You are a big pussy. Your inability to tolerate hyperbole and
figurative language is indicative of your obviously insufficient
intellect and genitalia. No one here is going to kill Bjork.....but
they should.

Sorry to dissappoint you, but your friend did not come up with that description of
TSO on her own. That was exactly how Rosie described them at the beginning of her
show. I almost puked. That's the WORST description of TSO I've ever heard.
Granted Rosie's not a prog-head, or metal-head, but she surely could have done
better than that! When I heard Rosie say that, I knew instantly it would come up on
the jam, I was just waiting to see how long. 1.5 days....not bad!

I feel that I need to disagree with Kelly about the lyrics to You Not Me.
I have found them to be very powerful when someone knows what KJL is
talking about. If you want to get the most out of this post possible,
read the lyrics in your liners along with my comments...
The first verse alone really seems to capture a strong negative emotion
(not really hatred, but something like it. Frustration, maybe) towards a
person who is trying to shape another person's life. The song is
obviously written from the perspective of the person who is being
"altered", for lack of a better term.
The first little four-line "bridge" section gives the impression that
this person is used to this sort of attemps at impression happening, and
he/she is fed up with it. The last line of that bridge, "But I'm not
blind", seems to convey that he's a lot more independant and intellegent
than anyone thinks he is.
The chorus, of course, just tells about the ideas that this person is
trying to implant in his/her head are the ideas of that person and that
person only, and that the "receiver" of the messages doesn't want to hear
them. It also implies that the expectations that people have for this
person are way too high for anyone to deal with -- "There's not enough
time to live, and all that you're expecting me to give."
The l;ast verse tells about how the person implanting ideas is actually
putting the other person in a cage of sorts. By not allowing him/her to
think, he's stifling their creativity (sounds alot like the message of
JLMB). It ends with the idea that if anyone tries hard enough to convince
someone of something, it's possible for them to succeed ("One of these
days I'll believe it").
Sorry for the long, wasted bandwith. Reply often! Flame lots!

If you would read the MegaDeth FAQ you would see that Dave did indeed
put Hexes on people and even wrote a song about it. He wrote about putting
a hex on some guy and eventually the guy got hurt. He also performed
Wiccan "hexes" (as above, so below) on girls to try and increase his
sexual activity.
"In My Darkest Hour"--the basic consensus is that this song was written by
Dave when he heard the sad news about Cliff. The song about the hex was
not this one...but another one...and Dave did indeed acribe to "Wiccan"
beliefs, which are not satanic but rather pagan.

Mark, You will notice that I know call myself Bruce Dickinson. You know
I do email other people and it is for the purpose of humor that I do so.
Also, why are you so concerned with the format of the email? Does it
really matter if I accidentally sent a CC out. Does it really matter
that I call myself a different name? Thank you for recognizing my
comment. I am glad that you care for my well being.
Apologies to the other jammers for this comment. Mark, however, found it
necessary to bring fourth useless information and waste your time. If
any other jammers are offended by my actions, I am sorry for
inconveniencing you.

Ok jammers, I have had FII for a week now. I can give a decent review of my impressions of this album. A warning: some of you may be offended some may agree. I don't really care... if I diss a song you like that's okay; you may hate something I like and it's all subjective anyhow.
Dream Theater: Falling Into Infinity * 1 Star: it sucks ** 2 Star: worth not pressing skip *** 3 Star: i like this song **** 4 Star: this is one of my favorites
New Millenium - **** (love that stick... sweet) You Not Me - * (sounds more like Winter Rose than DT. Hah.) Peruvian Skies - *** (dig it) Hollow Years - ** (depressing) Burning My Soul - *** (dig it) Hell's Kitchen - *** (good filler) Lines in the Sand - **** (AWESOME. love the soulfull backing vocals) Take Away My Pain - ** (like it better than HY) Just Let Me Breath - **** (EXCELLENT) Anna Lee - * (depressing) Trial of Tears - **** (EXCELLENT)
Overall, this album has some really good songs. I like it alot. However, the ratio of songs that I like to songs that I don't like is not as good as their previous albums:
IE: WDADU -- Like all of it, even Charlie (who sounds good IMO) I&W -- Don't like WFS or Surrounded AWAKE -- Don't like SDV or Silent Man
Has anyone heard the b-sides/demos/extra tracks:
Raise The Knife (11:15) Where Are You Now (7:15) The Way It Used To Be (8:00) Cover My Eyes (3:20) Speak To Me (6:15)
If so, what single are they on and what do they sound like?

Is it just me or do you think that You Not Me is the worst DT song ever, musically, it is not bad, but lyrically, it is so mindless and just sounds like a stupid top 40 song.
"Watching you run is making me lazy"!!??!! I pray that they don't make it into a single.
**This is because the song was written by the 80's guru himself, Desmond Child. I personally think the plan behind this song was to bring in the 80's hit-writing-guru to write a song that was super catchy, to sell this album and save DT from certain label-loss. Something was lost because DC wrote a song for DT. You really can't deny that YNM is pretty freaking catchy. But, it's not typical DT. It seems more like the song is a promotional scam. My real question about this song is: I recieved a taped copy of this song about two months before it was released on the album, my friend made a tape copy from a .wav file. Anyways, the song started off with some guy saying "Dream Theater returns with their new album, Falling Into Infinity, here's the first single; You Not Me" I was quite surprised to see that BMS was released instead, when YNM was more 'radio friendly'. Later, J
I got a cool new bumber sticker yesterday, it says; "Discourage Imbreeding, Ban Country Music"

No! I don't think that You Not Me has the worst lyrics! Not the best, but not the worst.
Now that you bring it up, I've always liked ALL of the DT lyrics, until FII. It's like someone has been to the Chris DeGarmo school of lyric writing. (Empire - HitNF years). To be more specific:
Peruvian Skies - Great music. But "There, there it is. I swear he's gonna murder that poor kid"?! I just can't get into this. I kind of ruins the great music that this song has.
Hollow Years - Once again, great music, but I can't get into these lyrics. I can't really explain why. The verses don't flow well into the chorus.
TAMP - Ok, not to kick a sacred cow, but once again, the WAY in which the lyrics are formed just doesn't connect with me. I can definately relate to the CONTENT (It's been a rough year in my family too), just not the method.
Of course this is IMHO, and I can't describe exactly what it is that I don't like about these lyrics. Maybe it's some kind of third person, story telling method of writing I don't like. Maybe some English major out there can identify the difference.
hasta, BH
p.s. At least DT hasn't started a song with "In the time when Dinosaurs walked the Earth". That one REALLY bugged me, even though it's one of my favorite all-time albums. (IM - PoM)

I have to disagree. Not every song lyric needs to be obcsure or "deep". As long as it effectively gets the point across, simple is just fine with me. Of course, speaking of the Desmond Child connection, I also like Bon Jovi - flame away.

On Tuesday 9 Dec, I drove down to London to see DT and witnessed probably the best gig ever. I thought MP was going to kill everyone at the start. He threw drumsticks in anger at the sound guys and almost knocked half the drumkit down trying to push one of them!
But after the first two songs they were awesome. LITS is a great song to open with, but only if the sound is right, which I don't think it was. The whole band played brilliantly, so powerful for the best part of two hours and topped everything off by all swapping instruments for a version of Perfect Strangers, MP - Bass, JM - Keyboards, JP - drums, DS guitar. The only bad parts was the fact that they didn't play The Silent Man or LTL and JP didn't solo for that long but MP's solo was mindblowing, Great fun, Great gig. They exceeded all my expectations!
Great to see 2-3 thousand fans!!

I for one won't argue with the interpretation of the lyrics, or their emotional value. I am just terribly disappointed in the music behind them. It sounds like Bon Jovi. That wasn't a bad thing in the 80's; I had just as many Bon Jovi albums as the next long haired guy, but it's not what I expect from Dream Theater. It sounds like someone wrote some great lyrics about a truly personal experience, then plugged them into the 'Yuppie-Riff-O-Matic' and presto _You_Not_Me_

Well it's really simple mate, a 'yankee' or 'yank'is am American. We also have another term that we use when we are referring to Americans (mostly USN sailors), we call them 'Gary Goobers' don't ask me where this one came from, it's been round a while. What I do know that this term is not exactly 'complementary'.

Well, I just happened to ask a friend how cliff burton died, and it seems it has something to do with falling out of a bus. My friend then mentioned that the Def Leppard drummer *also* fell out of a bus and had to have his arm amputated, but he's still the drummer. So:
Why are so many musicians falling out of buses?
and...
What does it say that Def Leppard's drummer uses one hand less then he used to, and it's not enough of a difference that they need to fire him?
