I ordered a copy of "Behind" by Superior on the Monday before the
Birch Hill show last month. What would that be - like Dec 9 th
or something? I ordered it from Dream Disc. I called them about
2-3 weeks ago and they said it was on back-order and they
should have some within a week.

Has anyone else been waiting on this disk a while? Is there some
problem with the production facilities or is Dream Disc just
    not doing it's job?

Tori Content : I was flipping channels the other night and I happened
to stumble across some ice skating (which I would normally skip unless
it was a cute chick) and this oriental girl was skating to Winter
by Tori. It was really great!!! I never thought of it as an
ice skating song but this girl sure made it fit just right.

My favorite album of '96 : Even though it came out in '95 I think,
I would go with Jars Of Clay. It is probably the most a-typical
CD of my collection (no metal guitars, drum machines, dancy beats,
christian lyrics) but this is just an excellent album full of
well written songs. I only got this album over the
summer but I think it spent more time in my player than anything
else (Test for Echo, Working Man, Lemur Voice, etc...)
I'll put it in the CD play in my truck and listen to it going
to and from work for a whole week at a time. Check out
www.jarsofclay.com for some soundclips and stuff.

yeah, tellus is a great band, they are friends of mine here in dallas. they used to not particularly like dream theater, but i opened their eyes. :) they are huge king's x, rush, and galactic cowboys fans.

they have three demos previous to the cd stand by, as far as i know i am the only one that has all three, including the band members. :)

i also have many DATs of them that i have taped over the last few years

if you can find the cd locally in dallas, buy it. if not, order it from the web page. he same guy that did the cover art for the first 4 or so king's x albums did their cover art. it is really cool. they are a christian band, so you have to deal with that.

C'mon there ! I can't believe how much trouble you see flaming each other here. By now you all should have an ulcer ! Why can't you just bear the fact that each person has their own opinions ?!? If I stressed this much from each post I would have the greatest ulcer on earth !!! And that ain't fun at all, it's a pain in the "butt".. Anyway, I just love it when I goof around and get great laughs from it. Like some 5 years ago when I was working as a messanger and one day as I was walking around in the bank carrying mail there my shoelaces got tangled together and I rolled over, this HUGE somersault and ended in the floor SITTING on my butt STILL HOLDING THE MAIL in my hands !! I found myself cracking up and laughing like a maniac when the functionarys came to see me if I was alright..they musta thought I'm a total basketcase... gee that was fun ! Let's do it again !! Why can't you ppl just laugh at yourselves ? It's so much fun !=)

To find out the perfect Dt cover band is a very difficult task. It's just like for the making of the Rush tribute, as they needed like four or five guys per song, to play what just three guys did once. Anyway..., I'll say: - The perfect guy on the guitar would certainly be Steve Morse, or JP's Berklee teacher Mr. John Finn (Guitarists SHOULD REALLY check out the record "Don't look so serious", by The John Finn Group). They're maybe the only two guys on earth that would play as fast, harmonically, and delicious as John does. Guys like Malmsteen, Chris Impelliteri, Nuno, Satriani, Vai would do the speed, and figure out all JP's solos and riffs, but they play a different kind of style. - Drums: Deen Castronovo (you should check out his drumming with Cacophony, Steve Vai, Marty Friedman's "Dragon's Kiss", and Joey Taffolla, this drummer is really awsome, and would fit perfectly for replacing MP), Dave Dezencio (John Finn Group), or Vinnie Paul. Neil Peart, Tim Herb Alexander, Terry Bozzio, and Mark Zonder would fit in great also. - Bass: Geddy Lee and Billy Sheehan with a 6-string bass, or Dave LaRue - Keyboards: Tony Kaye (Yes) or John Lord (Deep Purple), these guys are amazing!!Emerson Lake & Palmer keyboard player (I don't know the guy's name) is also a great option. - Vocals: Sebastian Bach, ANGRA'S Andre Matos, Striper's Michael Sweet, Rob Halford. But if I really ahd to choose only five guys among the ones listed above, the perfect DT cover band would be: Steve Morse, Billy Sheehan, Castronovo, John Lord, and Andre Matos

If anyone mentions the next guys for a DT cover band, he should really visit the psychologist: Kurt Cobain(guitar), Bono (vocals), Sting (bass), Lars Ulrich (drums), and Chick Corea (keys)........

Hi Mike, just got the CD in yesturday. It sounds better than Majestic Symphonies. The bass on Critical Mass is a lot better than MS. I'll be waiting for the TFE 3CD set.

    * Be sure to visit my web page at www.ici.net/cust_pages/dre/dre.html *

Critical Mass was taken from a master MUCH closer to the source, possibly as many as three generations' difference, and extensively mastered for sound quality by the master of decibels, Scott Hansen. I'm really happy with how it came out.

And stay tuned for a HUGE announcement everyone!

    2. Kurt Cobain

-I liked a lot of Nirvana's music, and I'd be the first to say -that he was probably the most important musician of the 90's -so far. If anyone would like to dispute that, be my guest, -but can you think of another musician this decade who has had -so much influence on the music industry?

ok, I admit it, I'm coming out of the closet here...at one time, I DID like Smells like Teen Spirit, in fact, I had to learn it for Pep Rallies with the band. I guess I dug it cause it was a crowed pleaser. Anyways...something really bugs me here dude, you say, he was the most important musician of the 90's...ok, first off, Cobain never showed his face till what, 94 perhaps? maybe a tiny bit before, need I remind you what album came out in 1990 that kicked the worlds ass...Megadeth's Rust In Peace and Judas Priest's Painkiller. Now, those 2 bands set the stage for these freaks to come and play. More influece came from them than Nirvanna. The only thing Nirvanna had more of was commercial appeal, then again, if you compare the ticket sales of The Clash Of the Titans tour, to the Nirvanna tours, I'd say the Titans tour raked in ALOT more.

-Oh, and his music didn't suck. He was a great songwriter - -just because he didn't write music like DT and lyrics like -Neil Peart doesn't make him a bad composer.

Maybe suck isn't such a good term. More like boring, screaming and monotnous(sp). I remember seeing a band that a was a cross between the Pumpkins and Nirvanna, now, asides from the singer, being a total Billy Korgan wanna-be, they couldn't play worth shit and the singer sung like Cobain. The worst part was their lyrics, how long can you sing about having a rock in your shoe? That's about the level that I think Nirvanna was at.

The pumpkins are a different matter, if they got a new singer, someone that CAN sing, they'd be a really cool band to listen to. Their music is interesting but I can't listen to it cause Corgan won't stay quiet.

Oh yea, Steve Harris on bass..EXCELLENT choice :) You can never go wrong with Harris :)

Hmmm, I just got 6 cds from Columbia House. The highlights

-My first Yes cd - "fragile". Very very very awesome! They really sound like DT de-metalfyed. totally love it -Sepultura - "Arise". Thrashy. Eons better than Roots -I Mother Earth "dig" - awesome of course. too bad i already know every song :)

and now the question about the great surf songs:

    >down to my local record store and bought some surf CDs to "transport" me to >some tropical habitat with friendly local girls.. ahh.. i really dig this >stuff! any of you other jammers have any recomendations?

Well, I don't know much about surf music, but I know a great surfing song on a great cd. "CANNIBAL SURF BABE" by Marillion on Afraid of Sunlight!!! It's an awesome surfing song. And is it just me, or did anyone else think the Beach Boys sold out when they got "Uncle Jesse" from Full House?

    My DT cover band:

vocals: (duet) - Phil Anselmo, Steve Hogarth. (and sound effects by mike patton) guitar: Chuck Schuldiner ( of Death) bass: Pete Trewavas (of Marillion) Keys: Tony Banks of Genesis 20 years ago Drums: Gene Hoglan (formerly of Death)

    YEAH!

/me used to like the music of Van Halen and the jokes regarding women

THE YTSEJAM HAS CHANGED ALL OF THAT!

Well, this American has, on several occasions. I've got CDs or tapes from several bands with non-English lyrics, for example:

Deus ex Machina, _Deus ex Machina_: Latin PFM, _Storia di un Minuto_; Nuova Era, _Io E Il Tempo_: Italian Anglagaard, _Hybris_: Sweedish

    >I was just wondering how weird you find it listening to music >sung in other language than your own ??

Actually, it's kind of cool. Best thing, IMHO, is to just let the singer's voice become another instrument, and don't worry about what he's actually saying. Then the vocals just sort of blend in with the other instruments.

    >So, who's going to confess owning some foreign cd's ??

Hey, if you're an American prog fan, you've got to import something!

I have an album by Falco called Entzelfaft. I forget the exact spelling and I'm too lazy to did the vinyl out, but it's all sung in German. I can't sing along with it, but to me the music is most important, so it didn't bother me at all. To me you could have the best lyrics ever written and if the music sucks I won't like it; but the lyrics could be shit but if I like the music then the lyrics are secondary.

Sherinian: I was watching a Alice Cooper concert from Sept 7, 1995 and it has Derek playing keyboards. That really blew my mind because even though Derek was in Aclice's band before DT I thought since he was in DT now that he'd be done working with other bands (besides the Ethyl Mertz thing).

    >About Yngwie, I think you guys haven't seen him live that many >times to say he sucks ! I have to say I've seen him live I think >at least 4 times and almost every time he's been great !

I don't see if I don't like a person in concert why I should continue to go see them. I remember I while back I posted a thing about not really liking a band that many Jammers like and people kept saying that I didn't listen to them enough. Well, if a person doesn't like a band then why should they sit there and keep listening to it?

If you have questions or need info, please feel free to e-mail me at durnik@goodnet.com at any time. I won't put any more notices out like this, because I don't want to appear to be "spamming"...

Quick question to everyone "in the know": it may have been answered already, but why was "Time and Motion" dropped from the tour set after only a few dates? Technical problems? Boredom?

Take care everyone! - Mike Bahr/durnik@goodnet.com- An independent Equinox representative
