really? i prefer the fact that he doesn't just go off. it shows a great deal
of restraint for him not to go off and screw with the atmosphere.
if you want to hear him solo a little bit, check out "tales from the thousand
lakes" or the "black winter day" ep.
also, they will have another ep out in several months (entitled "my kantele",
i believe).

Greetingz and salutationz, fellow Jammerz!
A few Jams ago, I read something about somebody wanting to know the
quality of a Ronnie Scott's 2 CD Boot they found. If it's the one I got
(entitled "Uncovered"), the sound quality is excellent - I'm almost positive
it's a soundboard recording. The CD is from Kobra records (Krcd 08//9) if
that helps you identify it. I'd highly recommend the CD's. It's great to
hear how the show really went down that night. It's a nice contrast to the
cleaned-up versions of the tunes that appeared on ACoS and the DTIFC CD (Not
that the Cleaned-Up versions aren't totally kick-ass... it's just a different
point of view.). It's the full show, plus some other goodies: Space Dye
Vest (KM Demo), Carry That Weight, O Holy Night, Don't Look Past Me, Mission
Impossible, To Live Forever (Acoustic), Indulge In Reverie, and A Late
Summer's Rain/Schizophrenia. Anywho, I'd consider it a good investment of
$60, but then again, I'm completely insane and would pay a small fortune for
DT Boots if I wuz desperate enough! %-) By the way, if anyone wants to
trade tapes of any rare DT recordings (esp. Fix showz!!), E-Mail me privately

This happens. Funny, it seems. A solution is to set your email software so
that the magic button is a "Queue" button instead of a "Send" button. This
way, you get one more chance before accidentally telling your girlfriend you
had a nice time with your mistress the other night. Or boyfriend....which
ever. ;)
Of course, some of you don't have fancy-shmancy email software like this.
But it's a good thing to keep in mind.

Hello. One of the surest ways to get me to post to the jam is to make a
comment concerning supposed "80s" hard rock bands like Warrant. People who
have been on the jam long enough know my love for bands like Warrant and
from time to time I tend to come out of the woodwork and correct
misconceptions about the music that I hold dear. Now, I don't mean to
imply that you can't write in saying things like "Motley Crue sucks" or
"Prog is better than Poison." Of course you can. It's a free country and,
as the last week has so adaquetely demonstrated, a free ytsejam. Everyone
is entitled to their opinion and the right to express it. But I feel the
need to write in and correct a popular misconception about Warrant.
Warrant does not, at the present time, use ANY overdubs live. I say "at
the present time" because during the tour to support Dirty Rotten Filthy
Stinkin' Rich they used sampled background vocals live, a practice that is
used today by such widely respected bands as Aerosmith (and even DT: "6:00
in a Christmas morning" and the beginning and italian parts in TTT ring a
bell?). But for some reason, most likely because at the time they were
becoming very successful and under heavy public scrutiny, they caught a
lot of shit for it. I have the live homevideo from that period and it is
painfully obvious what they are doing. That fact, compounded with the
guitarists' use of "coaches" to help them plan their solos on the first
three albums, has lead to the popular belief that they don't play live, or
at least not entirely live. Warrant stopped using sampled background
vocals after that tour and has hired an on-stage keyboard player for every
tour since. I have seen them live three times, have several bootlegs and
the PPV special they did on the Cherry Pie tour where Jani Lane says "We
do not push play, we play our instruments." Famed producer Michael Wagner,
who did Warrant's Dog Eat Dog album, even says in the liner notes of the
album: "No artist, except those listed, performed in any capacity
whatsoever." I guarantee you that when Warrant plays live, they take as
many "chances" as any other band out there. They may not be the greatest
musicians out there and they fully admit it.
Sorry for the length, and your statement probably didn't warrant (pun
intended) the type of response I've given. But I tend to get a little
bit hot-under-the-collar when people say things about my music that is
incorrect. It's one thing not to like a band. It's another not to like
them for incorrect reasons. That's all for now.

Just to clear this up a bit. I work for Atlantic Records so here's the
real story. The album sold 150,00 copies (impressive since it was given no
push by the label) and charted at 89 on Billboard's TOp 200 ALbum Chart.
Furthermore, the single "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12-24" is the only single
in history to chart simultaneously on adult, metal, Christian,
alternative, and Top 40 radio. As for it being a collector's item, there
are plans to re-release it annually.

Hey Jammers,
It's been a while since I've had time to post here, but I just got back from
seeing Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow at the ytsejamilly famous Birch Hill and
let me tell you....If they come to your town go see them....the show was
excellent (but I must say...Deep Purple was much better when I saw them in
Dec....but that may also be since this was the first night of the US tour and
I think Steve Morse is a much better guitarist) but still it was a great
show......and It only cost us $10.....(the bouncers were selling stolen
tickets at the door...the price on the ticket was $16.....:-) ) The
highlight of the show was when they announced that they were gonna do a song
from the first album and about a minute into the song they all just stop and
the keyboardist busts out with Perfect Strangers!!!!!!!! All in all it was a
great show and I highly recomend it......also It was kind of cool when they
changed the lyrics to Hey Joe to Hey OJ....you figure it out ;-)
Keep on Rockin' (and sign that fucking petition....lets get this album out
there)

whenever he needs to hit the higher parts. Also, a very strong thread of
fishing twine will be connected to Petrucci's guitar headstock and James'
testicles, so when they need the vocals to hit the same low notes as
Petrucci's guitar and Myung's bass, all JP has to do is yank his plank....
Now you're playing with power! Shit, they'd blow out the amplifiers if
they did that, wouldn't they? It'd definitely add more cussing to the
lyrics....

Uh... ACOS based on Dead Poet's, huh? Sounds kind of like it? How 'bout
exactly like it? Jee, that must mean that Robin Williams and crew, all
trying to sound a little younger after all these years, came by request of
DT to the studios and re-enacted parts of the movie. Damn, those DT guys
have a lot of pull. Maybe they *could* really establish world peace.
Maybe happiness is complete and total within DT's work. Maybe world
hunger and economic problems could be solved, too. Or maybe all they did
was take segments from the move and overdub them into the songs. Hmm...
I guess they just aren't as great as I thought they were. Oh well, I
never thought this world could dig itself out of the shit hole it's in

As far as I can tell the version of Sarajevo on TSO is exactly the same as
that on DWD.
TSO is, I believe, largely 'tage producer Paul O'Neill's project with most
of 'tage being major contributors musically, with numerous guest vocalists.
It is one of my favorite CD's. It is also quite overtly Christian (the
belief, not the religion) in its lyrical content. Which leads me to a
question of 'tage's spirituality. There are also numerous hints on 'tage's
earlier works as well, particularly *Streets*. But some may not want to
discuss this further in the present forum. (Email privately if you have any
further insight; I'm quite interested.)
