Cellophane Square? Has anyone ever dealt with them? They seem fairly
decent, seeing as how the web page is updated at least twice a week (if
that's any indication...). You knever know.
DreamDisc? The Superior album arrived today (great stuff, BTW), relieving
my fears that they had pulled an Apocalypse on me (I'm the kid they/he
still owes $60+ worth of merchandise...). They go on my recommended list.
Beware Apocalypse, though. He still hasn't responded to the physical
letter I mailed him a week or two ago. I'm thinking maybe I should call
and harass the bastard...

Ok, I'll put my studio up for the DT tribute album. It's a 24 trx ADAT
studio with a 32x8 Mackie. It sounds great, I have some good mics, good
outboard gear, good home cookin. I'm willing to lend my house for all
to live in while each performer records his/her part. I'm dead serious
about this, so let's get rolling. I also have a 7 pce drum set (TAMA),
Marshal amps, Vox (Beatle), Piano, Keyboards, and again some good
fucking food. :) If interested please form a group, pick a song, and
head on down to Arizona.

See here, the problem is Mike Bahr would hijack the entire shipment of
CD's going out and hold them for ransom, after making several coppies.

and cows, get into a brawl, and my original sunario of us all nuking each
other would come to pass anyway. Why don't we just spare the middlemen?

already been taken). It's perfect for me to show off my sick 7-string
chops (btw- has anyone seen the new black & white Universes?-
gorgeous!). The intelude where John P. and Derek do that harmonized
part that sounds like the main riff from LTL is breathtaking (does that
qualify as a pun?). Well anyways, I got dibs on that one (No I don't
have Fix For '96 tapes, I just remember how the song sounds.) Did

Wow, I am breaking my Ytsejam posting virginity. I think I am the only DT
fan here who thought that "Promised Land" was the best album that
Queensryche put out. I thought the music, singing, and lyrics were all
much better. Their voices weren't as high and whiny, they lost a lot of
the '80s sound that annoyed me, and the music, eventhough not as hard, seem
to fit the songs better. Atleast that is in my VERY important opinion <g>.
I always thought that "Mindcrime" was the worst Queensryche CD.

Unfortunately, there really isn't such a thing as freedom of speech. All
we can really hope is that our good friend <sarcasm intended> Al Gore
doesn't become president. I think, especially us in TN, remember his and
Tipper's campaign to limit what CDs we can buy without a parents permision
even farther than it is now. The regulations they wanted to place on music
was horrible. Tipper was convinced that if you played *any* rock music
backwards you could hear satanic messages in it. How many of you play your
CDs backwards??? I hear JLB chanting kill your parents right now...

Yah, I did mention this to Bernd. The sound quality of Behind is
supreme. Very clean and precise. Almost over-produced as one of my
lowly alternative buds would say. Perfect, to me. :) I haven't
shown this to him yet, but I think he'd like it. Probably not enough
foul language and songs about trippin' for him, though...

He will be touring, and in fact, he's already started. He's got a his
brother Paulo Bettencourt (ex-Flesh vocalist) on rhythm guitars, his cousin
Donovan Bettencourt on bass, and one other guy on rhythm guitars, and
another on drums. Three guitarists total...kinda weird coming from Nuno,
but I guess he wants to focus more on the vocals.

Overall: The album title "Schizophonic" is very appropriate since this
disc runs the gammet from industrial to alternative to pop to punk. Most
songs still have a strong melody to them. Nuno proves that he has a pretty
good lead voice and is an accomplished lyricist. I would say that those
people into what Kevin Moore is doing now will like this, just replace the
keys with guitar. As people have already stated, it's not the shred-fest
that Nuno could have put out, but overall I do like it and there are
moments of flash. The album is at it's best during the upbeat numbers (for
the most part). However, it was great hearing Gary Cherone harmonizing on
"You." Though this is a pretty good album, I can't believe that Extreme
was broken up because of it. Based on "You" and "Pursuit Of Happiness"
(the two songs co-written w/Gary), the next Extreme album would have been
much better than Waiting For The Punchline, which wouldn't have been
difficult.

Two things, so as not to kill bandwidth.
1) The Ytselunch was a good time to be had by all. Held at 99's, noted
for its tasty American food(and quadruple murders). 5 folks showed
up, and we shot the shit with each other, and fielded questions from
inquiring 12 year olds. "Why does it say Fix for 96 on that T-shirt? It
is 1997!" "Well, it would look kinda stupid if it said Fix for 97,
wouldn't it?" Silence. Didn't last long, though, there were 6 of them.
6-12 year old girls. Talking, shouting, and screaming. *sigh*
Just for kicks, the next Ytselunch will be a Ytse-breakfast, held
on a certain Saturday morning after a certain party in early March.
Gotta sober up somehow. :)
2) Just returned from the Mama Kin Wacky fest(aka, Udder Excitement by
Spherical Cow :)), and I was very impressed and surprised. (Attended by
the same 4 other Jammers who were at the Ytselunch, surprisingly enough.)
Impressive stuff: Damn, Brian, that instrumental piece RULED! And you
made it look easier than hell to play, too. I had visions of you going
up to JP someday and saying, "When we first met, I was but a learner, now
I am the master!!" But the vision quickly passed.
The set list was:

Surprising stuff: Sitting back and playing rhythm stuff on Tracy
Chapman's Gimme One Reason to Stay here. A good guitarist can shred, but
a great guitarist can sit back and play a cool rhythm, and that was
definitely the case.
Julie, Jon, Jeff and I wanted Metropolis as an encore, but people
might have gone into shock over such a good song that we decided against it.
Good show, man.
Now I leave it to Jon to break those people's kneecaps who
WEREN'T at the show.

Hi,
I've been in a CD drought lately, so I had to go to Hastings to see what
I could get. I picked up my first King's-X CD. Have to listen to it
yet. I also picked up Galactic Cowboys, since that name keeps popping up
on the YTSEjam. I listened to about half of it, and so far it's great.
I got "space in your face" for only $6.99. I like the heavy guitars and
bass, yet they retain a melody in their music.
Now, as for Shadow Gallery: I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I'VE HEARD ANY BAD
CRITIQUES ABOUT THIS BAND. I picked up Carved in Stone, and I'm
listening to it now. Hearing it for just the first time, I know that I love
this band. That's usually how it works with me anyway. I'm either
totally flattered right away, or else it gradually grows on me. But the
only groups that I love are the ones I'm totally impressed with right away.
It's easily the best thing since Dream Theater's Images and Words. The
piano, guitar, drums, and singing are all great.
To me, it seems that SG is a combination of DT and YES (and maybe a
little Yanni with all that piano).
Anyway, they are extremely talented and I would like to know 2 things:
1) Where can I get their first CD and
2) When's their next one due out?
Comments? Critiques? Anybody agree with me that SG is tops for music
quality? I can't believe I'm saying this having heard them for about 30
minutes!
