I found out today that I could go and buy 10 CD's for Christmas. I went =
to my favorite progressive rock record store, WaxTree, in Orlando to =
look for some new stuff. Here is what I found:

David Cross - Exile : This was released from some former memebers of =
King Crimson. It rocks and is very progressive, sometimes a bit tooo =
progressive. Interesting sounds and Excellent musicianship. Pretty =
much King Crimson part II (or five if you really want to be specific). =
And of course Robert Fripp is in it too.

Gallad - This is a French band that has a really mature style to it. At =
first, I was kind of offended by the French vocals, but than I realized =
how well they went with the songs. That music is highly polished and =
perfected. I was really impressed at the bass player's use of style, =
    skill, and restraint.

StereoLab - this band is not even labeled progresive, it is actually =
popular!! But I heard this and was just totally impressive at the =
ingenuity of the group. The sound is like a 50's old electronic techno =
crossed with jazz fusion and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I loved it! This =
group is actually a band too, not a bunch of samples form a DJ. Just =
check it out, that's all I can say and get their latest release.

Arche - Pretty much DT part II. I have heard of people giving good =
reviews about this band and it is all true!! These guys are really =
    talented!

YES - I picked up the new album. Excellent!! A little progressive, a =
little pop. Steve Howe and the new Keyboardist are great! What else =
can I say?? In my opinion, a great album since 90125 and much better =
    than KTA.

    Hi DT Fans,
My name is Chris Moran. I am a huge Dream Theater fan. I have been ever
since my uncle sent me that Images and Words CD. He works as the live sound
engineer for DT, and a few others (Savatage is one). Just a questiong to try
to get some responses. What is your favorite DT album/song? I don't really
know what mine is. I like them all. I have actually met the band, on numerous
occasions. I've been to about six concerts, and been able to go backstage each
time (except for the Olympic Stadium in Munich, where Elton John, Page and
Plant, etc. played). So I'm pretty familiar with the band members. Feel free
to ask any questions about them if you want. Just some info: John Myung is
really not that shy, for those of you who think he is. He is actually pretty
talkative. Well, I have to get going now. I hope to have some resonses.

    DT Fan 4-ever,

         -Chris-

Yeah, and LTL - they even go so far as to mention a DATE!!! In 20 years
people will be like, "the 90s bring new questions? jeez, that's last
century! People still had cars with friggin WHEELS back then!" and thus
they'll all ignore the message in LTL. DT should really learn to write
better lyrics that won't go out of style. I think from now on every single
DT song should be about love, because although it does limit their
creativity, love is universal so at least they can always sell CDs.

Check out Perfect Symmetry or Parallels. Or if you want a "sampler", get Chasing Time.

I personally like Perfect Symmetry and APSoG best. IMHO, they're a little more progressive and based on FW's roots than Parallels and IO. ('course, I also like No Exit better than IO).

    Hehehehe......I've been CD binge-buying!

My 2nd Savatage CD - "Handful of Rain" This is unreal, truly a great disc. I love Savatage more and more every day! "Chance" is awesomely unique, and "Alone You Breathe" is unbelievably emotional. Actually, it all kicks major-league ass. Also, I managed to find a copy of Shadow Gallery's "Carved in Stone." My first impression: Good Stuff! Kinda hard to describe. Puts alot of images of the medieval times in my head, or something. Any classic rock fans? I picked up Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Chronicle" greatest hits. Somethin' different. ;-) Then I went to massmusic.com, and ordered: DT's LatM (U.K. version), HY single, SM single, and the I&W Japan Video. Also- Royal Hunt's "Paradox".....can't wait to hear what that sounds like! Any input?

    MY EARS ARE HAPPY!

Hey. My ex-girlfriend and I were watching Conan O'Brian tonight (the one w/ Ozzy) and while the bluegrass band was playing she said, "Wow. They've got fast hands. But you know who has the fastest hands I've ever seen is the bass player from Dream Theater" (she attended the New Haven Fix For '96 show w/ me and D-man). I said, "You mean John Myung?" She said, "Yeah." I said, "Well, they've all got pretty fast hands...except the singer, I guess." And then she said the funniest DT line I've heard in quite a while: "Yeah, he's pretty slow. He can't even get to the stage on time."

P.S. For those who don't know, the New Haven show was where Mike had to sing the beginning of Another Hand/The Killing Hand because James got caught up backstage.

Hey Jammers, If anyone is interested in boosting Dream Theaters ratings a little, Take this heavy metal survey. http://www.ideal.net.au/~crowley/metalsurvey/index.html DT is already among pretty good company in their ratings. You will notice a little Van Halen & Kiss bias here, but what the hell, this page has a ton of exposure, and could persuade some of the readers to consider picking up a DT disk or two. The amount of people that have already taken the survey is huge. I think you will enjoy taking the survey as well as reading the current results. See ya, AL=85

    Hi!

Sorry for bothering you guys with this, but since Mike Bahr doesn't reply to me for one month already and I see he's reading the jam, I'm forwarding my own meesage for him (written : end Nov. 1997) :

    >> Hi Antoni! I got this mail from you last week, and today I have mailed >> a replacement packet with both CDs. I hope it reaches you soon. Take >> care!! :) >> > >I received the packet yesterday, but there was only one CD - TDOW. On the >label of the envelope you wrote, that it contains CD-ROM of value of 10$, so >I think you mailed only one CD. I thought maybe someone opened the packet and >took one of the CDs, but I don't know. Besides, I suppose the TDOW is >deffective, because I can hear the sizzle (is it the right word?) two times a >second during the whole running time. On the other hand it is a masterpiece, >great job! > >Bye,

The second CD should be PT, if you don't remember. Could you contact me Mike?

I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy, dreamy new year. Ytse on, Antoni Krasinski kran@ichf.edu.pl
