It's like a bass, but it has 12 strings and it doesn't have a
"body". It is all fret. You can see some pictures of it at
    <http://www.stick.com>.

BTW, can you people tell me exactly (I mean time, CD position)
when Myung is playing the Stick on "New Millennium"?

Thank you very much for the information, Roger...

I'm replying to the 'jam, because more people may be interested in this information:

There will be a DT show broadcast by <http://www.liveconcerts.com> on Dec 21st, 1997. You have to register (don't know how, yet) with them and also have Real Player installed in your computer. You can get Real Player from RealAudio's site, <http://www.realaudio.com>.

    Hope this helps, Roger...

Maybe we can get East/West to send them some of the singles. It'd be nice to hear DT on the internet. Maybe some of the obtuse "alternative" persons will get into DT. Open up their minds abit, perhaps.... Who knows?

Is there anything about the FII(which I haven't received yet, but hope to Tuesday when I open my Xmas presents) or about their recent concerts that would give any weight to these statements? I find it hard to believe that this is at all true about the five gentlemen we have come to know and love.

I had a trade from eons ago turn sour, and I've had these 3 tapes sitting in my office ready to be shipped out for many, many months. So today I opened up the box to see what was in it (I couldn't remember which boots I had taped), and I decided that instead of trying to set up another trade, I'd just give the tapes away. I'll even ship them.

    Here's what's on the tapes:

Tape 1: Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club show - complete show, not sure of the quality because I have 2 versions, and I'm not sure which one I used for this dub.

Tape 2: Vocalist Auditions John Hendricks: Don't Look Past Me, TLF Steve Stone: TLF, Metropolis John Arch: Killing Hand, DLPM, AFIL, The Apparition (FW) Chris Cintron: DLPM, ACOS James LaBrie: TLF (acoustic), LtL, TTT (cuts off)

Tape 3: 1989 Demos Wanted DOA, M:I, OHolyNight, Carry that Weight/Golden Slumbers, DLPM, TLF, Afterlife (TBrown remix), Afterlife-KH-Met-ACOS (all inst), Guitar solo, Status Seeker (TBrown remix)

I'm not sure if I'm going to give them all to one person, or split them up. The person/people who get these must be a newbie trader (which means you are trying to start a collection in order to trade). I'm trying to promote trading on this list, since there's been a lot of bitching about the work/time involved. If you're ambitious about trading, I'm here to help.

First 3 replies I get on this will be considered (provided you meet the above requirement). I'll reply and let you know if there were 3 winners, or only 1 big one. I won't reply until Monday. Have a good weekend.

    Merry Christmas, KAI

Imagine, if you will, a universe where DT's cds would sell 1,000,000 copies regardless of what styles were put forth on them; that is to say, they had a guaranteed sale of a mil, no +/- either way. Now that you have this parallel universe in your mind's eye, ask yourself whether the new DT cd would have included such commercial overtures such as "Burning My Soul," "You Not Me," and "Anna Lee" or B-Side filler such as "Just Let Me Breathe" on it or not. In a pure compositional world such as that, I have to believe that those songs wouldn't have made it. I will give "Take Away My Pain" the benefit of the doubt due to emotional considerations to the loss. I wish I lived in a world where a band didn't have to bow to label pressure (real or imagined) and to the need to harvest from the green fields of cash. Imagine a DT cd without the above songs, and do you think anyone would ever dream of employing the word sell-out in the same breath as DT? I think not. This has been a presentation of Kevin Madden's opinions. You can like 'em, or you can lump 'em. For the record, I like DT, and envy their talents and abilities, but sometimes I wish they were on an indie label so I could enjoy them more. Rehashed flames will be ignored.

Oh yeah, to those sad about Chris Farley's death, remember that you never see obese elderly people. Just a thought.

OK, after completely losing the Help DT Get Airplay page while updating it, I had to re-code part of it, and it is now back in working order. But the thing I noticed is that I only have 13 hits on it. (And probably 5 of those are mine.) Does anyone still care about campaigning to get more airplay for OFB? I know for a fact that requests for music have a DIRECT impact on where the band plays. So if they didn't come to your area on this leg of the tour, keep requesting them on your local station, start promoting them, and maybe you will be rewarded.

The page in question is at http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/5039/radio.html

Ville Rassi asked about what the Chapman stick looks like. If you want to see it, go to another of my pages: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/5039/fenix.html and click on the link that says, "Myung playing the strange-looking Chapman Stick during New Millennium."

I forgot to mention that I'd really like more input as to more information about listed stations with question marks, new radio stations that might play DT, etc. I'm also willing to branch out into different countries now that I have some time off. :)

    Bought some CDs:

Hollow Years Single! Woo hoo! Blockbuster's computer doesn't even show this as existing, but CD warehouse had one in stock. They also had Majestic Harmonies, if anyones interested. Haven't bothered to listen to either version of the title track yet (Radio Edit? Feh. ALbum version? Heard it on the album!) Like some things better about You Or Me vs You Not Me, like some things better the other way around. The Way It Used To Be == To Live Forever part II in my book, at least musically.

I was so Happy that they had HY, that I also bought Yes: Open Your Eyes and KTA pt. II. Haven't fully listened to Open... yet, but like the first few tracks, then it gets a bit mellow after that. :( Haven't even opened KTA2.

Lastly but not Leastly, I finally got My Dying Bride: The Angel and the Dark River. Ooh, cool and creepy. Good addition to my "Music for a bad mood" collection. ;)

Misheard Lyrics, old and new: You know, the first time I tried to decipher the "Oh, that this too too solid flesh would melt" I heard something along the lines of: "... torso, leg foot ..." where it is really "too solid flesh" ANd, speaking of Dancing Turtles, anybody else hear "It's all about you, not me. It's all about the things the tortoise said for me to be." and how about "Heaving the Lemming, the pressure keeps on burning my soul!" Well, this hack of a man who think he knows all about music better wake up. Genesis's last album sounded like something puked up by some aging old farts. Tony Banks lost his touch on playing, there are only a few interesting passages from him. Mike Rutherford is totally uninteresting, and this new drummer, when not sounding like a drum machine is trying so badly to be phil collins in his hay day. Their singer? God, I just can't take it. I am a genesis fan, but if any band deserves to get hosed, it's them. DT is far above their game, and Genesis just is trying to stay afloat. I happen to like a few ideas from Calling all Stations, but never pull the album out of its case./ I am upset, offended, and disappointed in Genesis's direction. And this fucker tries to assault DT? maybe he left during Big Wreck's set. maybe that's what he was thinking. Derek, a no talent hakc? Fuck him. He's probably a pop genesis fan. BTW, YNM was on 95.1 WZZO tonight, WZZO is an alan town station, which is strange for me since I live in central jersey and pull the station in fine.
