I dunno if it's on Itchy's page, or whatever, so I'm just going to ask: Can we find out how many new subscribers there have been, since FII was released? I'm curious to see if the fanbase has grown at all, because if it has, I would assume the jam would grow as well. I just took stats, so I like this sort of stuff now. :)

    Too late. Ha ha!

Serioulsy, I thought most people on *this* list leaned(leant?) towards Zac. If that's not the case on the savalist, then that makes perfect sense, because many of us jammers got into DT before Savatage, and if I'm any indicator at all, would lean more towards a vocalist that sounds more like james. Zak doesn't really sound like james at all, but he certainly sounds less UNLIKE him, so use that subtractive rule or whatever it's called.

There used to be a guy listed in there (His name was "Rick Raven" or something like that) who supposedly played the equivalent of 96 notes per second. Now MAYBE he did... and maybe I'm gonna post a top 100 list of guitarists better than Jason Becker! (NOT!)

Actually, what Rick Audet asked made perfect sense to me. Since there aren't triggers on any version of ACOS that I know of, I'd have to question Rick Booth's remarks just as Audet did. Instead of clouding the issue even more with questioning what Audet really meant to ask, why don't go to the source and ask what the hell Booth is talking about? Let me be the first:

Rick Booth, what the hell are you talking about, in your comment above? I know of exactly ZERO (0) recordings of ACOS that contain drum triggers, and I have most, if not all, of the recordings available of ACOS. The only time drum triggers were ever used for recording, was during the I&W recording sessions. ACOS was NOT recorded during this session. Please clear this up.

addendum: I hope I quoted everyone correctly, based on the last message I received. If you have been incorrectly quoted, my apologies. Also, forgive the use of only last names, as it was the easiest way to refer to 2 Ricks.

Rick Booth, what the hell are you talking about, in your comment above? The only time drum triggers were ever used for recording, was during the I&W recording sessions. ACOS was NOT recorded during this session. Please clear this up.

I would be surprised if MP didn't trigger on any of the other albums. I am pretty damn sure that he used them on Awake, but only on the bass drum. 99% of bands that use double bass today use triggers on the bass drum. The reason for this is that as a drummer your left foot tends to be less conditioned than your right, causing uneven drum hits. That is what triggering does, it clears up the uneven hits OR if you have a really shitty bass drum, you can use it for single bass and replace the sound of the bass drum with a sample of a better one. Regardless, every bass drum note sounds the same. I am sure that is the case on most of DT's work, but again, I am not totally sure. This is not a defense to Rick Booth, because I too, know of no recording of ACoS that has the I&W trigger sounds. Why is I&W triggering different than the others? Because David Prater is an idiot and triggered not only the bass drum (which is ok in my book) but he triggered the snare drum too!!!!

Here are my rules of recording drums:

    1. Don't ever, ever trigger the snare drum. If you trigger a snare drum, throw away your drumset and get a Rick Allen special. (no offense to R.A.) 2. Don't ever stick the microphone: a. directly into the bass drum, unless you want a hollow sound. b. directly under the snare drum. You'll hear every rattle. 3. Make sure your heads are properly tuned. If you aren't sure how to do this, either 1. get a book or 2. find someone who knows how to do it. 4. Tune your drums in the studio, not before hand. It may cost you more $ to do this, but the chances are that something will come un-tuned before hand. 5. If your drum heads are more than 3 months old REPLACE except for the snare drum head, you can wait on the one. The best snare drum heads are the ones that are worn a little. If you can see through the head, replace. Retune when you get into the studio. 6. Never use a plastic head on a snare drum, only use ambassador heads. Use a reputatable brand. 7. Don't use Metal drumsticks for recording unless you don't plan on doing ANY rimshots. They cause a weird sound. 8. Again, DON'T EVER TRIGGER ANYTHING BUT THE BASS DRUM!!

Well over the years DT have actually been given some decent coverage by Kerrang. The almost 'legendary' scribe Derek Oliver who was for many years one of the mag's more decent writer's, signed the band when he became the A & R man at Atco/Atlantic (whatever, I can't remember). I think when he left the label theat DT started to have their 'problems' with the record company ??
