There are lots o people with the name "Chris" on this list. Let's not be so
vague, because frankly, you've confused one of them. :)

The Petition is at almost 800 entries. I'm very proud of the numbers we've
gotten. Thanks guys and gals. Those of you who have signed are helping us
all move one step closer to a new album (or two).

    Hello, all...

    --

Regarding tributes and such... a few nights ago on IRC, some of us Pacific Northwest jammers had talked about meeting locally and recording some tribute songs as a group. Not as a set of broken up, individual recordings, pieced together, but as a group, with time to rehearse and mess around. I think KorgX3 and TheHand were some of us...

Anyways, if you're in the BC/Washington/Oregon/Idaho (or nearby) area and would like to talk about a tribute song (or 2) from PNW jammers, please E-mail me. Let's pull together and show everyone that there ARE Jammers in the Northwest, dangit! :)

Even if the whole tribute project should fall through (as it has done in the past) let's at least do this for ourselves.

    --

Oh, and to the person who suggested I purchase a Tori Amos album, you mentioned it would be a "good investment". I don't remember who you are, but we had discussed this on IRC about, say, a week ago.

I just wanted to announce that I, a longtime nonfan of Tori, have just purchased "Boys For Pele" and, after three listens, I think it is EXCELLENT STUFF. I bought this on your recommendation... and, "Under the Pink" and "Little Earthqakes" are top on my list of CD's to get. Lovin' that harpsichord. :) Thanks a million!

Folks: Any of you that have this stuff, at *least* keep it under your hat. The band does not want anyone to have any of this stuff yet. Let's try to at least appear that we're respecting their wishes.

Sorry to pick on you, Rudy, but this post happened to be here to remind me of this.

After sitting through Vegas Vacation (just like the other ones, only not funny) I went to Circuit City and saw they had the domestic Dragon Attack for $12.99! I paid $21.99 for the import. Doh! Then I went to the "DT" section and found The Silent Man single for $8.99! Woo Hoo!

I also got Acoustic Dreams and was very impressed. Great sound and arrangements. BTW, the last few tracks aren't acoustic.

I recently got a copy of Stratovarius 'Episode' CD after waiting months for it to arrrive and I gotta say how disappionted I am with it. The guitarist reminds me of Yngwie, I can't hear much origonality in the songs, I hear some Rising Force and Helloween in there. Maybe after a few more listens it will get better, still it dosent 'suck', just not what I am into these days. Someone mentioned Paradise Lost and their album 'Icon', PL are a great band, if you haven't heard them I'd advice you to have a listen to their last release 'Draconian Times', one of my all time fave albums. While they are by no means progressive, fans of Metallica, Savatage and Superior (although not sounding like these bands) will appreciate their metall/goth/doom sound. If you would like to know some more I can give you a couple of album reveiws by private e-mail.

Once upon a time, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir drank some acid-laced OJ (I don't know why or how) and they got addicted and had to go to rehab. While they were there they met up with Layne Staley (sp? AiC guy) and decided to bust out. So they stole a bus and broke out, but the police chased them through Salt Lake City and up an icy mountain road. Little did they know, but the SLC Symphony Orchestra was driving back into town on thier own bus. As the two busses raced toward each other, some crazy rock star lookin' dudes were crossing the road. (It turns out it was none other than Paul O'Neil and members of Savatage, who were on a much deserved ski vacation after their success with TSO.) Anyway, the MoTab's bus driver, already on acid and distracted by all the long hair, thought the 'tage entourage were a bunch of wild animals and swerved to try and avoid them. He failed, and killed everyone on the road and on both busses. So they all went to hell and met the Devil and asked him "Since we're all down here, could we record a progmetalish cd with the choir singing half the vocals, Layne singing the other half, and have lots of guitars and keyboards and the symphony playing all together, and Mr. O'Neil could produce it and it would be the most awesome and different kind of thing you've ever heard?" And the Devil said "No, because it's already been done back on Earth by a band called Therion and cd is called Theli and it's available at finer cd stores for around 15 bucks." And they said "Oh, bummer."

One way to get some of this rolling is to get the drummers and any half ass guitar player and lay down the drums and use the H. A. guitar player for scratch tracks, then if someone says they can do a part send them the ADAT of the drum tracks w/click and they can take it to a studio and lay down their part then send it back or better yet send a DAT (cheaper) and have them record on ADAT and send it and the DAT back (that way you can send use that dat again ;).

Hi Jammers. I am another brazilian DT fan and I am in YtseJam for almost one year, but only reading and learning with you. Well, after this period of silent, I decided to send this message so as to ask your opinion about something. Last month, I read in a great rock brazilian magazine, called Rock Brigade, a interview with Jason Finn, the drummer of The President of the USA, and I will try to translate a small part of it

"RB - In the USA, the critics have been saying that heavy metal is dead. Even some metal musicians have been rejecting this kind of music while others defend it. You don't play heavy metal, so what is your opinion about this supposed death of metal?

JF - I agree with who said that metal is dead. It's a kind of music totally decadent, without something more to offer. We went to a Sepultura show some days ago and we liked it very much but, nowadays, good metal bands are rare."

As most of you live in USA and you like metal bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Metallica, Megadeth, Angra, etc., what do you think about it? I love metal and IMO Jason's opinion was ridiculous. (Excuse me if there are some mistakes in this message but I'm not so fluent in english yet :-) )

    Rogerio Pinheiro.

I just got this from a fellow jammer:

    >This thing with you and Al is really getting tired. If you are out >three tapes (true ??) what if I sent you enough money to get yourself a >three-pack ?? I can get three tapes for about $8 in the Boston area. I >assume that you could get a similar deal where you are. If I got you >the money, would you *promise* to NEVER bring this crap up again ??

This is really getting ridiculous when a fellow jammer offers to pay up what another owes. There is a principle here and al owes me and he is the one who should pay up.

To tell you the truth, I think he would let me accept someone else's offer to pay his dues. That is the type of person he really is...

It is a really sad state when you can't trust a fellow jammer, especially one who acts like the way Al does...

I haven't read any of the jams since 2/13 (#2275). I would like to apologize for my rude remark to Vince... I am sorry I called you a shit. I know that you're local and when this thing happens, you're going to be The Man -- you can be on the scene the whole time, I can't...

I'm posting this before I read the jams because I expect I've got some flames coming, and wanted to be in an apologetic mood rather than a snotty mood while apologizing.

ANYWAY, I promise to play nicely and not hit the other children!

    Regarding the ytsejammers' DT tribute,

I'm a drummer in the Houston area (looking for a band btw), and travelling to record is a possibility for me. I've already emailed Vince and Jazzmin about the dates I have open, but you can email me personally if you want more details or want to discuss options (like you've got a studio closer, like in Texas? :).

One comment I had on the whole issue. I really think we should keep people's brothers, sisters, a cool player in this band we know across town, etc. OUT of this tribute. Though we aren't in this for our own glorification (well mostly not :) this tribute is something we can call our own, right? So, let's try and keep the participation exclusively to ytsejammers. The only exception might be if a jammer and their local band want to record a whole song at once. This would especially make it easier for people sending in DATs. However, I think this should be a general rule of thumb: if yer flying out to Arizona for this, you'd better be a ytsejammer. :) Seriously, I hope everyone agrees with me on this. I look forward to seeing everyone's opinions.

I have heard only one or two "hey, I'd like a copy of this even though I'm not going to play on it" replies. I have also seen three "YEAH RIGHT" posts. SO.... DO WE HAVE JAMMER SUPPORT?

If nobody is going to cover the cost of manufacturing, there is no point in doing the tribute. That means that if nobody is going to perk up and buy one (I guess if there were any profits we could send it to the band's kids' college fund?) we probably ought to stop the planning right here and now, before everyone gets hir hopes up.

Email me privately, with a subject of "yes I'd like one (or #)" or "no way jose". This will keep the poll off the list but give me some idea of direction. Also it will provide a clue as to how many to burn and how much to charge.

Or are we killing the same rumors over and over again? Anyway, I asked Mike about getting dropped from Elektra/EW, and he said that as of midnight Monday they are still on the label.

Oh, and I asked him what he thinks of the impending tribute. His exact words were: "Who do you think I am, Neil Peart???" :) So, if you can actually get that monster to fly, you have Mike's blessing.

Oh, and he mentioned something about shaving James' head before kicking him out of the band.
