    If this is truly the video I have that I bought for 10$ I would say it is
    very over produced. Basically looks like an MTV video to me... I'll check
    it tonight to see if it is the Live in '94...

    ACoS has nothing to do with Dead Poet's Society. It was written by Mike
    based on the loss of a loved one, I believe his grandmother, although I
    could be mistaken. If you think about this and follow the lyrics, it does
    make a lot more sense. Most of the stuff in there like Crimson sunrise
    and sunset are symbolic for birth and death. As far as why the stuff in
    the movie sounds familiar, it's because that's exactly what is in the
    song. The samples you hear in the song are *from* DPS. However, there is
    no real connection between the movie and song other than the Carpe Diem
    theme in both.

    I ordered a copy of the Subconscious CD about a month ago from James Arin
    and he told me he would mail it about two weeks later. I still have not
    received.

    I was wondering if anyone else had any trouble getting this CD from him.
    I have emailed him twice and he does not respond.

    If it's on its way, then that's cool. I just wanted to make sure I didn't
    get ripped off.

    Thanks for the Dream Disc update. I was just getting ready to
    call them again but you've saved me the trouble. I ordered this
    thing on December 9th and now I'm supposed to receive it in mid-March?
    What's up with that? Are they gonna offer us any type of discount
    or maybe a coupon or someshit to attempt to make up for the long wait?

    Well, instead of getting it for Xmas, it looks like I'll be getting it
    in time for my birthday (March 14th).

    I've been looking around for another source to get the album from
    and I heard from Knights of the Round this very morning and they
    said "yes, Noise Records is having problems delivering it and
    we are currently out of stock of Superior". If you are gonna ordered
    it from a US supplier, you better have them check the stock first.

    BTW - Any other UMBC students here other than the ones I already know of?

    If ya woulda gone one more directory down in the 'tage tree ya was in ya woulda found the TSO webpage:

    http://www.winternet.com/~savaweb/tso/

    As far as I can tell the version of Sarajevo on TSO is exactly the same as that on DWD.

    TSO is, I believe, largely 'tage producer Paul O'Neill's project with most of 'tage being major contributors musically, with numerous guest vocalists. It is one of my favorite CD's. It is also quite overtly Christian (the belief, not the religion) in its lyrical content. Which leads me to a question of 'tage's spirituality. There are also numerous hints on 'tage's earlier works as well, particularly *Streets*. But some may not want to discuss this further in the present forum. (Email privately if you have any further insight; I'm quite interested.)

    Hey,

    Does anyone here listen to Amorphis? I picked up their latest release, "Elegy" a few weeks ago, and like it quite a bit. I would prefer the guitarist play some freakin' solos once in a while (being a guitarist, this bugs the shit out of me), because he sounds like he has potential to do some good stuff, but he never really goes off. The CD took me a while to get used to. I first read about them on the BNR Metal Pages, http://www-cse.ucsd/users/bruss/Metal/Metal.html , and they seemed worth looking into. I think it was the sound of the keyboards that bothered me at first... not the actual playing, but merely the effect he was using. He seems to be into that Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here kind of sound... but after further listens, I'm getting a better feel for it in this type of music. I've heard one of their previous releases, Tales from a Thousand Lakes, (or something close to that) has a progressive sound to it as well... anyone know more? Thanks!

    * Ordering is ready to begin for the new year. I will be back at school on * the 15th, and shipping will resume on the 22nd. All the ordering info is in * here, and if you need more, try the web page at:

    http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

    * After a lot of work, I managed to get all of my records in order, so this * update is 100% accurate in regards to the numbers of shirts sold and * remainging, etc...

    The XXL shirts are now sold out, and the XXXL shirts have been sold out since last week. There is still one Medium shirts, 6 Large, and 67 XL remaining.

    I did manage to make the money to make the final payment in time for the shirts. From this point on, the shirts will be going towards paying back my loan for the downpayment. Thanks again to everyone who has ordered, and all of you who plan to.

    I would just like to take this chance to thank everyone who has been so supportive of the shirts... It's nice to know that my work on this project is appriciated. And special thanks to Chris Hailey for the amazing artwork.

    ======== Web Page ========

    There is a web page online, complete with ordering instructions, facts and figures, comments on the shirts, actual scans directly off the shirts, a list of paid orders, and a mini FAQ. Check it out at:

    http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

    ======= Details =======

    The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Hailey in Washington. The graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space visible behind.

    The back of the shirt is in a solid light blue color. The majority of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty logos.

    The current lot of shirts is 217 (they printed up more than I asked for, but I'm not complaining). If those run out, and demand is high enough, I may run another with a slightly different design.

    You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at: http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

    Please note: Due to some legal issues, the University will no longer allow me to keep this commercial advertisement on their server. To sidestep this issue, Chris Merlo was kind enough to put the page up on his account. Please go to the URL above and follow the link to the new site.

    ======= Pricing =======

    The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged $23 for a shirt!). If you require a size larger than XL, please let me know ASAP so I can get those orders in. There is an additional $1 charge for each size increase (ie. XXL = $17). If you are picking the shirt up from me directly the $16 price stands. If you can't get the shirt in person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.

    I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the balance.

    The rundown: M, L or XL shirt, picked up: $16 M, L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20 M, L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25

    ============ Availability ============

    Size: Sold: Reserved: Remaining: Total: ----- ----- --------- ---------- ------ M 4 0 1 5 L 32 0 6 38 XL 79 0 67 146 XXL 24 0 0 24 XXXL 4 0 0 4 ------ ----- --------- ---------- ------ Totals 143 0 74 217

    ======== Ordering ========

    The shirts are open to mail ordering now. Mail orders will be shipped out every Wednesday via Priority Mail for US orders, and airmail for all others. Checks and money orders will be cashed before the order goes out, most likely on Monday. So far, mail orders have gone well, the only problem I have had has been with the bank, not the post office, so don't worry about your orders. All US orders are insured for the amount paid for the shirts and shipping, and insurance on airmail depends on the country and other aspects.

    To order, send a check or money order for the proper US dollar amount (see pricing above) to:

    Pat Griffin 117S Hudson Hall <-- Note the change of address! 1202 E. Rollins St. Columbia, MO 65201

    Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars.

    Be sure to include: Your name. Email address. Mailing address. Phone number. Quantity of shirts you want to order. The size of each. Whether this order is for pickup for mail order.

    I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email.

    Hey Jammers, Why are some of the veterans of the jam blaming us newbies for ruining it lately. I've been on the jam since around digest #1800 and many of the viscious flame wars have involved the elders. I am not blaming anyone, flames happen because it is hard to communicate tone and sarcasm on an e-mail message so don't blame the current state of the jam on us newbies. The jam is a reflection of all of us. One thing interesting about the bigger flame wars is that people with names like Bafu and Ptacek have mixed it up among others, but the goon has not dropped the gloves. He's probably the instigator, which carries a 10 minute misconduct penalty. Take a seat in the penalty box you goon. ;) And to those people who subscribed and are not happy with the content, did'nt it say that on this list topics other than DT were discussed such as other bands, religion etc? And about sigs. My interpretation on sigs are that they should represent the person. If you don't like a sig, ignore it. The only sigs that are not needed are those that take up enough bandwidth to fill a whole jam. Lighten up guys. It's amazing how testy jammers become when they are starved for new DT material. Release the hounds!

    Ok, there are two possibilities...either (1) you've already transfered my reservations to someone else because you haven't heard from me, or (2) you're about to and that is what the above (maybe) refers to.

    If it's the former then I'm just out of luck. I saw lots of rumors floating around, and with the delay on PT and the change from T to DoW, I hesitated in sending $$.

    If, however, it's the latter...please give me another chance. Seeing you posting again and putting up a web page restored my confidence. You'll get my cash right away this time. I promise!
