thing and there was a studio available. And since DT is having trouble

I was just reading the suggestions for signing the petition
(which you should do if you haven't already...sign it, that is) and was
struck by one of the things it told us to keep in mind: that Awake went
platinum. This is was a shock. I thought it sold less than I&W, which
went gold, if I'm not mistaken. I probably am. My info is pretty old. But
for a band to go platinum with no MTV and sparse radio play is quite a
feat. Wait a minute, I just thought of something. Was this total
calculated by world-wide sales or just domestic?

Why does everyone keep referring to LATM as a boot? I remember one guy
last year saying that he didn't regard it as an official release, despite

After attending Metallica's concert this year in support of one of their worst-produced albums ever, I did notice something that was rather ingenious:
A Metallica hockey jersey.
I think you know where I'm goin' with this idea. Who here wouldn't want a hockey/basketball/or football jersey with the name of your fave band member on the back, a large Majesty symbol in the front, and a kick-ass black/gold/silver design? Maybe even a picture of a guitar/bass/drum/keyboard/mic used by the band member, on the shoulder of the hockey/football jerseys? If I had the airbrush and money to buy a jersey to paint on, I would have probably made my own by now, but dontcha think this would sell better than T-shirts?

A little while ago (a week actually,) I posted a question as to whether I should buy a Power PC by Macintosh, or a Pentium from some PC vendor. After doing a lot of web surfing and emailing various companies (along with the recommendations I got from you ytsejammers out there *thanx!!!*), I'm looking to purchase a Macintosh PowerPC 7600/132 at my campus' computer store for a relatively cheap price.
I just hope I don't have to buy a modem seperately.

IIRC, during Iron Maiden's show there were several drunk people spitting at the stage and throwing (empty) bottles to them.
Again, IIRC (I didn't go - what I know is from the news on the TV), both got rrrpo at that fan because he hit something/someone with a bottle.

Hello all! Whatever you do, do not order cd bootlegs from RIGHT CHOICE! They are the worst. I ordered like $150 of boots from them. They never sent me anything. As far as prices go, you can ask for LaTM at Circuit City. I'm not kidding!!! They can get I&W, Awake, ACoS, WDADU, LaTM, and TSM single. Can't believe I'm actually posting to the list, I think it's been like two years or something since I last did this :)
Anyway, I'm glad Amorphis has been getting some attention here. They're running on the forefront of Finland's (which is where I hail from) metal scene along with a more Maiden'ish band called Sentenced. Both are immensely talented and have put out two great albums and a good EP in the past year and a half.
(BTW, for the record, I prefer 'Tales..' over 'Elegy', but both are classics in my book)
Now, the actual reason why I climbed on my soapbox is to promote another Finnish band called KYYRIA. Someone already mentioned Amorphis' former clean vocalist - the one from 'Tales...' - Ville Tuomi. He's Kyyria's frontman and vocalist. The band isn't like Amorphis, they're a lot more akin to Dream Theater. They have one older album called Blessed Ravings (on the label Zen Garden), and they should have a new one out this spring - if it isn't out already, I'm not sure. If you see their CD, give it a chance, you might be surprised.
Finally, I bought Live's new disc, Secret Samadhi on Saturday. It rrrrrocks! Great stuff, I'm already completely in love with tracks 6 and 7, especially 7:"Insomnia and the Hole in the Universe"

I just got back from Acoustic show case promo event of German band-----Fair Warning. I know few guys on this list know about them. They're 5 pieves German standard melodic hard rock band. After releasing their 2nd album,they're dropped from wea Germany. But they managed to stick together and made their 3rd album (titled "Go!" which out today.). I was a big fan of them from their 1st album era. So I rushed to music store and grabbed it (yeah,I paid money for it at cashers.he,he,.....). It's amazing album,(yes,I'm listening it right now.). About their acoustic set,they played 3 songs from new album, very emotional set. Everyone of them are talented. Tommy Heart (vox.) are owesome, he's far from the typical German singer. (You know most of German singers are mimics of Geoff Tate,or Rob Halford.) Maybe you are interested in the fact that guitar player was presented guitars from Uli Jon Roth (ex-Scorpions,Electric Sun).

2. The manager of Bear Tracks said that they are definitely interested in hearing more about doing Another Day there. At this point I need *firm* committments from people in that area (Suffern, NY) who can get together to practise. He said that if the group can do the recording in a short time, they will most likely donate the studio time. (FYI: hourly charges are $150/160; a day's recording is $1700.) I need also a *firm* committment from engineering peoples, someone who can run a soundboard and who has tapes/zip drives/equipment. Not knowing what techie stuff you are supposed to drag to the studio yourself, I hope that SOMEONE out there does.

I don't watch MTV all the time, but the ONLY tiime I saw DT on MTV was when LaBrie was on Headbanger's ball. Elektra hasn't exactly shown support for any of their metal bands. When was the last timem you saw the video for Fueled? I've only seen the video a couple of times and only on Muchmusic. Not that indies are any better, just that if they aren't getting support then they might as well go to a place where they have more control over the music they put out.

I made a mistake. It wasn't Right Choice. It was CD Wherehouse. DO NOT order from CD WHEREHOUSE. They're the ones that suck. Right Choice did get the stuff to me, but it took a long time. I had to write them to remind them that I placed an order. After I reminded them, they sent it two day air. The reason that it took so long is that the stuff I ordered had not yet come from Europe or Japan. SO they had to wait. The fact remains that they forgot. Just had to clear this up. Tony

Hey, I just got some CD's from BMG-RHCP's Mothers Milk, Rush's 2112, King Diamond's The Graveyard, and Mercyful Fate's Into The Unknown. Let me tell you, call the headquarters of BMG instead of mailing the card back. My stuff came in less than a week as opposed to the usual month plus. Anyway, Listening to MM, the first song, I forget the name, there are some samples in the middle of the song. I SWEAR the first one is a Mr. Bungle song but I can't think of what it is. The second sounds like Aerosmith and I have no clue after that. Anyone know? Also, looking at Rush in 1976 makes me sick! I CAN'T STAND 70's FUTURISTIC LOOKING CLOTHES!!!! Neil looks like a Bee Gee and Alex looks like a fruit! Oh well, I guess times change, huh?
