You must realize that all of us are in different time zones.
How many more dorks are going to post this?

Chill out! I'm totally kidding, here.
I posted the same thing last year. :)

If you are celebrating a holiday around this time of year,

Yes. As far as I know, Derek will play Keyboards too.
Carl Cadden James (the mastermind from Shadow Gallery) will be the producer.
Some kind of Dream Theam !!! It will be great.

The CD should be out in March.

    Just a quick NDTC query...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before on the Jam, but after
purchasing my copy of Visions by Stratovarius, I have noticed that
tracks 1 and 2 (Black Diamond & Kiss Of Judas) are printed in incorrect
order in the CD sleeve and back of the CD cover.

Is this a standard misprint or was I the only unfortunate individual ?

    Thanks,

    Luke.

    Hello Graham.

Why are you pissed off 'bout something that you get for FREE ?
There were some things that hold up the production of this years' X-mas cd.
Like: the last European Tour and some problems with the BUMA STEMRA
(copyright organization in Holland) You don't know how much sleepless nights
this cd have costed us at ALL the official Fanclubs. Do you really think
that (in think in your case) Neil Elliott sents out an mailing per post to
inform all his subscribers that the FREE X-mas cd will be a little late.
Man, you really don't have a clue !

Anyway the cd's are pressed and well. So i think that you can expect your
copie (altough al littler later) pretty soon.

Would've had a more profound effect if I HAD awaken at 6:00, apparently I
didn't set the alarm and woke up at 8:30 (d'ohhhhhh!!! :) Oh well, have to
    try it again next year...

Merry Christmas to all the Jammers worldwide :)

The Doc started a good thread.

    This year I saw:
    3 Fates/Divine Regale
    1 Savatage
    1 Bruce Dickinson
1 DT (almost 2, as the Fix for 96 shows were about a year ago)
1 Powermad - 3 days (Quiet Room, Soundscape, etc.)
    8 or 9 Division ;-)
    1 Overkill

It was a good year for Prog Metal. Maybe I even forgot a few shows...
was Yngwie last winter? Time flies...

    >what do you think was on DT's mind when they wrote metropolis, how they're
    gonna
    >focus on bringing through the story, or how they're gonna show off with
    the middle
    >section (no flames required, thank you very much ;)?

    No flames here man...
I think what was on their mind was creating a peice that they knew
was solid both from a lyrical and compositional standpoint. I have serious
doubts that they were standing around going "wow, this instrumental
is really gonna blow Seroussi away!". I do believe that the meaning of
the song was just as important to them as the musical masterpiece itself.
Why would they sacrifice the quality of one for the other? The story
behind Metropolis is not just some chicken scratch they came up with
to keep James busy, it has a strong meaning.

The guys are focused on creating songs that they feel strongly about,
not worrying about what people are going to be ore impressed with. Don't
kid yourself into thinking it's an ego thing with the instrumentals and
that lyrics are just there to take up space. If that were the case than
the lyrics would be repetitive rather than lengthy. They're there because
they make the song whole and the lyrics/music compliment each other, while
helping the listener bring themselves to the meaning of it.

    >My point is, it seems like they don't put as much thought into the lyrics
    as they
    >put into the music; the focus of their songs is on the music, not on the
    message.
    >yes, the lyrics might be moving and thoughtful, but they're not the most
    important
    >thing about the song...

I'm not flaming this guys post at all, in fact I think it's cool
that he brought this up even though I disagree with him.

Ya see, I'm one of those fans that think DT's lyrics on most
of the songs are just important and as thoughtful as the music
itself, but the post quoted above just goes to show you how much
DT really can appeal to anyones personal preference. I can't blame
the guy for getting more out of the music than he does the lyrics,
the important part is that he is a fan.

So, I have to politely disagree with him and just say that "hey bud,
maybe you just aren't getting the message" :) I personally think their
lyrics are incredible and that they represent a definite mindset and
some deep concepts and points of view on the human subconcious and
emotion. But by the same token, I understand that not everyone picks
up on the message, but they may still love the music.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakuh (sp?), Happy Quansa, and...
    PARTY ON WAYNE! :)

Interesting idea...a song that *is* a self-fufilling prophecy. If the song
fails to become a DT standard, then in essence, it has still succeeded by
becoming an example of what the song is about!

And people think the lyrics don't mean anything. :)

Oh yes I do more than you. No he could posted a message to the #ytsejam mailing list telling everyone of the delay or got it put up on one of the DT web sites the one run by Mark Bredius, "Under A Cyber Moon'. How hard is this, or you could have done the same thing instead of trying to rub my face in it. > Anyway the cd's are pressed and well.
