    OK Deth Freeks,
I'm gonna be a t the show at the SJ Convention Center Sunday. I'm
blind, will have a cane, and will be wearing a Ytsejam shirt under a black
leather jacket. Come say hi, goddammit!!! Be well.

Have any jammers heard of the group Galaad? They are a French =
progressive rock group that rules! If any of you have heard of this =
group, let me know, because I want to know about their other albums.

I was wondering... will DT use all the material that didn't make it into
FII for their next studio album? (I'd do that) If so, when it would be
reasonable to begin production? If so, what will EastWest say? And how
shall the new album be titled? And will I make it into ytsejam 3400?

Don't know. BTW, which is the current 'jam? Could you please tell me? I have no clue, since I'm in ack mode...

BTW2, Skadz, I'm not able to fetch some 'jams from the archive at thor.ax.com (I tried to send a message with the proper commands and I received a message from the MTA telling me that the 'jams are not being archived). So, where can I find old 'jams?

Are they being archived on some website???

Thank you for any information, Roger...

It seems the popular thing to do these days is report "FII" sightings at our large, commercialized CD vendors, such as Blockbuster and Tower, so I figure I should follow suit, at least somewhat.

While spending almost an hour and a half at Tower looking for the right CDs to spend my $100 gift certificate on, I glanced at their listeing stations on the side wall of the store, and low and behold, FII. It surprised me, to say the least. A woman went up to listen to the station (I was listening to Loreena McKennit on the station next to it), and she was ooing and ahing over some dance CD on the same station as FII...I was so eager to convert yet another to our forces, but I figured that if she was so interested in a techno CD, that she probably wouldnt enjoy DT.

Well, thats about the extent of my DTC for this post. I managed to pick up Enchant's A Blueprint of the World, and I know that in about two weeks I will LOVE this band. Too bad that when Mosh pointed them out to me at The Edge that I didnt really know who they were. I had heard of them, but never heard them. These guys have all the complex melodic qualities that I love in DT. The singer sounds like Stevie Wonder to me. Anyone else notice this? They also had about 15 copies of Wounded, but I figured that I would go back for that CD if I really liked ABOTW.

Also picked up Loreena McKennit's A Book of Secrets. A few years ago I walked into some store in Colorado that was playing her, and immediately wanted to know who the woman was that was playing over the soundsystem, because listening to it was making the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, it was so beautiful. Ive been wanting to get one of her CDs ever since then. Anything that gives me shivers the first time I listen to it HAS to be good.

Picked up 3rd EyeBlind, the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, a classic that belongs in EVERYONES collection. And APSOG. My first Fates CD. Im a pretty open listener, though, so Im not worried. Ill listen to it a good ten times before I make my decision.

Hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas. Bunch of gift certificates and a new pair of headphones, whatelse could an audiophile need?

    haha

    Jon

i got the rudess/morgenstein cd for christmas, can anyone tell me the curcumstances why they thanked dream theater and crew on the jacket liner? as far as the cd it's pretty good, but i also get simon phillips "another lifetime" and if anyone is into the jazz/fusion sound check out this cd, the musicianship is outstanding. also, i've been reading all of the comments on the ahead/eston metal drumsticks, i'll take a pair of vic firth anyday over the metal ones, i can replace sticks for about $7.00, if i break a cymbal it's a different story.

If you do want an alternate version of the Simpson's theme, there's a rather wacky version on Birdsongs of the Mesozoics' "Pyroclastics". (Along with some other highly depressing/disturbing instrumental prog.) DT fan warning: BotM *are* prog, but are *not* metal by any stretch of the imagination.

They opened some shows for Dream Theater (for instance, the Malibu Beach, 28/12/95, show, "Home for the Holidays" mini tour).

Hello all, as some of you know, I'm from the pretty neato state of New Hampshire. My buddy Tony (a fellow jammer) was surfing around when he somehow (I don't know how) came upon a new band called "Crushed". They are from Arizona (I think) anyways, he sent them an e mail asking where he could get a copy of the CD. It turns out that they will be releasing their album (self titled) nationwide in the next month. They were so kind that they sent him a free copy with a small note that said "Merry Christmas" I managed to get a good listen to this band! They FUCKING ROCK THE HOUSE!! They are like (but still have their own sound) Tool, Alice in Chains and Korn...smeared together with a singer who can sing not just scream and sound like an asshole. It's really cool shit. When they come out, I FULLY recommend this album. Also, I figured while I was on the subject of new bands, SEVENDUST. I got this album about 2 months ago...VERY COOL. I recommend this highly as well if you are into talented metal. GOOD SHIT! Later, J

Maybe I'll write about it one day, but I'm sure everyone's already heard enough about the show. BTW Happy Holidays everyone!

Yeah, Phoenix, specifically. They've been around awhile, and they've been featured in our local free newspaper, the New Times, and they've also been featured in Metal Edge magazine (once, I think). I've only heard them once, and they sounded pretty metal to me. I still haven't gone out and picked up their album(s) yet, even though I see them at the local Zia Records all the time.

Peace and love, and good happiness stuff, ~Vince

I am a *little* behind on jams... and just saw some stuff listed as rare... well... so far nobody has mentioned *THE* official DT promo item.... ehich happens to be Dream Theater hourglass... these babies are some kind of promo stuff for FII, only seen a small picture of one in Finnish music mag... I tried to get one from Warner music Finland, but they had run out of those :( I also have HY promo signed by Mike, Derek and Derek's shoe, but I don't think it is such novelty...
