"it'll have to be a hit before we play it. We only play the hits."
Practically made me sick. It won't be a hit unless it gets played, and it
won't get played unless it's a hit. That's just the kind of horseshit that
makes today's world go round, like the paradoxes:

You need a job to get experience, but you need experience to get a job.

You need credit to get credit.

We drive on parkways and park on driveways.

You can kill a homicidal maniac hated and feared by people the world over
and some busybody with too much time on their hands will deplore
you for doing so because they rationalized a reason for it.

It's not what you know, it's who you know... and who you know depends
fairly heavily on what you know.

To have peace, we must prepare for war.

Cargo goes by ship, shipment goes by land.

The two worst disasters for humankind are floods and droughts. One
occurs if it rains; the other if it doesn't.

And Bart's Classic... You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm swearing off radio completely from this day forth until payola
is put to death once again. It was killed in the sixties and music
flourished in the wake of the scandal. Now it's been back for a while, and
MTV is leading the way, and the youth of the world are just chewing away
like the obedient cattle they are.

Dream Theater "Falling Info Infinity", to the extent that I have
heard of it, surpasses Queensryche's HITNF as the Album of 1997 _IMHO_.
However my opinion is backed up by years of experience, and thus is more
than the whim of some groupie, and is instead a calculated appraisal of
the work in question. And we're not gonna hear shit about it after the
initial playup for Burning My Soul dies down because Elektra will run out
of payout funds and radio stations will only play up the album when the
tour is coming through town and they need to get people to buy tickets to
the show to secure their cut of the ad revenue.

Anyone who's still interested in music, by all means buy a tape or
CD player for your wheels and for your home, and listen to the sounds that
ignite your mental fire and set the blood surging through your veins. For
me, that's King's X, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Rush, and Tori. For
others... the sky is the limit.

    Hi

I've put a short sample of "The Dance Of Fools" from Shadow Gallery's first
album "SHADOW GALLERY" on Prog Or Die.

    Check it out.

On the official Angra site "Reaching Horizons", there was a link to another
site and there, you could vote for the best video . I've vote for Angra :-)
I was sure that every one know this.

    Sorry.

Mike Pomerleau has the right idea. We need to exert pressure on
the label as well as the radio stations.

It's not just dumb luck that DT's material goes platinum in Japan
and Europe but not here in the USA. The USA's retarded way of marketing
music must be fought against... but failing that, we must use their own
methods against them to accomplish our goal.. success (and therefore
creative freedom) for our favourite Long Island band.

How does "Flow" compare with their previous albums? I have the first three but haven't bought the new one yet because I heard it was more 'alternative'. "Parallel Minds" is a masterpiece... hey, all three are excellent!

I'll second that. It's definitely a pretty pointless idea to tell them "play this band because they never got any airplay and their record company doesn't support them". What would you do if you were the DJ and had never even heard of the band? I for one would dismiss them as another bunch of wannabes who even can't get their record company behind them. We all know that isn't true.

So, in short, tell 'em to play the song WITHOUT ANY COMMENTS. Many a time, if necessary. I know I am gonna do it in my country. Why belittle the band?

I remember first hearing of Dream Theater. A friend of mine (who mostly listened to indie and punk music) told me to check out that amazing band Dream Theater. I thought that it's another New Model Army (I love them by the way) that he's recommending and told him I really wasn't interested. Then, with an accident, I listened to a tape copy of Awake and have been hooked since. Conclusion: no need for comments, let the music speak for itself.

Vixen broke up in 1991 or so, but there has been talk of them reuniting. Which would be really cool. They've released two CD's, Vixen in 1988 and Rev it Up in 1990 for those interested. I like em both...good 80's female hard rock

Actually they changed the spelling of the word skunk, because in Brazil, people who don't know English would pronounce it "skoonk" if it was spelled "skunk", while "skank", according to the Brazilian rules of pronunciation, is pronounced like skunk would here in the US. They ARE a reggae band, ska has nothing to do with it :-).

Hi Folks, Well I was quite surprised today when I opened my mailbox and saw that I had recieved a post card from Dream Theater! It's basically just a promotional thing that I guess I got because I'm in the fan club. The back simply says "The New Album in stores Sept. 23, features Burning My Soul." Now the front looks like it may very well be the album cover! It's very "Pink Floyd-ish" and reminds me alot of the Momentary Lapse of Reason cover. It is a photo of two guys sitting on seperate little stands that are coming up out of the ocean. The two guys are sitting indian style across from each other and looking at each other with binoculars, even though they really aren't too far apart. These two guys are the only things in the ocean. Also, the view of the two guys appears in two circles to kind of give you the effect of looking at the them through binoculars. It's pretty cool, IMHO. Keep checking your mailboxes.
