I have not heard Superior, but I have heard Shadow Gallery, and I highly
recommend their albut "Carved In Stone." Very entertaining, and if you like
DT, you will probably like this. Marillion is another good band, though
their style is very different from Rush/DT/Fates Warning. They're more
progressive, and not nearly as metal oriented. They are one of my favorite
bands, in fact my all time favorite album is their "Misplaced Childhood." I
have reviews of SG, Marillion and other bands CD's on my website listed
    below. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to clear this up...

The machine that I log into (now) for e-mail is a machine called griffin,
on the engineering, mathematics, and business administration (emba)
network, at the University of Vermont (uvm.edu). Yes, Pat's last name is
Griffin, but he goes to the University of Missouri, not Vermont.

And, if you remember correctly, it was Dream Theater that was Home for the
Holidays, back in December of '95. Pat wasn't even at those shows. :)

I just bought the new CD by Downtrodden Warrior, 'Slidin', and I must
say, this is one hell of a disc. It's definitely prog, more along
the lines of Dream Theater's Awake progression than I&W. Yet they
don't sound like a DT clone, like many bands out there.

I also just got the Eternity-X sampler in the mail. I honestly think
it's terrible. It has the worst lyrics I've ever seen, and the
vocals are terrible as well. The band itself is decent, at most.

I really liked it and ordered 2 of their cd's.

Well yesterday I met the one and only Dr. Mosh. You guys probably didn't know that HE'S GAY.

Actually, I'm not sure what his preference/orientation/curse/blessing is, but he's one hell of a Street Fighter player. We tried out SF3 at the new Wizards of the Coast here in Seattle, and he picked up the new characters like buttah (not that it's easy to pick up butter, but Mosh learned FAST). We played, he beat me, then he gave me two tokens so I could play again, then I beat him, then I gave him two tokens so he could play again. Then he beat me, and we were both out of tokens. We went 2-1, but it turns out that Dr. Mosh is a former Street Fighter champion, so I felt pretty good whippin' his butt for that one match.

Plus I now know Dr. Mosh's real name. It's Jeremy Haynes.

If you're reading this and you're the person who's impersonating Chris Merlo, e-mail me.

    Bafu Vai

p.s. Yun is a radical combination of Fei Long, Guy, and Gen. Ibuki is a streamlined jackrabbit spawned of Guile, Chun Li, and Adon. If you ever meet me, I'll be playing one of these two characters, so start practicing NOW.

Somebody asked if Kev has put out anything other than the 3 song demo and the answer is yes and no...yes, there is other material, 14 songs in total, but he never officially released anything to the public besides the 3 on the demo.

What are these 14 songs? FYI: Song For Tori Slither Blanket Hollow Roll Away the Stone (there is a "sentimental mix" out there too) Shallow Normal Words Nora Even the Waves Sun Orange, Small On the Page Sounds Like Watercolor Chromakey Almost Open

All of these are really good and its a shame Kev hasn't released more than he has...as per his words, this is his old material that was never meant to get as widely distributed as it did and he wants to move on from this work.

The Maze... now that's a really cool song. Structured well, written interestingly enough, and harmonized totally well. In fact most of "dysfunctional" is better than I thought it would be. Very much like Dogman overall, minus the spirituality. And the ELP cover is great.

DT is still in the studio. You all probably guessed it, but I can confirm it as of today. :)

I finished the master disc for King's X Acoustic Spirits. The liners are already on order so this one will beat the release date by quite a margin. The master disc makes me happier than any other master I've ever created. It's literally flawless... it's 100% faithful to the master tapes, which were themselves of excellent quality, and there are no technical problems. Plus the performances thereon are so emotional, positive, and upbeat, that it will probably occupy my truck CD player for some weeks to come. Here's the final for everyone...

    - Faith acoustic suite - Shot of Love 3.31 It's Love 4.04 Summerland 3.58 Everybody Knows a Little Bit of Something 5.46 Goldilox 5.18 Over My Head w/extended jam 10.05 The Difference: In The Garden of St. Anne's on the Hill 5.02 - Hope electric suite - What Is This? 3.45 Out of the Silent Planet 5.42 Summerland 3.25 Fall On Me 4.06 - Love acoustic suite - The Difference 3.28 I'll Never Get Tired of You 3.51 We Are Finding Who We Are 5.02

Faith - from Jackson, MS, 1991 Hope - from London, England, 1990 Love - from Austin, TX, 1991

Notes: I couldn't get Ear Candy soundboard material, and everything else was soundboard, so I went for consistency and quality. Also, the show segments presented here are complete inasmuch as they are the full parts of those shows that are documented. The two redundant tracks are different enough performances to make the listen a very pleasurable one, and I thought it was best to include all of that (and thus complete the show segments) rather than to try and squeeze another shorter segment on. Thus, there's still more I'll be using in the future on KX discs. The performances of Goldilox and Difference from Jackson are perhaps the best of each I've ever heard.

Anyway there's a full new update on my page, and also every single catalog entry has been updated in some way (even if it's just a dirt cleanup HTML-wise) so you all may want to look at that. Especially if you're needing any Acoustic Dreams or Subcon or so forth.

Also, CDs for sale... (2) copies remain: Megadeth "Razing Arizona" bootleg. $25 each (1) copies remain: Dream Theater "Fix for 96" double CDR. $40 (1) copies remain: Dream Theater "Carpe Diem" (sold out!). $35

    [sorry for my bad grammar]

Hello, It's great that there some men who listen not only to prog.-power. I must say that modern black metal is completely different from 80's black m. Such bands as Cradle Of Filth, Arcturus, Emperor, Gehenna, Dimu Borgir, Lymbonic Art are the new, wonderful wave of BM. More and more bands are using not only enlarged keyb's but also real symphony orchestras! These bands consist of talented, professional members. Black metal still develops and it's fantastic because fans have more music which they can listen to. I also wish to pay your attention to melodic-progressive death metal band like In Flames(the second album "The Jester Race"). The vocalist is using "growling" and guitars are very heavy but music is beautiful and with a progressives's influences. Greetings, Kuba.
