(sorry for posting this to the whole list but:)

To whoever is running this thing, I can play drums for the following songs:

    6:00
    CIAW
    Erotomania
    LSOAD
    AD
    TLF
    Surrounded

I have my own four track recorder, but if necessary I (and D-man) can get
access to an ADAT. Also, if the situation arises that all parts for a
certain song are accounted for except the drums, I'm willing to sit down
and learn whatever is necessary. I can't make any guarantees, but I'll
    give it my best shot.

Also, Stan was wondering if anyone wanted to cover ACoS?? I'd love
to do the bass part...our old band used to play it. It's so frickin fun to
play!!! I have a DAT machine, so I could just slap it on there, and send it
in when I'm done. I'll have to get rid of some of my rust tho :)

Hey, maybe Jazzmin and Vince can get together and help each other
organize this thing. I mean, I don't see why more than one person
couldn't do it. As long as I get something, I'll be happy (I can't
remember what all's been called, but I can do vox on Silent Man (I
know that one's taken), Space Dye Vest, bass on Eve, Silent Man, and
maybe SDV, and any voice overs needed (as long as they're in English
:), oh, and any trombone parts that could fit (come on, there's gotta
be something :)). This could actually maybe happen this time, so
let's not screw it up here. Cheers.

P.S. Anybody know all the Maiden songs DT's covered? Just curious
(I'd be very interested in hearing this).
P.P.S. Ooh, I also heard that Adrian Smith is supposed to play on
Bruce Dickinson's next album. WOO HOO!!!

It's a very popular progression. You can hear it in the chorus of Yngwie
Malmsteen's "I'm My Own Enemy." Then about a month ago I heard a song by a
group called Wild Orchid...or something...anyway, the song was called "At
Night I Pray" and had really glaring elements of the Canon in D.

As for me, I'm waiting for the day when I can cover "Hook" by Blues
Traveler in front of a crowd of thousands just so I can start playing the
main violin melody from the Canon. "Hook" follows that progression from
start to finish. I ain't tellin' you no lies.

For all you Maiden lovers out there...

A friend of mine in LA called yesterday and told me he heard an interview
on the radio with Bruce. Apparently Bruce and Adrian Smith are working
together again, and the new material, according to Bruce is similar to
Piece of Mind-era Maiden. He also mentioned how sick he was of the grunge
scene, and that his stuff with Adrian is going to be 'pure metal.'
Hmmm...The pendulum swings??? One can only hope.

This'd work really well for me. I could record all my parts to midi
and send them via internet to youse guys. Seems kinda lame though.
It just wouldn't feel like I played it...

I'll try my best to make it down there. I'll ask my drummah buddy
Matt if he wants a stake in a song. He likes DT but doesn't take
this Ytse-jammer stuff seriously so I doubt he will. He's a kickass
drummer though and can play anything you ask him to. Is there a set
list as to what's gonna be played yet? I saw something before and
wasn't for sure if it was it, but I don't remember seeing LtL on it.
C'mon, I don't wanna have to do that all by myself (trust me, I
probably could.with a drummer's help. The vox might be a little
    rough, though...) :)

Nuff, this is a groovin idea, and we oughtta really see it through.

    Okay folks...

I haven't posted to the JAM for many months, but I thought I'd break my
silence and urge everyone to SIGN OUR PETITION!

Basicaly, for those of you who have been hiding in a closet or under a
mossy rock for the past 5 JAMS, we're putting together a big "swift kick
in the ass" for EastWest Records. Dream Theater is more than ready to
record their next album (according to Mr. Portnoy himself) but the label
    is sitting on their thumbs.

So, it's up to all of us to get out the Ytse-Thumbtack and push forth
with a mighty force. We all want to see Dream Theater record and release
their next album (even if it's got a woosy name like "Godot") so we can
go out and spend money to buy it.

Plus, I do think my graphics on the webpage are really snazzy. But I'm
    probably biased. :)

So, fire up your favorite web browser and point it to:

    http://www.prognosis.com/petition

Fill out your name and E-mail, and put a message in for EastWest Records
to see. Don't be rude or crude tho... we got enough of those already.
Oh, and make it easier on everyone and PLEASE POST ONCE ONLY.

So far, we have over *210* responses to our initial post on the Jam.
That's pretty impressive for one day of activity, but it's still not
enough to change EastWest's mind. Keep at it!

Incidentally, if you have a webpage that is hit quite heavily, please
link one the graphics to our petition page. My grahpics are at:

    http://www.SpiritOne.com/~schnoor/dtarc/

Thanks for your support! We'll get this album yet. :)

Is this called for? I thought the idea was for all of us to get
together and have some fun. Jazz, I dunno what you have against me, but I'd
love to work with you on this. I just don't appreciate being flamed here
when I'm trying to get something done that a lot of people want to get done.
I'm trying not to exclude anybody and I'm trying to make everybody happy. I
know I can't make everybody happy here, but you don't need to jump down my
throat. Like I said before, I was just trying to get enough songs so that
they will fit on one CD and have them be the most wide-spread, well-known
songs. The classics, ya know? Nothing's set in stone and I didn't mean for
it to seem that way. I just want to get it done as quickly and as good as
    possible.

    Later,

Peace be with you and God bless, ~Vince

The downside of SG is the background vocals. They sound cheesy. Also, the
guitarist plays too many arpeggios which I find annoying. The pianist is
very good. They songwriting is strong except for the last track which they
could of made it flow better.

I wish I could volunteer to play guitar... but ive been only been playing
just about 2 years now, and I suck. So if anyone can tell me how to
solo.... Anyway, how many songs do we have room for? And I think it would
be cool to have a small little original jam at the end or maybe evan an
original song to make the album a little more unique. Yet this might be the
most difficult part becasue with so many musicians and so many ideas going
around... well im sure you can all picture it. Later and discuss

    Hey all,
It's been a while since I have posted (say, a year or so), so I will
keep this short and sweet, and hope it does not get lost in the YtseTrib
Shuffle (which, BTW, sounds like an awesome idea/plan...I would partake, but
have not found the right DT song to donate my Tympani skills to).
My friend has a little four-piece band and they just got their second
gig at the Roxy. The go by the nom-de-pleume of Pear (don't ask, loooooong
story). They are playing either tomorrow 2/14 or Saturday 2/15, I will post
    once I have more details.
Important note: they are not prog. I am posting here because I know
that most of us are open-minded musicians/music lovers. Pear sounds a lot like
old Cure, but they are adding a harder edge to their songs. Good shit. And
they also do a killer cover of "Melt With You."
I'll post more info as it comes. E-mail me if you are interested.

I don't think that this whole tribute idea is being handled correctly.
No one person should be able to take part in more then one song unless
there is a genuine need for it. I also don't think that any parts should
be outrightly assigned. Give people a chance to speak up before a few
greedy people take over the whole project. There are alot of us out here
who are extremely talented. I should hope that if this CD is going to be
a true tribute from the ytsejammers, then a good cross section should be
used. International, East Coast, West Coast, male, female, young and
    old.
I suggest that there be a comittee set up ( which includes Jassmin) to
sort through who is interested and what they want to do. And take it
    step by step from there.
I dont think ANYONE should support anything less then a group effort.

It's funny everyone is talking about this tribute, they talked about doing
it last year too. It's never getting done, your fooling yourselves, but
go ahead I could use the laugh.

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to announce that my shitty web page is up
and running now. I've got links to a few pages that belong to 'jammers
up already. If anyone else wants me to put up a link to their page, let
me know. The URL to my page is http://www.twav.com/swifty/index.htm and
be warned - it REALLY sucks! heheh...

    Take care, everyone

I am sure you all have realized that the key board parts shouldn't be
that hard to find some one to do them since they DO NOT have to go to AZ,
just do it on MIDI and then get a GOOD key board at the studio for mix
down and that's that-fini. Should be simple, hopefully I have made
someone with the skill but no transpo realize they could contribute very
    easily.

    Anyway just trying to help.

PS -What about the original song CD idea?

    Hey Hi!

I would like to play on this "tribute" thing seriously.
I'm a keyboard player and play in 2 DT cover bands... therefore I play
a lot of songs from DT. I have professional keyboards and I've written very
similar patches that Kevin used. I'm also looking for a site I can upload
a demo version (in MP3) of Erotomania (full band) and WFS (w. vocals)
    recorded in our home studio..
So I can play these songs:

    Ytsejam
    PMU
    AD
    UAGM
    Metropolis
    WFS
    CIAW
    A Mind Beside Itself
    Scarred

I mean these are the songs I've learned from note to note... there is a lot
more I can play parts from and I could finish learning them (eg. LTL, 6:00,
    ACOS, etc).
The only problem that I live in Hungary but I think it's not a big problem
since I could send my parts on DAT or even in 16bit 44KHz Stereo WAV file
through the net. You should only send the click with the tempo changes that
you use in the song (midi sync).
So if you need a keyboard player for a song almost with the same sounds (95%)
as Kevin had on his JD800 and DW8000, please let me know. Also, if you need
other players (drummer, singer, bass, guitar) for the songs above, write me,
then I ask the people of our bands to do it.

    Bye,
    Peter
