! By the way: do you want to know the definition of "perfection". Listen to Steve Gadd and you will see. I'm sorry, but, although a human being, he IS perfect. :-)

PS: Don't call people idiots. Didn't you say nobody is perfect? So, I wrote that, and I'm a human being, so, I'm not perfect. This means I can make mistakes and there's no reason for you to say I'm an idiot just because, in YOUR opinion, my "perfection" concept is wrong.

If you go back a few jams, you'll noticed I bypassed the radio DJ pawns and went after the bigger pieces on the board :) DJs are simply monkeys who do what they are told.

If you want to make an impact, you must send the message to someone who at least has some decision making power at the radio station. Also notice the compliment I payed him, on the great job the station has done over the years :) You ain't gonna get too far at convincing them if you attempt to ram it down their throats. Give them a chance to do the right thing before dumping them!

1- How daaaaaa hell can I get Ytsejam's back 'issues'? 2- I heard there is this thing on the net where several people can jam in real time, with General MIDI instruments. Has anyone heard of this already?

To answer to the ytsejammer who asked, "Never understand" is on ANGRA's "Angels cry" album. But "Holy land" is also worth to be bought. It's more original... This band rocks!!!
