I've seen two versions here in Holland. I think both are identical,
except for the colour of the artwork. Mine is purple-ish, the other
is more green-ish. I got my copy for $2.50 in '91 (NOT used), after
listening to it on tape for two years. I couldn't find it anywhere.
A couple of months later I saw the green-ish version everywhere for
     $12.50 ! :-)

Mine *does* (Mechanic Records, MCAD-42259). Chris, is yours the one
with the "green-ish" cover perhaps ?

Odd moment I had the other night:

I was driving home from work and my car started making an odd noise, so I
drove over to have my mechanic take a look at it before I went home. I've
been going to this guy for years, and I hadn't realized before that I didn't
even know his last name. So I'm sitting in the lobby waiting for my car, and
I'm poking through the magazines in the rack when I happen to look at the
subscription label and discover that my mechanics name is....Kevin Moore.

So I guess KM got tired of film school, bought a time machine and a
transmogrifier, and turned himself into a 50ish car mechanic working in
    Bridgewater, MA.

And you wonder how all the weird rumors about him start....

Ok, I don't want to start some kind of "accoustic vs. electric"
flamewar here, but I just want to throw my two cents in and say that while all
of that is true, if you start on electric and IF you practice properly (this
probably means using a metronome) you will not be at a disadvantage. An
accoustic may force you to play "cleaner", but if your serious about getting
good you should be forcing yourself to play cleaner. It's also true that it
takes much less pressure to fret a string on an electric, but the extra
finger strength you may gain from playing an accoustic doesn't necessarily
equate to better technique on the electric anyways, which requires the lighter
touch and maybe a little more "finesse". So to the guy who originally asked,
If you're still even reading all this crap, I still say that if you listen to
mostly electric guitar, that's what you should buy. If you're serious about
it, you can get good at it without playing accoustice first, you just have to
be careful to put a priority on precision when you practice.

Last year I was on a committee at UVM to select a new student member of the
Board of Trustees. It had come down to two students, both imminently
qualified, but while most of the committee was pulling for the girl, I was
pulling for the guy. He was a scientist, a grad student...

..and his name was Kevin Moore. :)

Unfortunately, undergrads instinctively fear "old people," and grad students
somehow qualify (even though I'm younger than quite a few undergrads I've
known), and the undergrad was chosen. Ah, well, life goes on.

I have the following items that I would consider pretty rare :

    WDADU on vinyl
WDADU on cassette - promotional copy with no artwork but does include a black
and white band phote. Not sure if it has lyrics. Lists
the record companies address on it - Mechanic? It's also
been signed by the Kevmeister and John M!
    Images and Words poster
CiaW CD single - has the cool spider+web cover on it!

And then some rare boots of different things :

The Making of Images and Words - home video footage
John P and James doing a little mini gig for a tv/radio promo a few years
ago (1993?). Includes first (?) performance of Silent Man and great version
of O Holy Night with James wailing his head off.
Couple of videos with Charlie singing.

This is all I can remember off the top of my head. Oh yeah, I also have
    Kevin's cancer-filled testicals in a jar. :)

Also have an Awake poster, but I guess it's not THAT rare.
If anyone has a WDADU poster and that they'd like to trade/sell - PLEASE
    talk to me.

For my next acquisition I'd like to get my hands on a DT tour program.
I also heard of some Images and Words leather tour jackets that were going
around - I think they said "Road Crew" on them or something. I would
    KILL for one of those.

Cool thread, btw. Keep the DT rarities coming!

Other than the vinyl pressing of WDADU, my guess would be the original Mechanic US pressing of WDADU (especially if you still have the long box - I don't *sigh*). However rarer than that would probably be the Status Seeker and Afterlife promo CDs. As some of you may know, both of these tracks were remixed by none other than Terry Brown - too bad he didn't remix the rest of the album.

Same here. I borrowed my aunt's old Yamaha acoustic, really nice one from probably early 70's. Sat down with it a few winters ago (when I got so bored I actually started watching hockey) and played it about 10 or 12 hours a day throughout Christmas break. Yeah, I bled. But it was worth it. Of course, I'm still not very good, but hey, I'm a singer. Guitar is just a hobby. :)
