Sorry. I posted this on 'JAM. As for DT & QR, you've already got all rare
    stuff officially available in Japan.

If you tell me about other fav bands except DT & QR, then I can help you out.

Well stocked music stores in Tokyo:
VISIT NISHI-SHINJYUKU,AKIHABARA area. There're a lot of music stores.
mainly you can find Bootlegs in Nishi-Shinjyuku,and rare used discs in
    Akihabara.

    Hello,
I am the only one who's reading stuff quoted on the jam that I never
remember reading on the jam? I am skimming way too much these days. Oh,
and someone finally corrected me on my sig. I had quoted Empire
incorrectly. Problem solved. I know you don't care.

Ahem... Do the titles Awake and A Change of Seasons mean anything to
you? :) Who am I to talk? The best album I have heard in the last five
    years is Satriani...

    >> Ahem. That's "FUQING" faq.

It's pretty sad when I spend five minutes trying to figure out how the
second guy spelled "fuqing" differently. :P

With the tales of many rumors flying around on this list these days, I contemplated for many a long hour atop my perch in the treacherous mountains of Chicagoland, the merit of such a return... through which I might impart some knowledge of this and that. For I, in my travels, have come to, by the grace of the gods and the patience of the Bafu Collective some form of understanding... forged in the paths of the Dark Hoe. With this new found sense of clarity, I know the true ways of the universe... energy transfer... opinion depletion... popular obligation... and the mantra of the highest lords:

    "Fuck Off."

Chris Merlo IS gay. He's just a really hairy lesbian.

Take heed all ye who shred! George Bellas, on Shrapnel Records has released an album with Kevin Chown on bass and Deen playing drums on several tracks. This is the second coming of Neo Classical, much to some of your despair. If you want to hear someone tie his fingers in knots and weasel out some of the most amazing high speed passages ever, check this album out. I can't recommend it highly enough for fans of Becker, Yngwie, MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, etc.

And Bafu put it more perfectly than ever I could: "When Steve Vai has nightmares, they feature music by Ron Thal." I've recommended this guy for some time. Now you have two people on the list who have always been very picky about guitar playing, saying "WOW"... just buy his friggin' albums, for a sick, sick time.

    1) CDA went down in flames last week....surprised no one made a mention of it on this here forum....or did I just miss it? Net porn for everyone!

    2) Finneus gauge: got More Once More, and darnit, I want more!!! obviously, there's gonna be a echolynesque sound to it, what with chris buzby at the keyboards........as merlo said a while back, there's a strong hint of where echolyn's 'sound' came from........ just as obviously, there are differences....FG goes farther along the fusion path than echolyn did, it's more experimental at spots.....but that's not a bad thing.... as someone mentioned earlier (either here or on irc last night), the guitar (Scottt McGill) sounds a bit like Allan Holdsworth at times...that was the first thing that really struck me.....that, and the female vocals, which took me a song or two to get past..... once you get used to buzby style music without ray weston and brett kull's voices, the vocals are real cool....I've said it before, my opinion of a vocalist is based on how his/her voice melds with the other sonic elements....and Laura Martin's vocals go well (for me anyway) with what's going on in FG's muzak..... only one complaint i have.....the harmonies are sort of harsh.....but that's pretty minor.... fave songs after a coupla listens run towards customer service and doogins (the evil spawn) fave thing about the album...and the same thing goes for echolyn music....is the fact that i can airdrum any goldarn pattern i want, upon any surface, anywhere, and it'll fit right in the music going on.....e-mail private like if you want an expl. of that sentiment.....

Here's some of my top DT moments:

--classical guitar section (around 5:30 on CD) of "learning to live" --ending guitar solo of "lie" --instrumental section (4:16-8:16) of "metrolpolis" --"please don't go" ('nuff said) --keyboard solo of UAGM (around 5:40 I think) --acoustic section of "voices" (it's just so etheral after the "this is not reality" part)

There are many others, but these are the ones that just popped in my head.

My all time fav DT moment is the last verses of ACoS. The way JLB sings, "I sit down with my son, set to see the Crimson Sunset..." and so on gives me the shivers. There is a sense of finality about it, but also a sense of satisfaction, because that person knows they have lived a good life.

Also, apologies for the really bad cut and paste job I did on my article 2 jams ago, I didn't hack enough out. My apologies.

Oh yeah? Hmmm, gonna have check these guys out. Saw Alan at Jonny D's in Cambridge and, of course, he rocked! At first it sounds like he's playing in a key that hasn't been invented yet, but somehow he manages to work it back into what everyone else is playing :)

I would attribute this to one of two things: 1) the general concert going Satch fan has somehow never heard of Stu Hamm (not very likely), or 2) you think you've seen the guy do it all, then he whips out something like Moonlight Sonata just to make you reassess your judgement. I went nuts when I heard this, and its just a fuqing Beethoven piece. I still can't get Linus and Lucy down...

    >take me off of your list please thank you jamie carlson jc81948@ltu.edu

Don't thank me. I don't like you. I just hate you. Don't even know you. And Mr. Parmet, since I always enjoy contributing to your threads (even though this one sounds like an NMS rip-off :) ), my favorites moments include: the Another Hand/Killing Hand segue; the verse in PMU immediately following the first keyboard solo when it just rams into overdrive; the last verse before the return to half-time in Surrounded (Once lost but now I'm found...); that semi-martial drum beat and guitar line under the first verse of Metropolis gets my stones hard; that opening reverse rake on The Mirror, the segue from Mirror to Lie; when JP's guitar comes in on Funeral For A Friend; the "balls and chunk all in one" riff right after the acoustic opening to ACOS makes my head start to bang; the "Goodbye" verse of ACOS; that solo on Perfect Strangers that I'll never have the skills to play; on TLF that palm muted guitar line after the first verse (at least on live versions); Eve; Space Dye Vest (the whole damn song); and the keyboard swell and the subsequent flamenco/classical guitar interlude in LtL always brings tears to my eyes. How's that for starters? It's a fucking shame that people do this kinda stuff. A few weeks ago someone abused *my* email address and flamed me to hell on the Freaks mailinglist (Marillion). The post was VERY insulting and also full of lies... But the worst thing was that people thought it was me, trying to be funny in a fucked up sorta way... In addition, dozens of my IRC and email friends got the post as PRIVATE email too (instead of just throught the mailinglist). I spent *three* fucking evenings answering email from people who asked me what the HELL was going on ! Anyway... This guy ended up being BANNED FROM THE LIST, because of his actions. He was the FIRST ever person to get banned from the list in the eight years that it's been around.

My point is *ABUSING SOMEONE'S EMAIL ADDRESS IS NOT A FUCKING JOKE !*

    In my opinion :

    1. D-Man should mail Skadz an official complaint 2. Skadz should track this person down and : a. Ban him/her from the Ytsejam b. Inform his/her ISP, who will probably let him/her off with a warning (this time).

Maybe this seemed like an innocent prank, but it's not. Just think about it, someone could be mailing others crap from YOUR address ! Or someone could be mailing YOU, using your FRIEND'S address. It's obvious that every dumb fuck can do it.

Just something I had to get off my chest. _____

Actually, they're REALLY all Brazilians. About the lack of accent... I'm not saying it because I live here, or for self-promotion and stuff (that'd be ridiculous), but I've seen many people, from many different places (different parts of Brazil, different countries of many different parts of the world) speaking english, and I must say that those who have less accent are the guys from here where I live (São Paulo, Brazil), which is Angra's hometown, excluding native speakers of course. Maybe that explains your point. :) About him sounding like Zak... No way! (IMHO, o'course...) Ahhh, enough waste of bandwidth. :)
