    Hiya all,
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where to go to get the
Superior disc that I have been hearing so much about. I know it is available
in a couple places, so suggestions of the ones to go to and the price they
    offer would be greatly appreciated.
Also, for any Annihilator fans: has anyone heard the 'Refresh the
Demon' disc? I just recently heard about it and previously did not know it
was even put out. I would appreciate any comments on it if y'all have heard
    it. Thanks in advance!

I just want to say that I think that Vince posts a ton of useless crap
to the jam. I rarely agree with anything he says. And I find his sig file
    *extremely* annoying and condescending.
That having been said, how anyone can criticize him for his part in the
recent DT-tribute flame wars is beyond me. When did he say a single unkind
thing to that giant sef-centered ego we call Jazzmin? She probably is in it
for some kind of personal glory, since in at least 80% of the posts I've ever
read from her she insists on reminding us about how she's a singer and how
singers are musicians too and what a good singer she is and all the great DT
songs that she can just nail and what a good feeling that is to be that good
and how much music theory she's taken and how many instruments she plays and
what a good organizer she is and all the songs she can do for the tribute and
damnit, it was her idea in the first place. Well besides the fact that she's
fucking WRONG, it takes alot more than saying (dorky voice mode on) "Hey, we
should do a dream theater tribute" to get the thing going.
As much as I find Vince annoying, I respect the fact that he took
charge of this idea, which really was nothing more than an idea until he
started organizing, and did something with it, not for personal glory, but
because no one else was going to. Pretty easy for Jazzmin to bitch about being
left out once the ball was already rolling. Do you really think she would have
done anything with this if Vince hadn't "stolen" her idea and shown that there
was interest? Please. Anyone can say "let's do a DT tribute".
I really don't see how Vince has done anything wrong. Sure, he may be
a little overzealous, but he never suggested that he didn't need help, it's
just that no one offered to help until Jazzmin, but she had already shown how
well she works with others by calling him a shit. So I just asking you to get
off Vince's case on this one, because he doesn't deserve it. I don't like him
either, but it's not the point. If anyone can tell me one thing he's done that
deserves to get him lumped in with that whining bitch then please e-mail me
privately. Make sure the subject says what it is since I'm sure I'll be sorting
    through a lot of flames.

Christmas Eve is the same as the one on the Trans-siberian Orchestra- no

though I'm not terribly thrilled with the new more classical direction of
the band, I still love them.

James didn't scream on I&W. He screams on Awake. Except on Innocence
Faded, The Silent Man, LSoaD, and SDV. The only songs on which he screams
on I&W are TTT, and LtL <and only briefly>.

Queensryche? I don't hear that at all. Sure, it's layered and has power
chords and acoustic, but that's where the similarities end, IMO...

No way? I thought this is what most jammers LIKED about the song. As for
Black Sabbath meets Winger, I thought DT was paying homage to the Dregs on
    this jam.

I agree, but I think this song is not a case of that. The tag is just a
JAM. They had a great jam and a short song that happened to have a
similar feel, so they put them together like chocolate and peanut butter.
I think Erotomania is an example of a song without direction. It has two
great motives, then goes through 2.5 minutes of NOTHING before a
    recapitulation of the motives.

This is all just my opinion. No flamage intended. :)

    Hello,
I'm all for this tribute and whatever I acn give, I will. But I
will not give my time to read Jazzmin's contiuously juvenile posts that
appear on the jam. I'd rather have no tribute than read this crap day to
day. Someone needs to grow up here: I don't know who and I really don't
want to know. Saying this should be kept off the jam and then CCing the
jam is ridiculous. Someone needs to take the reins here, and it shouldn't
be Jazz, that's all I'm sure of.
As for Nuno, are any jammers going to the show at the Birch Hill?
Curious as to whether I'm the only interested party.

    > Yeah, but that's because Charlie Dominici sucked...

Ever stopped to think that *some* might actually like Chuckie's voice ?
I've been a fan since day ONE, and frankly, I thought he was a *great*
singer at the time. I can't deny LaBrie is the better singer in more
ways than one, but that doesn't mean "Charlie Dominici sucked".
    "You are being a *prick*"

Dan bitched on Jam 2267 :

    > Subject: Marillion Does Suck
    >
    > Well I bought on of thier albums, "Afraid Of Sunlight" And it
    > SUCKED!!!! I threw it out my car window the other day!!!
    > Thanks for the great reviews!

I don't wanna call you a FUCKING MORON, but I'm *thinking* it. Flame me
if you must, I don't care. I'm just sick and tired of all those assholes
that insist a band or album "sucks" just because *they* don't like it.
Have you ever thought that maybe you don't *have* to like a band *just*
because *other* Ytsejammers do ? For your information, here's part of a
Marillion poll I did, last November.

    > Favourite Marillion albums with Steve Hogarth :
    >
    > 1. Afraid Of Sunlight (382) <---
    > 1. Brave (382)
    > 2. Seasons End (367)
    > 3. Holidays In Eden (278)
    > 4. Made Again (270)
    > 5. A Singles Collection (204)

Oh yeah, "Brave" is considered to be a MASTERPIECE (no, NOT just by ME).
Every year, a Dutch radio station does a "Best albums of all time" poll.
    Here's the top 10 of last year's poll :

    > 1. Dire Straits - Money for nothing
    > 2. Marillion - Brave <---
    > 3. U2 - The Joshua tree
    > 4. Live - Throwing copper
    > 5. Pearl Jam - Ten
    > 6. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness
    > 7. Michael Jackson - Thriller
    > 8. Nirvana - Nevermind
    > 9. Marillion - Misplaced childhood <--- Another legendary album
    > 10. Cranberries - No need to argue

You know, the thing I hate the most about this list is the fact that
there are *so* many close-minded idiots on it. According to *them*,
an album or band either "sucks" or "rulez". Grow a fucking brain !
I don't like to sound like an asshole (and I'm sure I do), but that
seems to be the only way to get through to some people.

Thank you, Paul. Mind if I paraphrase you in a .sig file?.. =)

    Concerning Queensryche:
A question to jammers in general - Am I the only one who is not particularly
thrilled with Queensryche's music? This is not a flame for QR fans, in any
way. It's just that the excitement and thrills I feel when popping in a DT
disc are simply not present when I listen to QR. I *like* the band, but to me
they pale next to the almighty DT. I have not heard much of PL, but I own
Empire and have heard Mindcrime many times. The musicianship is *good* (but
not DT level), the songwriting is *good* (but not DT level), and the lyrics -
well, they're probably good but I haven't paid much attention. These, of
course, are my own not-so-humble opinions. I'd like to hear (perhaps via
private email?) from jammers who agree or dissent, and can state their reasons
in a calm, organized fashion... thanx.

STEVE. MORSE. (sorry, the name doesn't quite have the ring that MICHAEL.
ANGELO. does) is playing tomorrow, 2/20, at The Edge in Palo Alto. If you
live within a 100-mile radius of Palo Alto and are not going to this show,
well.... get your head examined!! =) I'll be sporting a DT Awake shirt.

    jam on!

    >Yes, I hear voices [j/k]), this is about a dream I actually had last night.

woohoo, i'm not a nuts-bastid!! in this case, time to tell my fuguckered DT
dream... it was one day before the album came out, dont ask me what was on
the cover, it was some blue thing ok? anyways, i know what the cover looked
like because i was in the store and they had a few cutout versions (like the
cd cases were chopped up and stuff) and you could buy them for like half
price or wait til the next day.. so i was faced with wether or not i should
buy the crap one, then go back and buy a brand new copy the next day or
*what* to do. tough decision right guys? well, thats about all it was.. :)

quick note- please dont think i'm psycho. well, ok, you can think i'm
psycho, but just not for this post. i had already gotten two dt discs the
day before the dream, so they were really on my mind that time, so i have an
excuse to be dreaming about this stuff. to anyone who didnt buy dt cds
before they had these dreams, YOU GUYS ARE ALL PSYCHO!!!!!!
                                                    ;)

Kevin, please don't take this the wrong way, because I mean this from the
    bottom of my heart:

    Go fuck yourself.

I am some sort of Ytsejam civil rights leader because and *only* because
I am a subscriber to the list. We're all equals here, Piggy.

There is more to life (and more to this list) than Dream Theater.

    > mailing..it is not a good thing right now.

Yet you remain because of... ?

I remember reading/hearing somewhere (it might have been at a JP clinic, I don't remember) that they're going to break Derek into the group slowly. In other words, he'll contribute music for this album, and then maybe lyrics for the next. Again, I don't know where I heard this (and now I'm trying to remember *if* I heard this).

As for other bands: I know he co wrote a lot of stuff with Brad Gillis a few years back. The album title "Gilrock Ranch" comes to mind. If anyone has that, maybe you can check for us.

    > Also, any one seen Nuno's new group in concert, yet? Lemme kno what > it was like 'cause he's gonna be at House of Blues here in Chicago on > March 22 and I think I wanna go. Thanks!

Hey, anyone know when they're hitting the East Coast?

As long as you're not going to wreck the curve, you can stay. :)

You goonie crackhead. I'm thoroughly impressed if you picked all that up after *one* listen. I'm *still* discovering the subtle little nuances of that album. I gotta use my headphones more often.

Oh, by the way, here's today's Public Service Announcement: "Space-Dye Vest through your headphones is as close as you can get to a religious experience without being Vince."

Damn, that's what I was trying to say. I gotta learn to edit myself better at 4:00 in the morning. Thanks, Eric.
