I too have been turned on to a good many cds by the jam. I tend to buy
just about every cd that sounds interesting on the jam, regardless of
price. As such I can say that the easiest place to order from was
Impulse Records. I got Symphony X's Damnation Game and The Divine Wings
of Tragedy there for reasonable prices, and both RULE heartily. Very
dependable service. Just be sure to take the time to actually ASK them
how long they think it'll be before they can get you a cd if it's not in
stock. They will tell you if they don't have it in. Soon you may be
seeing a great web page for the company, including the feature of online
ordering. Got all my Angra from these folks as well.
Word of warning: Symphony X's self titled album is NOT a fair
representation of what they can do. It was poorly mixed and the vocals
were not happening (imo). Their second and third albums RULE.
Fantastic guitar/bass/drums/keys/vocals. :)
WRITE ME FOR IMPULSE's NUMBER! (Don't have it on me but will tonight).
Write me and you'll have the number by tomorrow morning. Or call
information and ask for Impulse Records in Roselle Illinois.

First:
Someone was extolling the virtues of Dio-era Rainbow, which I whole-heartedly support. BUT - he went on to sing the praises of Vinnie Appice right after mentioning the double bass from "Kill the King." AAAAAHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNT! Wrong answer. That was the one and only Cozy Powell. You may not have meant that, but that was the impression. As a certain goon might say, "ya gotta give mad fat props to Powell."
Second:
I see william has become William. Cool. Lower case sucks.
Third:
Time to ace the "Go Packers" part of my .sig - since they thumped the patsies, and won the Super Bowl.

>I thought the crue song looked fake. It looked like a video rather than a >live performance. Great song though.
The AMA totally ruined both the Motley Crue and Metallica songs for me. What was the deal with those lines?! How about the kaleidoscope-cam? Shakey-cameras make for shakey opinions from yours truly. When I watch a live performance, I want to see a live performance, not an poorly-done "music video". Call me crazy... And why didn't they do that crap to the "inferior" groups/artists (Toni Tone Tony Braxton, BUSH, et al)?
>What was with that hat that Pamela was wearing????
Of all the "jokes" on that pitiful excuse for a show, I found that the funniest. "Now we've got a special guest, and she's got something really *big*. Pamela Lee!" Then she comes out with the UberHat! It's like something you'd find on a bad episode of the Simpsons (take the bowling/Marge-thinks-about-an-affair episode, for instance).
>After all, who all here >has NOT heard the Xmas '95 Birch Hill show? Raise hands?
<hand raises timidly> Suprisingly enough, I haven't been so lucky...
Hey, how long does it usually take for DreamDisc to ship? I ordered the Superior album from them about a month ago (maybe a bit less), but it's been a long time anyhow. They better not've pulled an Apocalypse on me...
What's this I hear about a new Power of Omens album?!

It's me once again, iin need of your sevices again. I'm lookin for a good DT video boot. I don't have any, so I'm hopin for one that's of good quality. I'm willing to pay or trade for a copy of JP instructional vid, I also have a copy of a MP drum clinic. I will happily trade a copy of each of my videos for two copies of DT video boots. Hell, I'll even copy any of my videos for anyone interested. I thank you in advance. I would appreciate if replies were done by private e-mail.

For any big marillion fans (I hope no one has posted about this yet) but on the next tour, marillion doesn't think they can afford to come to the US to tour. Anyway, over on the Marillion list (freaks) the fans have set up a company called Marillion US tour fund 97, and they have raised nearly $10,000 by donation alone. If there are any marillion fans out there not on the list, subscribe now to get the info, or email me. This is an honest to goodness fundraising attempt by the fans over there, so don't just take my word for it, subscribe to the list. Sorry about the NDTC. ryan

Why is it the non-musicians can describe this stuff better than the most zesty/zany/wacky progressive-metalheads? (Or do I just need to get a bigger thesaurus? Does Webster's publish anything bigger than their "unabridged" version?)

> > Frm: Steve Borzilleri <magellan@u.washington.edu> > > > > Did Scott Herman turn into Scott Cook? > > There's a mysterious comment... how do you mean?
Just a question pertaining to the disappearance of one Scott and the resurgence of another...
One within whom the power of the dark side grows stronger with every passing moment...
Scotch's soul left us many moons ago. On his death bed he handed down his razor-capped dentures to Scott Cook, who was once a benevolent young boy with nery a foul thought in his angelic head. Then one day he crafted himself a sword with three edges, turned off all the lights, and started swinging...
Well I heard that song on the radio again. The one that opens with Queensryche's "Anybody Listening," then goes into a chorus that goes something like, "Don't fool around. Don't scream aloud. Knock yo HEAD and BAYbay just SPIT ME OUT." If you like to piss people off as much as I do, sing the first verse of "Anybody" next time you hear it.
> No, but someone who says "Spring won't come, the need of strife to > struggle to be freed, from hard ground / the evening mists that creep > and crawl will drench me in dew, and so drown" has my nod of approval.
Heck, a homily like that one could raise the spirits of the dead. Does Father Steele do the morning masses? The moUrning masses perhaps?

<< DreamnDay: ... Plus, any time a CD burner skips (called a buffer underrun) the entire disc is ruined and you have to make it into a frisbee and start another one, so defects are pretty easy to sort out _once someone knows what to watch for_. I have found that people who have a reputation to uphold can deliver very high-quality burned discs... such as James Colberg, who has done an EXCELLENT job with the Subcon and Acoustic Dreams replicas. >>
First of all... thanks Mike I'm blushing! :^) To be honest it is a very tedious process. I have burned and sold over a hundred discs in addition to this I have created more than 30 Frisbees. I have to say HP has been very eager to make me happy as they have replaced my drive three times. This last time was after they made a firmware revision and I have had no problem since. Most times it is easy to realize you have a bad disc because a nice little message pops up and says 'buffer under run at section xxxxxx' The funny thing is under that message is a button that says 'OK'. I found myself getting into the habit of screaming "NO IT IS NOT FUCKING OK" like thing could go back and undo the under run or something. I did have one disc that the laser burned around something that was stuck on the disc. One track skipped then stopped playing halfway through. Frisbee! :^( I have discovered that there are programs that can record from a CD-Rom drive to a CD burner. The only problem is if the CD-Rom drive is faster than the burner it will cause popping and skipping.
See Ya, Jim

Yes it is true as the subject line states I can make you a copy of these discs on CD. Now I say again that they are COPIES and not originals from some secret stock pile. :^) I received permission from Mike to do Subconscious, Acoustic Dreams and now Antiquities and my intent is not to compete with him. I am doing this because I realize that there are a number of Jammers that missed out on these jems and I would like to help.
