Greets.
My intial impression of Victor was "Ugh...what the funk is this spit and
who the snarg is that dude screaming? And where's his last name?" But
as I listened to the whole CD it got better to me and I think it's
pretty good. The songs that stood out were "Strip and Go naked," "Start
Today"(isn't that the lady singing who Queensryche did the cover of on
Rage For Order?..she sounds mean...). Really the whole CD is just kind
of odd.
Now onto Zebra: yes indeed these guys are still around. They play
around here(Baton Rouge/New Orleans) quite often but I have yet to go
see them. I just know they are still around.
On an unrelated and old news note, I did see Stevie Blaze's(Lillian
Axe) new band, Near Life Experience, a few months back. Real dark,
moody stuff. There wasn't really any flashy guitar solos or anything
cool like that. There were these weird candles and steve was talking
about death and other happy things like that. He sings and it is VERY
different from Lillian Axe. I thought it was cool. I just thought there
might be some old Lillian Axe fans who didn't what he was doing might be
interested...I think they have a CD coming out soon.
One more thing: What is the name of the label that put out Dragon
Attack?
Dang it! Where's my dang CONCEPTION CDS!!!!!???????!?!?!?!??!

Actually, Steve did not use that process to make that song. He merely ran
his sons speech through an Eventide 4000 Harmony Processor in order to
change his son's warbling into a melodic humor-fest. I'm fairly certain of
this, but I don't remember where I read/heard it.
Shred 'til yer dead!

In regards to:
ABout Ya-Yo Gakk... I don't find it at all annoying... it's the humor song on
the album... and just thinking that Steve spent a year recording his son
singing that, and then went thru the whole thing to find all the phrases that
were in tune, etc...

why that would be me. in case you're wondering, i clear this up every so
often in private emails, and said it once long ago on the jam, that many
people think i in fact am a cow, others call it a damn weird fascination.
but what it all really boils down to- i'm a cow spokesman. its my duty to
go around and promote cows to the people of the world. i want cows on tv,
cows on lunchboxes, cows in congress, i want them everywhere except my
bedroom (sees a lot of sighs of relief from the people reading) to sum it
up- cowz r gud.
so now i think i'll go have some cheese, eat some beef, and chill to an icy
glass of milk while i finish reading these jams.

Jan did the Miami Vice intro. There's a Jeff Beck Live album with Jan on
it. Jan also has some earlier stuff when he was diong mostly jazz.

Is Kai from England? Looks a little like the lead singer from Midnight
Oil?
When John was touring a good ten years ago (memory leak), I remember
reading an article of how he had decided on the bass player.
Paraphrasing, he had seen some guy performing bass in a club in England,
and after the show went up to him and "I'm about to tour and I want you
to play bass." Apparently, John was suitably impressed. I went to see
the trio at the Living Room in Prov. (nothing like seeing great
performers in small clubs, yeah!) and there was this bald guy on bass
that, I thought, quite possibly could be from this planet. That is,
until he started soloing. :)

Yesterday I bought GC's Machine Fish (again), though I already have it.
"why?" you ask?
Well it was in the bargin bin of my local university music store for
..$3.00!!!!
That's not all....apperently, it looks like it is autographed by all four
members!!! Although I am not sure, it looks like their signatures.
So, if anyone has any autographed GC stuff on their website or somethin',
I would like to see if I can compare the two. Thanks.

Went on a dischunt today for the Queen Tribute. Found it at
Tower Records, right next to the Working Man tribute :) in their Tribute
section. They got quite a few guitarists together to do this, Yngwie is
doing a tune "Keep Yourself Alive". Most of Anthrax does a tune. KJL
sings Sheer Heart Attack (cool tune), and One Vision(cooler tune), and JP
does a really, really, cool version of Another One Bites The Dust.
Down sides: Paul Shortino singing We Will Rock You. Not who I
would have chosen to sing this, and We Are the Champions.
The highlight of the album (aside from KJL and JP's efforts):
Lemmy and Ted Nugent on Tie Your Mother Down.... Awwwww Yeah. :)
Does anyone think the KJL was made to do a Queen tribute album?
He does an awesome job with Queen's lyrics.

It's been said a million times, and now I finally get to say it (OOH!)
It's a proper name, therefore should ALWAYS be spelled Theater. You
don't see people saying Megadeath or Corn. Why not? That's how the words
are spelled. But the bands decided to call themselves Megadeth and Korn,
so people pay enough attention to say that. Just like if people were
calling you Kevon because that's how it's spelled where they come from.
Sure, it's an honest mistake, but when people own DT CDs and belong to
the DT mailing list, they should at least have enough common sense to
spell the word the way it was meant to be spelled.
Note: I am far behind on my jams and stuff. I read on the metallica
mailing list that Sepultura had split up. This could just be a nasty
rumor. If ANYONE has heard ANYTHING, please e-mail me

Some recommended prog-metal (could be just metal- nix the labels here) include:
Savatage- anything (Dead Winter Dead and Handful Of Rain are a bit more
ballad-ish than ever before while early stuff like The Dungeons Are Calling,
Hall Of The Mountain King, Sirens are a bit more heavier). If you liked EOT,
I have to suggest Gutter Ballet to you. On all material earlier than 1991,
you will hear a different more heavy metal oriented voice (Jon Oliva)
although on the Streets disc, he does many powerballads. There are also many
imports from the band including a best of set called "From The Gutter To The
Stage", 2 live albums- Japan Live '94 (with Zak) and Ghost In The
Ruins/Final Bell (with Jon), theres also Jon's new band called Doctor
Butcher (an awesome album) and a great deal of others.
Dream Theater- Live At The Marquee (this goes for import price) and The
Silent Man CD single (10 bucks with Take The Time demo and Eve) and a great
number of bootlegs.
Imperium- Too Short A Season- great progressive heavy metal reminiscent of a
progressive Megadeth (1993, Leviathan Records)
Metal Church- The Human Factor- this is the only MC disc I'd recommend for
prog-fans although the rest are great but this one is produced by Paul
O'Neill (of Savatage fame) giving it a very progressive metal feel.
Thats about it for now

Those Beast Wars toys ARE the new transformers. They came out with a new
television series and everything. It's all done with Silicon Graphics
workstations and looks great. The leader is Optimus Primal and the big bad
guy is Megatron a T-Rex (they are in no way realted to Optimus Prime and
Megatron.....in the transformer world Optimus and Megatron are just common
names like Mike, Steve or John).

(heheheeh he said sha). oh yeah and by the way i agree with dave buster

really needs to stop, it gets old as much as the other threads of which
we are aware. imo ---fuck that james' golden voice is the perfect
