There were once these black vinyl things called records. They could hold
not much more than 20 minutes on a side, so if you wanted to write a long
song, you had to make sure you didn't go beyond that limit, unless you
wanted to do something real cheesy like the fade-out/fade-in as in Focus
III and Brain Salad Surgery (which is PRESERVED in the atlantic cd version,
grrrrrrr).
Why newer groups still have songs from 17-23 minutes... look where they
learned their craft.

JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is certainly one of the most
influential works of literature produced in this century. It
essentially spawned the entire genre of fantasy, and literally all of
the fantasy published today owes something to Tolkien. Even for those
who hate to read, this stuff is brilliant and important because it
expanded the way we react to the written word, opening up the realm of
possibilities.
This relates to prog in that, in many respects, progressive artists took
a genre (rock) and expanded the way it can be approached and conceived.
The innovators of the 70s, Yes, ELP, etc., bear a great resemblance to
Tolkien in that they took a style, brought their own cretivity and
apporach, and changed the shape of the landscape.
Even if you don't read Tolkien, it's an interesting comparison...

Id have to rate an original Acoustic Dreams up there. Those are hard as
hell to get.
Any kind of pick or drumstick or sweat towel would be pretty valuable, but
probably not to sell. Those take effort to get, and you wouldnt want to
sell them if you had them anyway.
I managed to get a hold of an IW poster after years of searching, same with
an awake poster.
Other than that, you can get what you want if you pay enough to the right
person. I value ALL of my DT stuff, and other than dups, id never sell any
of them.

I just checked Ticketmaster and gave them a call. It's really happening, and they said tickets were $21.50 or $25.00 for the mezzanine (I asked her if the two prices meant there are seats, and she said she couldn't tell me that. She didn't seem to know.). It's $23 at the door (assuming there are any tickets left by then, which I doubt. After all, this is their home territory). Tickets go on sale monday, the 8th. The best thing is, I LIVE in Plainview which makes this very convenient (it sure makes up for not getting tickets for Irving Plaza:).)

I'm in Barnes & Nobles and Borders a good bit, so it's not getting to the bookstore that is the problem. It's that reading sucks. I find nothing more uninteresting than holding a book in front of my face, and trying to pretend that I'm getting something out of it. That's why I watch the history channel. It's an interesting way to catch up on everything I should have learned in high school by reading my history book. If I can learn without reading, I feel I'm accomplishing something. Which explains why I like DT - learning by listening.

He's the writer of some famous books about some strange mythological beings. His most famous book is, undoubtely, "The Lord of the Rings". He has other kinda famous books such as "The Hobbit" and "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" (or something like this). I've never read anthing of this, but he seem to be very famous among RPG players, since most of those people get information for their characters from some of his books.

I'm not really one to collect bootlegs because I think they're just a waste of money and most sound absolutely horrible at best, but I have gotten a sense of which bootlegs are difficult if not impossible to find. These are:
"A Fortune Pulled Under". I think this might be only on vinyl (?) and might be a show recorded in Paris, France sometime in 1992. But I'm not sure.
"Dimension Shift". This might be the same show as "A Fortune Pulled Under" except on a CD.
"Runes". This might be a portion of a 1993 show in Sacramento, CA.
"Images & Tour!". I hear this is a good-sounding collection of various DT demos and stuff....or something.

Within official stuff.... I think German "Lie" 12 inch is pretty rare. And also WDADU LP is.
