WDADU was released in 1989 not 87 and I & W came out in 1992. It was three
years but they had to change singers in that time frame not just get a new
producer. I know that Kevin's death was a sad thing, but he died a while ago
and DT needs to find a new producer and get off their butts and get the damn
thing recorded out already while it's still possible to get it out in 1997.

They originally wanted Kevin Gilbert to produce the new album. They sent
him a couple of demos and such, and then he passed away about a week
    after their initial contact.

Incidentally, he did some mixing on Spock's "Beware of Darkness." I can
tell you now that I've heard his work that this was quite a loss.

Oh, this one was just a joke. It was written intentionally to offend. Anthrax' lyrics are usually exactly the opposite.

Absoultely. Anywhere you can find Magna Carta stuff, you should be able to find this. I got it at The Music Arcade on Long Island when I was home for xmas break. *Great* store, btw, for anyone that's in the area.

I would venture to disagree, only because Spock's is from CA and Radiant is in TN. Although, it *would* be cool if they had their own label. :)

Just ta let ya know - Alan's the keys/guitar player. Dave Meros is the bassist. But I agree 100%. These albums have one of the nicest bass sounds I've ever heard.

In english it means he cut off his oxygen supply while jerking off and didn't return his normal breathing in time and suffocated.

    >> Chris, >> Fret not! Just bullshit rumours as usual.... > > I hope that puts everyone's mind at ease regarding yet another ridiculous > rumor.

This didn't really seem to satisfy me. Where there are bullshit rumors, there is usually some discontent brewing somewhere, right ?? Maybe something that gets blown out of proportion, but *something*. And, this is hardly the first time for this same rumor. I would guess that something could easily be up although I hope that I am wrong.

This may be stating the obvious, but for all of his virtues (and I am a big fan - really), I dont think that they consider James to be 100% committed to the band. Reference the recent fanclub fanzine interview with JP specifically requesting more of James' input on the writing in the future. And the x-mas CD which requested more of a band presence of James, if even in a humorous air.

And it seems to me that James is one unhappy camper. In his interview in the fanclub fanzine, he came across as really bitter, defensive and insecure. Very unlike the personality of the other members from the (little) that I have seen and what has been told many times by others. I was surprised that this interview wasn't really discussed on the jam that much because it *was* DT content. Bitter and unhappy people normally seek change. I wish that things seemed different, but it would be unwise for DT to not have a backup plan.

I'm REALLY bored at work so I have to make a quick comment...

picked up Steve Vai's "Flex-able" the other day for $8....I think it really has to grow on me, and I understand that this was his first album, recorded with some pretty ancient equipment, but I must say that the transition from this album to "Passion & Warfare" (which I assume was his next work) is like night & day.....it is definitely an album I'd only recommend to really devote Vai fans.....but it is cool to recognize some licks that were used in "passion".

just thought I'd throw this piece of info. for those who expect the typical, unreal Vai.....

definately.. i got it just a few weeks ago, at first i was so glad i'd only paid five bucks for it.. but now i really really like the disc... its totally experimental, remember vai was the guy who played with zappa now, and just all over the place... not exactly the type of stuff you sit back to listen to as back ground music, but really cool when you're paying attention.. i'd recommend checking it out... ~Rip

Oh, it's nothing like that. Besides, I'm 24 and I live in a different state than my mother. :) Nonono, she just wants to promote a certain degree of awareness as to what some people are recording these days. Granted, we all have a different sense of what's alarming and what's offensive, etc. That's why I told everyone to imagine a room full of nuns hearing this stuff. :)

By the way, big huge thanks to everyone that has suggested stuff. But PLEASE, IN THE FUTURE, MAKE YOUR SUGGESTIONS OVER PRIVATE E-MAIL. Thanks. -d

Burtnick did a song, i think it was "In Time" (correct me if I'm wrong) for Excellent Adventure, and maybe some guitar licks that weren't on the soundtrack, but in the movie (some cool-sounding guitar stuff when B&T were in the future ("Where are we, dude?" "I don't know, but they sure play excellent music." :)). Oh, and remember, Extreme was on that soundtrack, as well as the great Matthew and Gunnar Nelson ("Two Heads are Better than One," by Power Tool :), hehe.

Sorry.... Divorce is a yucky thing..

My wife cancelled MY internet account last Friday and I just found out on Sunday so I had to get signed up on a new ISP (WebSurfer). While going through a divorce, and without credit cards, it's tricky to make certain purchases. Luckily WebSurfer in Dallas is only $6.99 a month.

Anyway, my point is that my new Email address is: jammer@websurfer.net

This post is mainly for those who I talk to and the two people I'm in the process of trading with. I hope you two both read the jams!! Anyway, we'll get hooked up again soon and pick it up where we left off, no thanks to my devilish soon-to-be-X-wife...

My tip of the year.... Watch Married With Children. Worship AL BUNDY !!! Sorry for no Dream Theater content. I won't have to do this again.

A bunch of nuns would probably have a heart attack listening to Voices, when it says, "Sex is death, death is sex."

I think this Awareness Day is a bunch of crap. If they would only target groups or lyrics that truly do promote violence of other things, then that would be ok, but I think these people that think that anybody who mentions violence or satan is evil or promoting something "bad" are out of hand. Black Sabbath's War Pigs mentions satan, and alot of people think Black Sabbath is this satanic band out to pollute the minds of the youth. Well, the Bible mentions satan, I guess it must be satanic also. Anybody with half a fucking mind could look at alot of lyrics that are considered offensive, and see that there is really a good message underneath, like War Pigs which is about how stupid war is. I can think of very few groups that actually promote violence, Marilyn Manson is the only one I can come up with off the top of my head.
