Hello everybody!
Just read the mail from Andreas quoting the info from Hardradio (or whereever
it was) about the XMas-CD and the single and have to say that nearly
everything's total bullshit. Thanks to Andreas for sending this to the Jam so
that I can clear things up a bit:

This single was released by EW Benelux and NOT EW Germany. EW Germany will NOT
release any singles yet, at least as far as I was told. Of course I hope that

Lie-Single was also made there, but sold in the UK only...

Just want to mention here that "The Way..." is another demo track. Some people
thought I did not tell the truth when I claimed that no extra material was

Well, this part of the message is totally made up and simply *wrong*.
First, it is the International Fan Club, not only an official fanzine.
Second, the members of *all* fan clubs (DTIFC, France, Netherlands, Italy,
France, Japan, and Germany) will get this CD.
Third, the CD will indeed be about 75 minutes long, but it will NOT contain
soundchecks, any of the unreleased demos, covers, the lounge-UAGM, or any
messages. Maybe you have to get used to it first, but it is very rare and
interesting material, that's for sure!
That's all I'll tell you, I just wanted to avoid any disappointments.
And remember, it is still not sure that the band will release Metropolis pt.
2. Prepare another petition ;-))

Fellow music-lovers
Just a couple of thoughts that have been spinning around my head since I re-subscribed to the jam last month.
1. Do DT fans and followers of other 'PROG' (Yuk) bands agree with me that the initial appeal of albums like I&W was the escapism value. The fact that they talked of ivory towers and beautiful women in bedrooms with shutters on the windows etc (well you get my drift..) was a great selling point for me. Don't get me wrong I really like FII (like not love yet) but I feel the angry socially-aware lyric of JLMB is something I expect from other bands. This isn;t to say I think the band should stagnate and become a parody of their former selves but progression doen't have to equal reality and it's perception.!!!!!!!
OK that was point No 1, now point 2
2. I wish I could remember the band and song that talks about people desperately listening to their songs and taking lyrics to almost be their own personal message, each time they recite and feel ownership of the lyric they build themself up into something they're not. I've noticed this more and more on the Jam, people inserting snippets of lyrics almost giving the appeasrance of ownership and even creative credit taking. I'm sure this isn't always intentional and I'm not a phsychiatrist (just a humble engineer) but it is an interesting point and one that I'm aafraid is increasingly annoying.
Anyway on a lighter side I would totally agree with the 'goosebump moment' nimination of the outro of Learning to Live......whooooooooooaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh wooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

Ya know... her appeal fershur only lies in her weirdness... of which she's got more than enough... maybe her fame is made by her videos of which some like "Human Behavior" and "Joga" indeed can keep me from going on zapping for 3 seconds if I happen to come across them on eMpTyV, others like "Violently Happy" are nothing but sick, and "Oh So Quiet" is shallow, boring-to-death and infinitely pathetic. As for her writing, well, let me put it this way, I'd prefer it to most techno stuff which is about nothing than doing weird things to equally weird 303s and 606/707/808/909s, but... My God... if I want to listen to well-made pop music, I only can second your statement that bands like New Order are a good choice...

good to see that Loreena is now getting the recognition that she deserves. But please do me a favour and refrain from comparing her to Enya: Enya is pseudo-new age, sugary, sticky, gooey, sweet, sickly, tacky, bland pap.
For those of you who might want some more of Loreena's stuff, I can make a seasonal recommendation in the form of her mini CD 'A Winter Garden', which contains her interpretations of three well-known Christmas carols, together with two of her own songs. Very unusual arrangements give the carols a definite Middle Eastern touch. Personally, I think Christmas can go take a running jump, but this album is still very good.

Hello all, I feel terrible for contributing to a thread about 'that band' but....
I saw a Rockumentary about 'that band' and Lars was looking back fondly on the day that they sent Dave packing. The way he described it was when they flew out to New York to record Kill 'Em All they went out and partied pretty hard the first night. They were supposed to start recording the next day. That morning Lars woke Dave up and told him he was out and that they had gotten him a train ticket home. Can you imagine getting kicked out of 'that band' and then having a train ride from New York to San Francisco to think about it? The only reason I bring out of this up was because someone had mentioned that they didn't think that Cliff and Dave were in the band at the same time so Cliff couldn't be the one that fired him. I think that they were because Cliff is the one on Kill 'em all.

If you have "Live Shit: Binge & Purge", you'll notice that the band members (I don't remember who, but I get a strong feeling that it is K___) are saying that with "Master of Puppets" they showed the world that they were a band that could do more than just noise. I don't know if he "stole" all of Dave's songs. He gave the credits. Also, Dave released the riff to "The Call of Ktulu" (which has his credits on "Ride the Lightning") on "Hangar 18". And he also put his own version of "The Mechanix" on "Killing is My Business".

Again, I think you are wrong. I there were some demos of their early songs with both Dave and Cliff. And, if I'm not mistaken, when Dave was playing with James on "Cliff'em All", the band had already Cliff on their line-up. I won't check this now because I still have some projects due to Thursday, but this will be the first thing I'll check on Friday.

Well, to the guy that told us that Cliff wasn't part of Metallica together with James, now I think I remember one thing from the "Cliff 'em All" video: the time when a reporter asks the band members their roles in the band. All four members are there: James, Lars, Dave and Cliff (and this is the order on the screen of your TV set too, from left to right).
The interviewer even asks: "When have you been joined as Metallica" (or something to this effect) and James answers "Huh... Since we started!" :-) Lars, to avoid this commentary turning the interview in a pile of silly remarks :-), complements "Which was when? 1981?"

Apparently I started a whole barrage of ridiculous posts relating to Fates. I have been trying very hard to defend the integrity of Fates Warning, since I think they put a lot of effort and poured out on their latest CD. And it shows, since I LOVE APSoG!!
I'm also about the BIGGEST DT FAN anyone can find. True, I've never seen them in concert, but I totally respect their musicianship and efforts.
However, I cannot emphasize enough that there are many IDIOTS out there who are totally blind to others opinions and interpretations. It's making both the DT and FATES fans (and those who go both ways) look bad, because of the flames flying around.
I think it's rather disappointing that many DT fans won't give APSoG a really good fair shake, but I can't do anything about it. However, that is not a valid reason for me to say that you certain fans who can't appreciate APSoG are ass holes. CUT THE SHIT WITH A KNIFE FOLKS!!! Or maybe it's gone stale and can't be cut??!! Whatever!
And the fact that I don't like the new ballads by DT, i.e. Hollow Years and Anna Lee. (TAMP is OK). And I don't like the sound production. OH WELL! So I think that APSoG is way better than FII. Oh well. That still doesn't change the fact that DT is my fav. band.
STOP all the flames, and try to be more flexible about others criticisms. It may actually allow us to see "eye to eye", rather than leaving us "scarred" by others flames. (whoa, what a lame attempt...)
Anyway, I'll wrap up this post now. It's gone from bad to worse.....

I don't know about this band, but here's a cool little story in the same vein:
"I am reminded of Frost visiting a school and reading his famous poem about watching snow in a field. Afterwards, the instructor then told the class his interpretation. I won't bore you with all the details but it had to do with light and dark, good and evil... that sort of thing. The instructor then asked Frost about his interpretation. I don't remember where I found this, but it's a second-hand story.
In response to the people talking about Mustaine's departure from Megadeth, etc., I have an excerpt from an interview with Ron McGovney where it's clear that he was the bass player at the time of Mustaine's firing, and that Hetfield officially kicked him out. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I'll send it to you. I'm not going to waste space here with it.

Well, a few of them were just me being a dumbass (I prefer 'Deth to Metallica any day), so don't worry about it. :)

You're right, stole is a bad choice of words, as they did give credit. Let's just say that they should have had the decency to come up with their own material if they wanted Mustaine out of the band.

People have mentioned the "Cliff 'Em All" video a few times. I haven't seen it, so I don't know, but as I said in a previous post, McGovney (who was their original bassist) claims to have been at the scene when Mustaine was booted and his talking about his equipment and such, so it sounded to me like Mustaine left before Burton came. I could be wrong. If so, McGovney must've been in and out a couple times. Just for everyone's knowledge, the original members were:
Vox - Hetfield Drums - Lars Ulrich Bass - Ron McGovney Guitar - Lloyd somebody, Mustaine
That's according to two sources. Who knows, maybe it's wrong.
