I agree with the earlier comment about PL being the soundtrack to my
life. I know I was disappointed with the album the first time I heard
it, so I put it on the shelf a while (understandably, considering I
received Awake on the same day - I listened to that 2 or 3 times a day
for the first month, just like I&W). When I went back to it, it really grew
on me. I could really identify with it. Then I went on a QR kick and
bought all the rest of their CDs (I only had the tape for Empire and
Mindcrime - which I ironically did not get hooked on until 2 years after
    I bought it!).

As for the tribute idea. I think it is great. I wish I could
contribute, but alas, I cannot. I plan on picking up a bass this
summer. Any suggestions on what I could get? But I do plan on buying
at least one copy (probably more) of this tribute album when it is done.
So you can count on me as a consumer of the wonderful product.

Hi Jammers, got a question about the DTIFC.....
I sent in my order/information some time before the new year.....and
still no response. To any current members, is this a common thing? A
friend of a friend had told me he sent a order in and NEVER received any
response......I'm just curious....I'd like to get my hands on a fanzine
    sometime in the near future.....

    Thanks,

It just hit me... I could smack myself for not noticing this
sooner. All of you arguing about vocal parts... don't. Just do the harmony
part (whichever has the better harmony voice). You can add to it as well,
if we do it well. Just think... DT, Galactic-Cowboys-style. :)

I can play bass on Take The Time, as well as a bunch of others, if
need be. The secret not many people know is that playing the bass is
pretty easy compared to every other instrument. I've played the guitar for
8 years and the bass for 3, and I'm so much better on bass that there's no
possible medium of comparison. It's just the simpler instrument.

I think that a group of about 5 non-involved people should listen to the
audition tapes. If someone who auditions listens to the tapes, they will
put themselves with all the parts they want, even though they may not be
up to par. I think, if you really want fareness, this is what you'll do.
    Be well.

Ok now, about the Tribute, yes it has been tried in the past, and it

forgive me for cluttering the jam with this, but i lost the email of the guys
    organizing the tribute.

if the tribute happens, i want to perform "wait for sleep" - synth, piano,

if you guys who are organizing this would get in touch with me, i would very
    much appreciate it!

    Hi all,
I've been trying to think of ways to make the whole tribute thing
more fair, and I came up with a few ideas. First off, Jazz and I need to
talk. I think she could be a great help to this project and she obviously
has the drive, so Jazz--E-MAIL ME with your ideas. I'd love to work with ya.
Second, I'm scrapping the song list. I tried to pick the songs
that I figured everyone liked and at least some people wanted to play, but
I've gotten tooooooooo many complaints for this to be a real "fan" tribute.
Therefore I'm setting up a vote. Whether you plan on taking part in the
recording process or not, I want you all to vote on which songs you want to
see on this. Send all e-mail votes to me privately at VGL@U.ARIZONA.EDU
with nothing in the main body and let the subject be the song you're voting
for. Everyone gets three votes. This means you can vote for your 3 fav
songs (in 3 separate e-mails), and 10 days from now, I'll count 'em all up
and post to the jam what the most popular songs are. However many of these
we can fit on one CD, we will. Lines (in the Sand) are open now. Any
repeats (like voting 3 times for "LIE") will be deleted, as will any that I
get after 12:00 am MST, Tuesday Feb 25th. Okay?
Third, instead of saying this person does this and this person does
that, how about this: Everyone sends their tapes in the mail (even those
coming to AZ) ASAP, and whoever does the best job gets the spot. Does that
sound good? It's the most fair thing I can think of because I've had so
many people say they want this certain part, but I've had to say no because
it was taken. It makes me feel like a schmuck and I don't like it. I feel
this way whoever plays the best gets to be on the tribute. The only bad
part is that I'm gonna be fishing through a lot of mail. This is where
others like Jazz, or Hector, or some other jammer(s) could really lend a
hand is in screening parts. I seriously doubt I'm gonna have the time to go
through hundreds of tapes that all say "Killing Hand guitar solo #1" or
    whatever.

Do you all like my ideas here? Let me know what you think. Later,

Peace be with you and God bless, ~Vince

Hey there. I havn't posted to the list about two years... Anyway, I've
been reading about the tribute. Here's the deal:

I can, and would love to, play drums on any of the songs. I've been
playing for many years. I used to play death metal, then I got into prog
and other stuff. I am graduating from Syracuse University in May, and
then I plan to travel. Never been to NV, and would love to visit.

Songs I want to play, but I could really play anything (excactly like MP):
Ytsejam, Metropolis, Erotomania, anything from I&W, anything from Awake...

I'm serious and I've recorded with many bands, and most of all, I love
DT!!! Plus I play Tama! (MP's drums of choice)

Please hook me up with drums on one or more of the songs... any song where
you need kick ass playing (I'm not egotistical, I'm just trying to sell
    myself...I'm good).

    Thanks

I just wandered over to the petition page over at Prognosis, and it's left
me with more questions than answers.

First, what exactly are we trying to accomplish? The comments vary from
pleas to let DT get into the studio to people calling for Elektra to release
the CD now! Folks, there ain't no CD yet, so what good does it do ask the
record company to do something that is, at this time, physically impossible?
It's not like the Sony/echolyn situation, where the record company actually
has two complete albums and an EP rotting in their vaults.

Second, just who are we trying to reach here? If it's the record company,
then I'd suggest scrapping the comments and just going with a list of fans
(maybe with one introductory statement or something). In addition to the
pleas mentioned above which seem to indicate we don't know what we're
talking about, there are a lot of things in those comments that aren't going
to make the record company any to happy. Yelling at them to "release the
fucking CD" certainly doesn't inspire respect, but perhaps what is even
worse are the numerous comments where Jammers are explaining to the record
company guys what asshole/dipshits/idiots they are. IMHO, if we're going to
get East/West to move on this, we've got to show a little respect. At least
don't curse at them and thell them they're stupid, even tho' they are! A
little professionalism can go a long way.

Those are just a couple of concerns that I have. Is this the way the ACOS
    petition went?

I'm confused here, when somebody says that the background vocals
sound cheesy, what do they mean? I've scratched my head many times
about this. How do you define cheesy when it comes to background
vocals? How do they suppose to sound without losing their power??
    take care......Dusty
