It may be a bit harsh, but Pat has every right to be pissed off. A trade
is a deal. You're being a prick if you don't fulfill your end of the
bargain. I know. I was duped by The CDCellar and after six months, I have
not received what I paid for. I have contacted the attorney general about
this and am waiting for his reply. But back to the Pat/Al thing...if you
don't want to read Pat's posts about this, don't read them. But it is good
for newbie jammers that know who and who not to trade with.

It has triggered drums. What I *meant* was: I wish they would release a
version of it that DIDN'T have triggered drums.

THEN I could die happy. Sorry to confuse everyone. :)

It depends what you're looking for. To the die-hard prog fans, there isn't really anything mentioned in SFK that you can't find out here. But SFK is THE source for information on hard rock/ AOR. If I'm not mistaken, the whole Van Halen saga was first leaked to SFK way back when. If you're like me and you love hard rock (ala Poison, Warrant, Motley, Extreme, etc) then you should definitely subscribe.

Did all of you lucky bastards who have been posting "YEAH, I just got my Superior CD!" finally receive it from Dream Disc or did you order it elsewhere? My December 9th order from DD STILL isn't here yet. Hopefully though, there was big batch just shipped out from DD so I can get my hands/ears on a copy!

Someone in the last jam said something about hearing Nuno on Rockline Monday night. I guess I missed this. Is there anyone that recorded it that would be willing to trade a copy to me for something? Please mail me and I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING worth trading for - you ARE a DT fan right? :)

    See ya!

PS - in the last jam, someone said something about having a big war between us jammers and each side would carry a different banner. We could have Images and Words vs. Awake or maybe Kev vs. Derek. Other ideas? Mercy Fuck vs. Fucking Shit?

(this is verbatim to what I posted on on a.r.m-p, apologies for those here who read there for seeing it twice)

I just picked up _Theli_ today and I think it's freakin' rad (had to throw in an '80s-ism)! I kept listening to it, expecting a lull--- or a mediocre song, or some repitition, but I never heard that. A few times, the vocalist does a near-death growl, but most of the time, he's reminiscent of the singer for Nevermore (not the style of music though). Electric guitars, pounding drums, driving bass, violins, piano/keys, Gregorian-style chanting (actually, there aren't many lead vocals on this), this has it all. It makes what Believer did on _Dimensions_ look like Romper Room. Savatage fans would probably like this. A few times, it kind of reminded me of Mastermind II, as well... but the sound is unique. Is their other stuff as good, or near, as this? This bitchkitty ain't coming out of my player for a while.

Oh yeah, in case no one's mentioned it, I think Superior ought to produce the new DT album !^)>

    Hi everyone,

John> yo, have any of y'all heard that queensryche will have a new John> album on march 25 called

John> "Hear in the Now Frontier"

Just thought I would throw in my zwei pfennig about this (heck I am in Germany so give me a break *grin*).

John> it's suppose to be a cross of empire and mindcrime

Well to tell you all the truth I have had the new QR for about 3 weeks now. I got an advance tape copy from a friend that has many friends in the industry (that is how I got the new Rush last year a month in advance).

Now I didn't like "Promised Land" at all. Ok it had maybe three or four good songs but nothing like the glory of "Mindcrime". But the new CD sucks even worse! All the songs sound the same and there isn't even a touch of metal throughout the whole thing.

It is definitely NOT a cross between "Empire" and "Mindcrime"! It is a cross between piss and shit *evil grin*.

On the other hand I have also heard three new Gamma Ray songs and they rock! Similar to stuff on "Land of the Free". Just wish Kai Hansen would write more songs. It is supposed to be released in May but I don't think that that will happen if he doens't get writing.

Anyway that is my little infomercial for the day. Talk to you all later.

    Jason

And the singer rocks, >along with that *heavy* guitar. ---------- ok, I have to put in my $.02. I finally got my Superior too (yes, from Dream Disc) and IMHO it not quite worth all the hype. It depends on what you like. To me (non guitar player) it sounded like the same chunky Metallica riff guitar over and over on every song. (No offense to Bernd, who seems like a really cool guy, and great player, just not in the style I care for) Anyway, if this is what you like, it's great. Also there was not a lot of keyboards, and when there was,(to me, non producer) it was mixed way under the guitar. And not many guitar solos either. There were a couple of parts I really liked like the bass break on track 5 and what sounds like a pan flute on track 7. Overall, a little too heavy for my tastes. (ok, I'll go back to listening to Firehouse Unplugged:) ) This is my impression after one listening. I got Ricochet and Conception at the same time and I enjoyed listening to them more. (Not to say they are better musicians than Superior, how would I know?) Anyway, if you want to hype something, hype Angra! (need I say IMO?)

More like "Dream Theater: Rescue The Band From A Castle Of Crazed Ytsejammers."

The Ytsejam Castle Rescue Mission...rescue the band from a castle of crazed ytsejammers... Well, a castle of ytsejammers. ;) DT is held hostage until EastWest releases the new album! Find the reels of recording tape and mixdown the album yourself while ripping through 8,723 levels of carnage and mayhem! Awarded the 1997 "Rakz Nodz" award by KorgX3!

As for I&W vs. Awake, I like them both. And I have every right to like them both, because after all, as a FAN of Dream Theater not connected to management and having no control over the individual members of the band, I'M the one who decides what direction their music is going to take. Favorite foods? Yeah, I decide that stuff too. Those guys even THINK about stoping at McDonald's they phone WHO? They phone ME. All I have to do is purchase their next album and I'm calling the shots on ICE CREAM FLAVORS. So they'd better get their act together and churn out some prog-country...

So anyway, I stopped by the studio over on Long Island to check up on the boys, looks like they're racking up another disc in that upcoming DT box-set (13 discs!). Yeah, the new album (1), a new version of Metropolis that clocks in at 74 minutes so it's a disc by itself (2), all of the Fix For '96 shows in their entirety (3-12), heck they even put in a remix of "The Apparition" with LaBrie on vocals, and boy does he hit those notes! "Adda-wadda-knooo-wa-slee-pa-nAOAOAOAOAUW!!" That and a bunch of other trinkets are on a special thirteenth disc (oooooo--bad luck!) of oddities and endities. They said they got a deal going with Time Life to release each disc as a monthly installment, free with your paid subscription to Time. Just like the Mysteries Of The Unknown series...

"Hey, you hear about that 6/8-5/19 time change over the A minor aeolian?"

"No! They actually did that on the album? What happened next?"

Tell me one reason why I would name bands with these kind of lyrics to you ? I am so fed up already with all the censorshit that I don't want more of it. Older ppl always try to take the music away from younger gene- ration. And all kinds of other stuff. I wouldn't NEVER help MY mom if she did something like this !! It's our right to listen to whatever we want to and not let anyone else tell us what is forbidden. Where is the freedom of speech ?? Sorry about this, but when older ppl are interes- ted in something like this it's usually about censorship. I don't know what your mom is after of course..but I HATE when they put down the bands I love ! Eventho I love Marilyn Manson and all those scary f*cking crazy bands it doesn't mean it makes me kill people and act like they do. These persons who are against all these lyrics should already realize that if a person gets affected from the lyrics there's something wrong in that persons head. Otherwise all of our parents would be out killing ppl 'cos they heard a line from your Deicide record...sorry, got carried away here, but I believe that there should be the freedom for anyone to express their feelings. It's strange how often I see that americans are fighting over the censorship when your country should be "the land of the free.." and over here there's so much more freedom to say what you feel. World sure works in funny ways..

It has, and from what I hear, Metropolis is still thoughtfully smiling...

After waiting long enough, though, I just gave Brian Wherry the rights to my first born (and a first round draft pick) to just do it; go to Mama Kin's tonight and catch him perform it in it's entirety.

For those who don't know, Mama Kin's was formed as a result of Aerosmith wanting a place to have local talent showcased.
