I "talked" to Derek this past Saturday via AOheL....they've been in the
studio 24/7 and are taking a short break. He's doing a few Ethyl Mertz gigs
right now....then they'll head back to the studio.

You can't blame them for taking a break. The label is causing them so much
headache, and I'd get a little burned out if I were in the studio
    24/7......wouldn't you?

** In case anyone is wondering, Chris Ptacek does not work for me. :) He's
** just a really nice guy who was kind enough to give a 'laymans view' of what
** the shirts are like. I'd like to thank him, because there's no way I could

    * Things are finally organized around here, so you can look forward to
    * skipping these updates on a weekly basis now. :)

Ordering is ready to begin for the new year. I am back at school on, and
shipping has resumed. All the ordering info is in here, and if you need
more, try the web page at:

       http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

After a lot of work, I managed to get all of my records in order, so this
update is 100% accurate in regards to the numbers of shirts sold and
    remainging, etc...

The XXL shirts are now sold out, and the XXXL shirts have been sold out
since last week. There is still one Medium shirts, 6 Large, and 67
    XL remaining.

I did manage to make the money to make the final payment in time for the
shirts. From this point on, the shirts will be going towards paying back
my loan for the downpayment. Thanks again to everyone who has ordered,
and all of you who plan to.

I would just like to take this chance to thank everyone who has
been so supportive of the shirts... It's nice to know that my work on
this project is appriciated. And special thanks to Chris Hailey for the
    amazing artwork.

    Web Page
    ========

There is a web page online, complete with ordering instructions, facts
and figures, comments on the shirts, actual scans directly off the
shirts, a list of paid orders, and a mini FAQ. Check it out at:

    http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

    =======
    Details
    =======

The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features
a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Hailey in Washington. The
graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind
a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space
    visible behind.

The back of the shirt is in a solid light blue color. The majority
of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title
at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the
bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty
    logos.

The current lot of shirts is 217 (they printed up more than I asked
for, but I'm not complaining). If those run out, and demand is high
enough, I may run another with a slightly different design.

You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at:
    http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

Please note: Due to some legal issues, the University will no longer allow
me to keep this commercial advertisement on their server. To sidestep this
issue, Chris Merlo was kind enough to put the page up on his account.
Please go to the URL above and follow the link to the new site.

    =======
    Pricing
    =======

The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert
quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged
$23 for a shirt!). If you require a size larger than XL, please let me
know ASAP so I can get those orders in. There is an additional $1 charge
for each size increase (ie. XXL = $17). If you are picking the shirt up
from me directly the $16 price stands. If you can't get the shirt in
person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.

I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the
shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize
this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices
are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the
    balance.

    The rundown:
M, L or XL shirt, picked up: $16
M, L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20
M, L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25

    ========
    Ordering
    ========

The shirts are open to mail ordering now. Mail orders will be shipped
out every Wednesday via Priority Mail for US orders, and airmail for
all others. Checks and money orders will be cashed before the order goes
out, most likely on Monday. So far, mail orders have gone well, the only
problem I have had has been with the bank, not the post office, so don't
worry about your orders. All US orders are insured for the amount paid
for the shirts and shipping, and insurance on airmail depends on the
    country and other aspects.

To order, send a check or money order for the proper US dollar amount (see
    pricing above) to:

    Pat Griffin
117S Hudson Hall <-- Note the change of address!
    1202 E. Rollins St.
    Columbia, MO 65201

Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars.

    Be sure to include:
            Your name.
            Email address.
            Mailing address.
            Phone number.
Quantity of shirts you want to order.
            The size of each.
Whether this order is for pickup for mail order.

I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email.

Well, closest real place here is either at the Boise State University
Pavillion. It's not too big, but alot of real kewl bands have shown
up there in the past and seem to really pack it in.

Another place is the Salt-Aire in Salt Lake City. Not as comfortable
as the Delta Center or Salt Palace (unless you're in the nosebleed
sections), but I'd love to see DT in a kewl place that was Genera
Admin. I've been to only one General Admin concert (Megadeth) and it
was the funnest of all the concerts I've been to. Besides, if you're
persistant enough, it's not too hard to get front row at those
things. At least not at the Salt-Aire. I was front row at Megadeth
for about half the concert. :)

For some real kewl DT art that should be cover art, check out Chris
    Hailey's page at http://weber.u.washington.edu/~pass/dtg.html/
This stuff rules and by the way. You'll see the modified Ytsejam
T-shirt design in there. Yup. Chris made that rad one that's the
background for my DT Theme's wallpaper. :)

DT always plays the Strand in Providence, which is cool, 'cause it's only a
25 minute drive for me. The place is great (great acoustics, great
    sightlines, holds about 1200 people).

The only problem is caused by those great sightlines. The place is like a
theater with all the seat removed, which means the place where the fans are
standing is on an incline. It makes it much easier to see the stage, but
it's MURDER on your back standing on a hill for 3+ hours. I've been to over
a dozen shows there and I almost always need a chiropractor before I can
    drive home.

But of course, a little back pain is a small price to pay for live DT. :)
I've seen them there 3 times now, they've rokt knads every time, and there
have been increasingly more people at each show, which I think is a good
sign for the immediate future of the band.

When they visit the Phoenix, AZ area, they should definitely NOT
play Club Rio, where they have played their last three times here. It was
packed like Birch Hill last time they played it. I would definitely say
Mesa Amphitheater, possibly even Symphony Hall. If the new album gets a
good reception by the public, Compton Terrace. The capacities of those
venues are in line with what the band needs (3500, 4500, and GA between
2000 and 7000 respectively) whereas Club Rio only holds a maximum of 800
people, and it was completely full. The Electric Ballroom and Gibsons are
both too small, and the Mason Jar (famous dump where King's X and Galactic
Cowboys played) had better not even come into consideration. They can use
the warehouse across the railroad tracks from me and fit more people in
    comfortably than at the Jar.

BTW to the guy who posted that he "caught" DT vacationing at
Disney World... well, you know, the guys in the band ARE human. They need
downtime too. Granted, they've had a lot of it lately, but I think I can
actually speak for the band when I say the studio is the one place they'd
really like to be these days.

Someone recently asked me in a private e-mail what I meant a few weeks ago
when I said the "merchandise from the Fix For '96" shows would soon be on
sale at the rsabbs website. I guess this issue hasn't been discussed here
on the list very much with all the Tribute-spawned barbarics flying around
    and whatnot.

So. What I meant was "the merchandise from the Fix For '96 shows would
soon be on sale at the rsabbs website" just to clear up any lingering
confusions. By the way, it's all on sale NOW. The hats, the shirts, Ziploc
bags of James LaBrie's sweat, the whole nine yards. Get 'em while they're
    hot.

A cool place for Dream Theater to play in the Northeastern part of Tennessee would be Viking Hall in Bristol, TN or Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN.

    Hey jammers!

It's been a while since my last mail. Recently i've had discussions with ppl who consider the "Awake" album unworthy of Dream Theater, that it's a cold, mechanistic album without feeling. They say James's voice has fallen to growls and has no emotion, and that most of the songs are longer than they should be.(someone argued that Scarred could be 6 minutes and not 11).They brought as comparison Shadow Gallery and Crimson Glory.I really had to agree that Shadow Gallery and Crimson Glory are awesome bands "Awake" is awesome as well. The fact is that I consider Awake the least satisfying work of DT and I expect a turn to I&W style in the next album.

Can anyone comment on this CD? I've heard it's new age but that's all I've heard about it. I just ordered it so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanx.

On a tip from Maddy I went to a site that features a wav from a new Queensryche song... and I have to say, that as a pretty big fan, I was pretty let down. I hope the rest of the album is better than this... it was sort of a Beatles meats Stone Temple Pilots thing... not really impressive for what they can do. I guess if it wasn't Queensryche I'd probably like it somewhat... but I have much higher expectations from the band.

Oh, and with some of the stories I've recently heard about some of you Ytsejammers, I think I'm gonna start an Anti-Stalking campaign to protect Dream Theater. I think a few of the DT fans on this list either have too much time on their hands, or really need to develop functional lives. Let's just enjoy the music, without any of this weird "Robert DeNiro-The Fan" bullshit, and let Dream Theater be people in their private time!
