I finished my mere 20 dubs in only nine days (I'm quite proud of myself) and
so if there is anyone else interested in the Toad's Show from 12-6-96 let me
know. I am really looking for things to trade, but I guess blanks would
work, but it will have to be four for two. Hope everyone is enjoying there
tapes, especially Stan wherever you are, because you are why the world
remains a cold and dark place. Take the time.

Anyone from the Boston area up for a road trip? Leave in the YtseRam
Friday night, create a few avalanches in the Buffalo area, bribe the
border patrol, engage Toronto Smokies in a high speed pursuit, but most
importantly arrive at the clinic ON TIME :)

In the Boston area, off the top of my head:

Paradise - decent club, but small. it'd be louder than a shuttle
    launch
Orpheum - large, great acoustics, my second choice (see below :)
Mama Kin's - tiny, Wacky is backup band :)
Strand (RI) - decent acoustics, medium size
Ocean State - around the corner from Strand, large, great acoustics
    (used to
                  be an opera house)
    Civic Center (RI),
    Fleet Center,
Centrum - all shaped like a bowls, many seats
my house - not many seats, horrible acoustics, great Hors D'Oeuvres
    :)

Here, as promised, are the titles and details of the two new songs the band
    has completed:

A New Millennium (8:15) (lyrics by MP)
Speak To Me (6:15) (lyrics by JL)

These, along with the other new material, now makes about 2 hours of music
they have completed. We now wait to see what makes it to the final cut!

    For now,

Just checking in on the MC website, on this, my fourth sickday since the
seventh grade (the other three also occuring this week, coincidentally...),
and I happened to notice Trent Gardner will be playing trombone on the
upcoming Magellan album. And the significance of this find? Nada.
Smalltalk. ...So, word on the street's Magellan's become a ska band...

Does anyone own that World Trade album, "Euphoria"? Of all the Magna-bands,
I hear of them the least on this list. Last. Lizst. Lice. I dunno.

Ummm... recording with who? As of two days ago DT was scheduled
for a meeting with Elektra in about two weeks to discuss getting into the
studio. This info comes from one of the Overseas DT fan club organizers,
and it's verified by a letter one of the committee members received from
Portnoy stating that they haven't started recording yet (as of 2 days
    ago).

Ha ha. Nice try. You said I get $50 for what I said! Pay up!
(J/K). I hope no one really needs a laymans view of a t-shirt. That
would be scary. Maybe a technical description would be even more
    frightening!

DT has played the Vic Theater the last few times they've dropped
by Chicago. I like this joint a lot... but I'm concerned that they're
gonna end up at the Aragon Brawlroom next time around... that's a decent
joint, but it's too big! I need something smaller!

Thanks for the tip, Bafu! I ordered and received 3 separate Fix
for 96' boots from the site, and MAN do they rule!

Jim Matheos's First Impressions is a top motch acoustic
guitar/cello ( I think it's all cello... could be viola too ) instrumental
album. Very deep and moody. It can depress you majorly... the melodies
are very powerful, though subtle. Almost all of the guitar is
fingerpicked and he has a few different styles and sounds on the album.
Classical musicians/fans will probably dig this one, as well as people
with an open mind. There are no drums or percussion.

I'm not sure exactly what the Z-Rock Savatage worldwide live is but I have a
copy of a radio broadcast from Savatage in 1987 playing on Z-Rock. The sound
quality is not too great but they do play a lot of classics:
    Legions
    Strange Wings
    City Beneath The Surface
    The Dungeons Are Calling
    Hall Of The Mountain King
    White Witch
    Power Of The Night
    Devastation
    Sirens
and a great and maybe even classic Jon Oliva interview.

Hey there! I know the guys in DT are human. I DIDN'T know that DT had been in the studio lately. To my knowledge, they were still waiting for the green light to go into the studio. Hey that's cool. I'm glad that they have been living in the studio lately. All I was trying to do was inform everyone about a little experience my friend had in Florida. I did not mean to give the impression that I was pissed at the fact that they are in Florida. I wish I was! :) Breath in, breath out, Tony

Question #1: Has anyone dealt with Wildside Imports? How are they?

Question #2: I plan on picking up a bass this summer. Any suggestions on what to get for someone who is a beginner and cannot spend billions of dollars in case I suck at it?

Question #3: Is there any hope for the DT album to come out this year?

Feel free to e-mail me privatley on these issues if you don't think they should be on the jam: rctaylor@uiuc.edu

It looks like our old friend Charlie isn't an anthropologist after all. You spelled his last name as "Dominique" rather than Dominici.

At the beginning of Wed. Night's grammy awards, the announcer mentioned that "The grammy award covers all types of recorded music. My question is....where's the Progressive Rock category...just imagine...if Dream Theater came up on stage and played Ytsejam or something like that...they'd blow every other band there away!
