I recently heard from Chris Ingles (Keys in Shadow Gallery) via e-mail that the new
album is really moving along, and they should be done on schedule. It IS still called
Tyranny. The full track list is available at http://www.prognosis.com/shadow/ (which
is their official page... the one they're doing themselves).
I know Chris mentioned not having much time to put into the page, so anyone wanting to
help them with the development, and especially graphics, mail me, and I'll see if he's
willing to take any help. They're really cool people!

I've been whooping it up, let me tell you. Of course, it wasn't any major

I had it to where I hand both hands down, independently, and could get them
to work together for a few seconds, but that was about it. It's
ridiculously difficult for me to pull that off...I can't split my brain well
enough to do that really contrapuntal stuff. I had a reasonable portion of
"Count Zero," "Country Music," and "Flow My Tears" down, but those are far
more linear, and, of course, Stu make it all sound effortless, where that
wasn't at all the case with me. But I haven't played that much since moving
to the Bay Area, so I doubt I could pull any of it off at all. He's just
amazing...

This week I am taking a class on keyboard sequencing with Don Muro. We
are using the Korg N364(I;m not sure if these are the right numbers,
it's the new model) but seeing as I can't afford this I need to go
another route. I also teach middle school music and am looking for an
inexpensive sequencing program that is easy to use for eighth graders.
Don suggested Freestyle. The school may be letting us use Mac's so it
needs to be a Mac program. If you have used Freestyle or have any other

As far as favorite moments in DT songs go, the last part of Met Part I
is really awesome. I like that it ends on a very positive note.

I don't. Satriani and Vai have different styles, even from each other
(though sometimes you can hear tidbits of Satriani in Vai's playing...
teacher -> student influence perhaps?) The fact is, John Petrucci is GOD.
Satriani is GOD. Vai is GOD. The Greeks among others had multiple gods...
If I was asked to pick the guitarist that I thought was the 100% all-time
kick ass-more-than-the-rest guitarist, I would have a hard time not giving
more than one answer. One might hear a shred of another's playing and way
"Damn! This guy is the ONE." And likewise for another, because you will
never hear all of their playing for comparison. One guy might excel over
another in a particular STYLE, or area of playing (though I must admit
Satriani's lyrics on some of the songs in "Flying in a BLue Dream" were
best not read!), but unless you hear every single little bit, it's hard to
call one over the other.... in my opinion at least. :)

After speaking to Chris Buxby and Scott McGill, i must agree with
alot of this. McGill's two main influences are Holsworth and McLaughlin
(if any of you get his solo album, _the hand farm_, youll know what i
mean.) I've had the disc since thursday night (it helps to be order #001
and to live 10 minutes from Chris), it's very echolynisque musically.
Take a song like 100 Diversions (which Brett wrote, more or less) and a
song like Customer Service, and you can see where echolyn was supposed to
go, musically speaking. To quote Chris directly, "this album is my
maasterpiece" and i can't agree more.

this is a waste of bandwith in terms of DTC... i'll make up for it later

this is a call for all the Jammers in the Minneapolis area to come to a
show on Thursday night. The venue is the Fine Line Music Cafe (on 1st
Ave, downtown.) The group is Bobby Llama. It'll probably be a $5
ticket. these guys are well worth your money. they play a sort of funk
rock, with a cool horn section, and a fucking ROCK SOLID bassist and
drummer. it's not prog, but at the same time they're not your average
"cheap imitation of a mediocre group to begin with" pop band. if there's
a good crowd on hand to see them, they'll be offered a regular time slot
during the week, and that'd be a good first step for them... so let's
show a little musical solidarity and fill the place...
the show starts at 9... and if you're looking for me i'll be in my
old-style ytsejam shirt and a blue duke univ. hat... see ya there...

Funny you say that, because my only complaint about Angra is his accent.
Actually not a complaint; it doesn't really bother me, but if ever wanted
to say anything negative about them, I'd point that out. But what's weird,
is that it gets more obvious with each CD. Have you heard their cover of
'Painkiller'? 'Faster than a boolet..' haha. But as I said, I don't mind at
all; he's a great singer and is more than good enough at his english....
and he speaks a decent german, too.
..and the irony is, I'm panamanian...and I'm talking about how a brazilian
speaks english; oh never mind me, I'm just a doofus
a thought: wouldn't it be bad ass if Angra got to record with a real
orchestra? I mean that guy does some incredible orchestrations.... I
wouldn't find it odd if he had a couple of symphonies under his belt.
..and speaking of symphonies, wasn't Yngwie writing a concerto for
electric guitar? Anybody know how that's going? That could very well be the
first Yngwie CD I buy (I taped Rising Force)
and finally, do any brazilians know what the chant at the beginning and end
of 'Carolina IV' is? I'm not even sure if it's portugese, but if it is...

One of my good friends named Tarek has showed me some new bands resently =
and they are unbeliveable...(is that spelled right):)
Anyway......This band called Cradle of Filth, a truely amazing band, =
blew me away. Im a drummer so i can play most stuff (including DT) but =
this is a totally different style. Well this happened about a year ago =
and now i can play this type of music, well in a primative way, and i =
love this music.

Hey Jammers...like the subject suggests, I can use some help here. I recently heard a clip of music from both of these groups and was intrigued enough to want to purchase some of their music. Now as far as I know, Shadow Gallery has only the one CD that is found in the Working Man tribute liner note, released by Magna Carta....am I right? As for Superior, I have no clue. Can someone tell me or better yet mail me a listing of all their disks as well as the one(s) recommended most? I would really appreciate this as I am hoping to broaden my Progressive Horizons beyond Rush/DT/Fates Warning..........also, I heard several people on here praising Marillion...if anyone cares to share, what's their collection and sound like? Well, that's about it, I hope one Jammer or another can help me out here.
