Nobody knows, not even the band, when the new album will be done.
The band has _nothing_ to do right now. They're so bored they're writing
more material... they could do 2 albums at this rate. I can't understand
why their management isn't getting them into the studio. With all that's
happened, it would probably be just fine if Portnoy produced the album
himself. After all, he co-produced Working Man.

Hi all.
I've not read the jam for ever so long, and to be honest I never really
had the time to read it properly anyway...:(
But here's a question for you. As I'm reading a lot of English literature
these days (studies), I came across a passage the other day, starting with
"six o'clock on a christmas morning" and ending w/ "I know all about the
honour of God Mary Jane". Of course, I was close to wild with exitement.
The passage was from James Joyce's short story "the Dead", in his book
"Dubliners". Now, I reckon this has been discussed here before, so I hope
you could enlighten me a bit on WHY they used this passage in the song
6.00??
I've always been curious about that sample - it sounded so ... I don't
know ... it creates images when I hear it ... it is sort of mystical,
laden with meaning hidden to us mere mortals... In short, it SOUNDS very
good in the song. But to me, when reading the novel IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY
SENSE. The passage seems not very important in the short story at all, and
is not very 'mystical' or laden with deeper meaning (mind you; I'm not a
literary critic!! Good chances of being wrong!), and it seems DT have
just snipped a little piece of conversation out of its context (I know -
that's what samples are...).
So I wonder if there has been any discussions on the jam on this, and if
you know more than I. I guess I was a little disappointed to read the
words in such a different context, where they did not at all produce the
images & thoughts as they do in the song.
If anyone are interested, I can type the passage for you, or give
instructions on where to look for it in the story.
Any comments are appreciated.

Okay, in the order they appear, I address:
1. Maybe The Wheel of Fortune updated their theme, because what I hear (and
many others on this list) in Scarred is very close the the theme I'm
familiar with. For me, it sticks out like a really sore big-toe.
2. I would like to check out the specific part of LSoaD, but I've been
deleting Jams after I read them. So if you could, please restate the
location of what you hear as the WoF theme.
3. I'm terribly sorry about offending you with my deafness reference. It was
supposed to be a lighthearted hyperbole, kind of like "I've told you a
million times", you know, like that. I should have put a smilely face after
it. It didn't cross my mind that someone might be so sensitive to the
comment. I meant no harm. Again, I apologize.

This is worth wondering about. TDoE is on Why Not? records. They don't have
a web site, so I called them in Italy a few months ago, and the guy said
they've closed shop. Unless the guy was just trying to cover his ass, I
think US retailers are slowly selling what's left of this gem at a regular
price. And I'll admit, it's not the easiest to find, if you don't know where
to look. Rumor has it that THE I&W tour boot to get is either
Mission:Impossible or Dream In Progress, but I haven't heard those yet to
know for sure.

You hear the "Wheel" theme on Lifting Shadows? I hear it blatantly midway
through Scarred (I don't recal the time) I asked John Petrucci about it in
'94 in Denver, CO, and he laughed and said that some other people had pointed
it out, and it's purely coincidental. Actually, he thought it sounded like
"The Price Is Right"

Hey, y'all PLEASE do not buy and bootegs of this band. They are totally
incredibe, and they allow taping at their shows. If you check out the Phish
Phorum online, you will have no problem finding people who will copy their
boots for you. They exist for every show. Please don't support assholes who
try to sell this stuph. BTW, the best way to appreciate their music is to
see it live, because their lights go so well with the music, but if an audio
recording is all you're after, boots are the way to go with this band. If
you only listen to their albums (although they ARE great), you'll think that
they're a little corny.

First impressions?.............Mmmmmmmm....a little bit disappointed one.
Some nice songs and some not-too-bad songs. I like 1st single 'Daisy Jayne'
,'Month Of Sundays' and 'Sunless Stars'. Those songs are rich in melody,but
half of this album is a bit dull....... This ain't their best album,but
better than "Realized Fantasy" album.

~2 years ago as a novice Y'Jammer, this was the first question I asked. No
has yet given me a good answer, except to say that's how they (DT) wanted
to do it. Some compared it to that song on the Beatles' *Abbey Road* that
also ends abruptly (*I Want You (She's So Heavy* or *Carry that Weight*) I
can't remember which one off the top my head).

Also "lost in the sky" is a great boot. I don't have it, but it's a 2CD
set from Milan, Italy (11/15/93). I think it's from the board as well. One
jammer who copied me some songs off of it told me that he thinks it's
better than TDOE (soundwise).
I tried finding this about a year ago 'cause it has some cool stuff on it
(puppies on acid, march of the tyrant, OAMOT, barfbag, etc.). But I never
found it anywhere. Then Mike Bahr did WDATU which basically had all those
cool songs on it anyway, so I got that instead.
Hey Mike: BTW...kick ass job on that disc. I think it's my favorite Bahr
disc.

i have lost in the sky, and i've heard TDoE.. i would prefer to own TDoE for
a few tracks i crave, but LitS i would agree has the superior sound quality,
you can also find the 2 disc milan 93 version which sounds the same but is
done by a dif boot company for around 30 bucks used, thats how i got it.

Boy Sgt., you're a MAJOR asshole aren't ya (no pun intended). The price he's
asking for this set is a fair price (I paids $50 for mine). You're post
was highly uncalled for. How would you like it if you were selling something
and someone posts and says "you're ripping people off because I can get it
for less." Personally I don't give two fucks what you paid for your discs and
I'll be sure to buy nothing that you might ever sell. And just TRY selling
something on this list and I'll make sure people NEVER forget the shit you
pulled here.
