Ray Gillian most definately is singing on George Lynch's 'Sacred
Groove'. He only sings on the one song 'Flesh and Blood', I am
listening to the CD right now, it also features the mega voice of
Glenn Hughes on two songs and the Nelson brother's on one. The album
is not the best though, George has done much better stuff IMO.

Ray was origonally going to be the vocalist for Black Sabbath on the
'Eternal Idol 'album, he recorded his vocals, then he was replaced by
Tony Martin, who re-recorded his voice over Ray's tracks. The version
with Ray's vox on it was never 'officially' released, but I beleive
it is available on a bootleg somewhere, although I have never
    seen/heard it.

    Cheers

In contrast to the comments about the Metallica show in San Jose, the
one I saw in L.A. was fascinating. Sure, the music was all well and
good, but the whole stunt thing was very interesting. Aside from
starting the show with the house lights on, the very conscious act of
recreating the "authentic" garage days atmosphere was revealing.
For all their claims at artistic-fuck-you-all-independance in the
face of "No New Shit" banners (true!), they still had to grasp for
credibility. Also, when James says "we're playing this for us," he
still shys away from playing "Mama Said." Maybe someone else got
this song at another show, but his bravado sure fell a little short
in L.A. ANyway, it may be Metallica on Broadway, but it's still
    interesting culturally.

I don't think that he is actively tour the country. Fortunately PHX, AZ is
close enough to his home turf (LA/San Deigo) that he once in a while drops
    into Phoenix for a gig.

I will find out what other tour dates are comming. Also if any one has
any questions for me to ask him just send them my way.

I will be asking him why hasn't Shrapnel picked up his latest release
    "Violent Machine" yet.

I sure wish ppl would exercise their right to unsubscribe. It gets real
old seeing ppl saying that they thought they subbed to the DT list. If you
don't like it, leave. Preferably without saying anything. I agree that a
few discussions on here get a little out of hand, but even the rehashed
suicide thing is not nearly as annoying as ppl saying stuff like "I'm sick
of this list cause it sucks."

Sorry about that. Is somebody still working on the DT keychain thing?

I recently purchased ACoS on CD. It took me a while but I finally did it.
My tape was getting pretty worn out anyway. The actual CD looks almost as
    cool as DWD.

So is GC's self titled a good representation of what I should base opinion
    on band from?

I wanted to jump into this snare drum discussion. I mainly wanted to
share my own snare drum "tuning" method. I have a standars 14 x 6 Pearl
Export snare with a REMO Weather King Emporer Batter head with a REMO
ring control muffler inside it, and I tighten the lugs up as tight as I
can on top and bottom. When I play, I add a rimshot in every snare hit
I do. I love the sound I get, and I've had many people comment that
they've liked it as well. Just thought I'd share.

Mine's #422. Luckily, I found a replacement jewel box for the "euro-single" case it came in. My case was cracked upon arrival in the mail. :-( But during the holiday, I spent a couple of days in Joisey, and found replacement cases at a nifty little record store in Red Bank called Jake's Music Shoppe. I'm surprised I didn't bump into any Jammers while I was in NJ. Heck, there certainly are enough of them there....or so it seems.

You really need to get your panties out of the big bunch they're in. Obviously, he knows that it's an opinion. He just said "fact" as a way of emphasizing how much he liked it. He could've said "Golly gee, this a good album (IMO, of course)" but he thought that would've sounded stupid. Some people really need to relax. If you have some kind of anger that you need to release, find a better way to do it than picking on people's choice of expression. All I can say is the first moment Mike hit that snare on ACOS I about jumped through the roof. It took me a long time to get used to that. :P I don't think I still have.

Mebbe Mike liked it that way, though and I'll have to live and learn, but it's so penetrating I can't focus on anything else in the song at times. It would be better faded back a tad I guess, but that's just my lowly, uneducated, non-dummer's, objective opinion. :)

well you maybe right, but i did finish listening to the album, and i heard brave the next day (a friend has it) , i must say brave is a better album than (six of one..<something like that>), but i think i can say something here about a band, if i like it or not, and i didnt like that band.

i still respect that you like it.

I do like rush, dt, fates warning, savatage, yes, king crimson, metallica, megadeth, slayer, led zeppelin, jimi hendrix, etc etc.... i like them and it doesnt matter if its jazz, metal, prog, clasical, its still music.

i just didnt like marillion thats my point, i dont mean to recommend , its just an opinion on a band. i heard two albums, heard them twice, didnt convince me... and thats it, i gave them a chance.

I dont mean to insult anybodys taste in music....

I suppose you don't know me, but when I say things like that I mean it as my personal opinion. That my personal opinion also happens to be fact is irrelevant :)

What does being the highest selling album of all time have to do with it being the best album of all time? Since when did popularity equate brilliance? If this was the case then the Macarena would be considered high art, at least. And Dream Theater would be complete and utter crap.

It is a very good album, tho (Streets, not the Macarena). Although it's best-ness is being threatened somewhat by some other albums...

I have been spending the whole damned day moping around the house feeling sorry for myself because I don't own SUBCONSCIOUS. Last night, I dreamt that I had it and was listening to it. So I would like to make a trade for it. Here are some possible trades I would make for it:

    1. Lost in the Sky (2 cd) & Rockin' Japan (1 cd)

    2. Limelight Gig on video (originial version of ACOS) and one of the above boots.

    3. Japanese PPV video and one of the above boots.

    4. Tape copy of the DTIFC Christmas cd for a tape copy of Subconscious.

    * Any other combinations can possibly be arranged (as well as $$$ options).

If anyone is interested please e- mail me privately (metropolis@net1plus.com) Thank You, Jon Dery
