    Mystery lyrics.........?
1.) The very end of "Pull me under". ( just before the tape "supposedly"
    stopped. )
2.) The words said (by someone) just before they take off into the
instrumental part of "Take the time" ( you know, Ba Da Da Da Da
    Dum ......ah,.....You get the Idea.)

    Are those words French?

Woo- Hoo !......I achieved 100% DT content !!!!

Mark, as much as you want it to be that way, that's not how everyone
works. Some people need a band to catch them right away, or they never
give them another chance. Whether that's wrong or right is immaterial...
    it's each person's own decision.

    > > He wasn't trying to offend anybody.
    >
    > He didn't even have to *try*. When you say a band "sucks", *knowing*
    > they've got a lot of fans on the list, you *are* trying to offend
    > people. He phuqing offended *me*, and I'm sure I'm not the *only* one.

No, that's stupid. If I say that I think "The Gathering" and "Amorphis"
suck (which I do) I am simply expressing my opinion. The goal is not to
offend all of their fans, but rather to express my opinion and warn
people that they may want to give the band a listen before buying an
album. You need to be less sensitive. You can't go getting offended
by everyone that doesn't agree with your tastes. The world will not work
    towards your standards.

    > I did... publically. When someone bashes my favourite band for no good
    > reason, I'm there to stick up for them. I'd do that for *Dream Theater*
    > on the Marillion list too, but I don't have to... They're not shallow
    > enough to make "this sucks" or "this rules" comments (no offense).

You've made such posts yourself. Find a valid reason to go off on someone
if you're mad. Saying something sucks or rules is just a contemporary way
of expressing your likes and dislikes. I'll be damned if I'm going to let
anyone tell me what i have to like and dislike, and I'll be damned if I'm
gonna sit back and listen to someone tell someone else what to like and
not like. The Ytsejam is a relatively free speech type of establishment.

    > Then along comes this idiot that simply says "they suck", and shit like
    > that. Because of one stupid post like that, people could decide *not*
    > to check out Marillion. And that would *truly* "suck".

Get a grip. We're not a bunch of mindless guppies. One person making one
negative comment about a band is not going to cause any rational person to
abandon any attempts to check out a band. The problem is, many of the
readers of this list are looking for DT style bands.... Marillion is
NOTHING like DT. In fact, they're not even what many people would
consider prog. They're not metal. Some people make them out to be the
next DT... they're a totally different sound.

Maybe you could find a less offensive way to express your dislike of the
reviewer's posting style, but calling him an idiot is uncalled for. I
think it's pretty shallow for someone to call another person an idiot
because he or she doesn't like your favorite band.

    > Pay attention, will you ? The point that I wanted to get across was,
    > that if *his* Marillion-bashing post was "an honest opinion" then my
    > flame was one too. If I confused anyone... my post *was* a flame !

I'd say that a flame is a post that specifically goes out of the way
to insult someone (I.E. Calling someone an idiot, as you did in your post)
openly (that doesn't include hypersensitive people, who don't deal well
with people disagreeing with them) with the intent at getting some sort
of revenge for something the recipient of the flame said.

    > > Would you have flamed this guy if he had said "IMO, Marillion SUCKS?"
    > > Hmmm...
    >
    > IMO, I would have.

Then i hate to say it, but IMO, you're being a dick.

Heya gang. I just got off the phone with our favorite drummer, and he
gave me a whole bunch of info for the new FAQ update. Lots of news about
samples, who wrote what, and other things, including the EXACT times that
the various parts of ACoS start. This will all be in the FAQ soon, but I
know you all want the ACoS times, so here they are, straight from Mike:

    I: 0:00
    II: 3:50
    III: 6:54
    IV: 10:08
    V: 13:01
    VI: 16:59
    VII: 20:12

Lots of other stuff to come soon, so be patient! Mike wishes everyone a
happy new year, and said that they hope to have the new album out by
    summertime. Later!

Still not caught up on back jams,

I found the Inferno CD, Psychic Distance, in HMV in Toronto...sorry Toronto
    'Jammers...last and only copy!

I have to say I really like the music...kind of a Maiden / Fates Warning
thing going more that DT influence...

However -- the vocals just bloody suck! I mean -- there is one thing holding
the success of this band up -- get a guy that can sing!!! This dude has about
a one octave range (if that) and my wife and I pissed ourselves laughing
    whenever he screams.

Jay Peele used to hang here on the 'Jam...what is up with Inferno these
days...I remember they were looking for a drummer...I hope a new vocalist
    was in the plans too!

    Toronto.

I'm no expert on 'tage, but on the stuff i've heard, I didn't notice any
growling. They do get a bit gruff at times, but only when it really fits the
song. The one vocal effect that really makes them stand out, IMO, is singing
in rounds. They just start piling verses on top of each other. On DWD they go
three or four levels deep a few times. It sounds *really* cool.

I would recommend going to a local store that has listening stations, picking
up _Dead Winter Dead_, and listening to the last three tracks. If you can't
stand 'em, 'tage isn't your cup of tea. If you can't stop listening, you're
going to like a lot of what they've written.

I saw this used recently for $8. Curious, I listened to it.=20

The disc has wonderful keyboard textures. I was immediately reminded
of AMLOR and Division Bell. The music has a darkness about it, a
foreboding quality. If you like the song he does the vocals for on
Division Bell, you'll probably like this.
Personally, I don't like his voice, but that's just me. Sinaed
O'Connor guests for vocal leads on two tracks and she didn't even
    annoy me!
Listen to this first if possible, but if you like Floyd's
moodier stuff, you'll probably enjoy it.

It was very cool to see the Cowboys get their ass kicked! If anyone needed a

Sanders? The guy gets tackled like any other person would be and he turns
into a wet noodle. If it were me I'd probably be on life support, but this
guy's supposed to be a professional football player. I'm just a no muscle
wimp, but if I were a NFL player I'd like to think I'd be able to handle
getting tackled without having to go into the Hospital overnight. What a
    Mama's boy!

Now, to answer your question, John Myung plays the Acoustic on TSM.

For all you Phoenix, AZ and nearby jammers.

Tony MacAlpine will be playing at the Mason Jar on Saturday 1/11/97. Tickets are $5.

This is the third time in 4 months that he is playing here, unfortunately the turn out for his last two shows have been less than desirable. But the owner and manager of the club really like him and like promoting his music, which is good since I am trying to find other local prog bands to get booked there.

Tony is definately worth seeing at least once in your life time, but I will see him every chance I get!!! He is an amazing guitarist and keyboardist. He also chooses the musicians that play with him very closely. Currently Mike Terrana is playing drums, he is a phenomenal drummer. Seeing his drum solo is worth the $5 alone.

Previously he had Kevin Chown playing bass, but I believe Kevin has headed back to the east coast to play another gig. I will be interesting to see who is his new bassist.

Anyone who is interested in a pre-show meeting drop me a line. Otherwise I will be wearing a DT or Savatage related Shirt.

Here's what you'll want to know about picking up Rush vids...

RUSH: Exit Stage Left VHS and LD: Out of print. Japanese LD: Currently available through SOME mailorder places. Your best option. I got lucky and got mine at a used CD shop for $30!!! So looking around DOES pay off. Don't give up. And it was the English one!!

RUSH: Grace Under Pressure VHS and LD: Out of Print. European (UK/Germany) and Japanese LD: In print and currently available at most Tower Records, Incredible Universe, and Camelot shops.

RUSH: Through the Camera Eye VHS and LD: Out of Print. No other editions are currently known to be available. This one is actually still pretty common on Used racks at used record, CD, and video shops. You'll get it cheaply with little effort. The LD is obscenely rare, but CAN be found! I found my TTCE LD for $14.99 at Rockaway Records in Mesa, AZ. It CAN be done!!!

RUSH: A Show of Hands VHS: In print LD Original version with Lock And Key: Out of print. LD Current version without LAK: In print. This is easy to find, but you'll have a hell of a time locating an LD copy that still has LAK on it. It's unknown why they changed it. The ones available at Ken Crane's Laserdisc mail-order still had LAK at last check, as I ordered one last year. I was on a waiting list for 4 months before I finally managed to get it shipped to me.

RUSH: Chronicles All versions: In print If you can't find this, your local stores REALLY suck. :) The LD version is abundant at Tower Records and similar stores.

Good luck in your search, everyone!! - Mike Bahr - durnik@goodnet.com - ASU Sun Devils 11-1, PAC 10 Champs!

The original Kill'Em All in '83 DID NOT have 'Blitz' or 'Evil' on it. Nor did it come out in CD form. They were on Megaforce Records and original issues from 'Force back then were vinyl or cassette. On this one point I may be wrong. If you do have a CD that does NOT have these two songs, it's an original Megaforce release, very rare. If you have an ORIGINAL Kill 'Em All cassette, the fold-out J-Card will have band member photos in shapes of crosses. "Creeping Death" was on the Ride The Lightning album and the single with 'Blitz' and 'Evil' was an import from Denmark or Germany. I had this or have this as it seems to suddenly reappear in the oddest places (trunk, closet) every couple of years. As for the version of Kill 'Em All that does have these two songs, that is a re-issue from Elektra after they signed with them. It's interesting to have seen them in 8000sq ft clubs 13 years ago when they would have committed suicide rather than have a drum solo, to the current "Broadway" image currently touring the country. How the times have changed.
