This guy had every right to say that something (in this case
Marillion) sucked. I don't think we have ytsejam police yet stating that
we can't say anything "sucks." I hope we never do. I think this poster
wasn't descriptive at all in why "Marillion sucks" but why are some people
telling him that he "can't post crap like that?" He wasn't trying to
offend anybody. And so what if you got offended. Deal with it. People
start ripping apart anyone that slags on their favorite bands. Why must we
do this? Are you afraid that their opinion actually has value? Just ignore
    them.

    > This is not really a flame... Just an honest opinion... ;->

This statement brings up another question: howcome after flaming someone
does the poster say "this is not really a flame?" I took this post to be a
    flame.

I can't believe some people get so easily offended if they don't see an
"IMO" after someone's honest opinion. Would you have flamed this guy if he
had said "IMO, Marillion SUCKS?" Hmmm...

    Hey guys,

It's been several jams since this guy posted his suicide message,
but I thought I should repost the header of the original message:

    >Date: Sun, 22 Dec 1996 09:30:41 -0800

    >Subject: I'm sorry
    >Message-ID: <32BD7041.7FFC@bga.com>

First off, the msg was posted on 12/22, but didn't show up on the jam
until 1/1. Secondly, the To: field appears to be to several addresses
(with the AIX post, which I assume is an auto-crosspost). So it seems
likely that this guy got this post all over the internet, and is not
necessarily a ytsejammer. I'm glad the guy is ok, but hmmm.. looks
a lot like he wanted attention to me. IMO.

one of the things that separates this list from others is the fact that
we're a lot like a giant family.. a lot of these people i've talked to so
much i know them like brothers and sisters, and like you would with any gang
of friends, the discussion isnt always on the same topic.. if you dont dig
it, thats toally fine, i suggest subscribing in ack mode, that way you can
get posts individually, and if the subject doesnt interest you, ya just
delete it, and read what does. i WOULD recommend staying on if you like DT
though, just because it doesnt come out in front, the best, first, foremost,
and coolest DT information will be found right here. :)

well, he DID know who to mention in thanks when he posted specifically to
the jam, and he began his message with

    >O.K. jammers

my guess is he posted to this and another mailing list of which he knew, but
i just lead myself to believe he's a real jammer, and it wasnt an internet
spam.. call it gut instinct. either way, he's fine, we're fine, and i'm
real proud of everyone who personally mailed him.. i always take something
like this seriously, its one thing to defend yourself when you mailed
someone being serious who was joking, thats easy, but what happens when
you're just not sure or you take it as a spam and a joke and the person is
dead the next morning.. maybe he did need a bit of attention to keep him
from letting himself go, thats not a wrong thing, everyone strives for
attention in different ways and amounts, and that cry very may well have
    saved his life.

all in all, everyone's done great putting up with this little interupt in
our regularly scheduled programming, and the people fighting with a passion
really strike a flame in my eye.. just look at it this way, if you've stuck
with the topics you're a lot more educated on peoples thoughts and feelings
on the subject, there was a lot to learn from this, and also hopefully you
can all realize how fucking good you have it, that you can wake up every
morning with enough confidence to conquer the day, and do it over and over
again. theres no reason to be depressed from reading this stuff, all the
more reason to sit outside and let the sun hit your face, because if you're
    reading this, you're alive

    :)

Something that really pisses me off is when people say a tribute album
sucks since it sounds nothing like the original material. Dont you
realize what the word tribute means? It is a tribute for God's sake. That
means the performers can perform the song the way they see fit. I mean if
all the tributes sounded exactly note for note like the originals then
they would suck. Thankfully the performers perform their very own
interpretation of the songs. BTW Devin sounds great on Natural Science...

    Hello,
Just sitting here wondering if I'm the only one who actually
thinks before I post. People seem to be writing huge apologies that say
they didn't say *such and such* the right way. Please: type then
proofread, then revise, then submit. It saves a lot of aggravation and
    misunderstanding.
Also for people complaining about the content. Everything you
could possibly want to know factually is either in the FAQ or on other
websites. What is in here are people's opinions. It can help to open your
mind to new ideas and new music, if done properly. If you don't like it,
don't think your *this list sucks* posts are going to help, because
experienced jammers skip right past 'em. Unless of course, they choose to
    flame you first... hehe
Oh, and it was nice to see that T4E and Sketches of Spain were
both in someone's changer. At risk of plagiarizing, I guess I'll list
    mine:

Four plus one gratuitous CDs (is that right?):
    1) Miles Davis: Seven Steps To Heaven
    2) Joshua Redman: Moodswing
    3) Enya: Watermark
    4) Enya: Shepherd Moons
    5) Dream Theater: Awake

All right, I guess I need to explain 3 & 4... It's for falling asleep to.
Plus I like it... And chicks dig it. hehe (I'm also plagiarizing the
*hehe*. Is this guy on nitrous oxide?)

Great. I can't touch the top of her head, she doesn't like it when people

I refuse to make that kind of promise, because sometimes I just gotta say
something and I can't always work DT into it. If that offends anyone, feel
    free to skip my posts.

And to add to your top 10 non-DT posts...

    11)Posts about jammers' babies

Although I would like to say that her first exposure to music (on the
outside, that is), was WDADU, which I played for her in the car on the ride
home today. She didn't cry, which may be a good sign, but she seemed to like
"Status Seeker", which has me a bit worried... :)

Anyway, getting on to lighter subjects, I was wondering if anybody has a recommendation for a good DT bootleg. I have Rockin' Japan, but the quality isn't so good. I am looking for one that was recorded off the soundboard. So anybody with more knowledge than myself (I'm sure there are plenty :P) could give me a recommendation. Thank you
