    jammers,
i heard a cool song today, it was called up on cripple creek, and it was
by a band called the band i believe, it was a pretty rocking tune for an
older song, i just thought i would let you know that.
    later,

This may have already been mentioned, but JLB will be in THE NIGHTCLUB
chat room on AOL on Thursday night at 10:00 pm. (This is Eastern, I
guess?) He's going to be on with Kiss' Bruce Kulick, Armored Saint's
Joey Vera, and Jeff Scott Soto of Yngwie's band. They'll be discussing
their involvement with the "Dragon Attack" CD. Almost makes me wish
I was on AOL. Maybe I should get on for just one night, huh? Could
anybody on AOL maybe post what happens? I'd sure be interested to
    know! Cya!

The way I look at that is this:
Used to was that about 45% of lyrics were Kev, 45% JP, and 10% JM and
Mike. JM had 2 songs on the last two albums, Mike had 1, James had
contributions to 2, and Mike had ACOS. Kev and JP wrote just about
everything else. So, with Kev gone, someone has to pick up the slack,
and we already know that JP writes a lot of good lyrics. I'm sure that
we'll be seeing more of JM, Mike, and James (and Derek, I would think) in
the lyrics writing someday. But for now, I have no problem with JP
    filling in the gap.

Now, whether that's the case or not, I don't know. Anyone have a precise
rundown on who's written lyrics for what out of the new stuff?

Yeah, Megaforce was listed on those albums, but all the Joey albums were released/distributed by Island (far bigger than Megaforce - they had U2 for a while, I think). Sort of an Island/Megaforce joint thingie. But from what I can gather, Island was the muscle behind that.

    > Also, wouldn't it be great to see DT leave Electra and join Metal > Blade? Electra seems to not want DT to record, but Metal Blade IS a metal

Not really. Minimal press from a major label is better than tunza support from a small label, I would think. (And remember - Elektra got Metallica to headline Lollapalooza. Where was Fates? Or the Cowboys?)

    > label, no? DT would surely be welcomed there, I would think. I may be > wrong here, but aren't the Galactic Cowboys and Lemur Voice on Metal Blade

Yes, GC is. Lemur's on Magna Carta. And when's the last time you saw a video from either one on MTV? Granted, it's been a while for DT, but at least they made it to MTV - with the support of a major label (ATCO at the time).

    > records? It wouldn't be such a bad thing to see DT and Anthrax on that > label too. Jus' my 2 cents.

The indie labels are great for us, because they allow the bands we like to create pretty much what they want. But after an album or two, I don't really think they're that great for the bands anymore. These bands (especially DT and Anthrax) need *more* support now, not less.

(Somehow the indie label thing is still working for +Live+, though. More power to them, but I don't know how they're doing it.)

Wow, Jazz setting the rules down. That's an odd twist, huh? What's next? Mike Bahr getting a day job at a CD manufacturing plant?

They were on Megaforce, sort of. ATL - Live: the Island years were actually released through Island, with a super tiny megaforce name on it. Also the catalog numbers used were Island numbers.

    >Also, wouldn't it be great to see DT leave Electra and join Metal >Blade? Electra seems to not want DT to record, but Metal Blade IS a metal >label, no? DT would surely be welcomed there, I would think.

I would like to see DT drop East/West if they could and go to an indie label. They would probably have more freedom to record the kind of album they want. But for those of you that want a 2CD release could pretty much forget a double if they go indie. How many indie labels do you know of that release double CD's of studio material?

Anthrax was on Island Records before "Sound of White Noise." What the heck is this Megaforce stuff?

If I'm not mistaken, Lemur Voice is on Magna Carta, no? That's what it says on the CD anyway :) I'm looking for a copy of The Dance of Eternity....anyone selling or know where I can get one in the Boston area? Thanx...

Although its a double disc, i don't think that it is worth that much money. I found this disc for $30 at a Flea Market. It contains an average I&W show plus some tracks from a show with Charlie Dominici..Its pretty interesting to hear Charlie do Metropolis and To Live Forever...

Of all of the lyricists in the band, I've liked JM's the most. LSOAD and LtL are my two favorite songs of of their respective albums, not only cuz I dig the sound, but the lyrics as well.
