starting to get into it now... any other suggestions for my next cd purchase?
So far thats the only cd of theirs I have, and only Handfull Of Rain from

I've been fairly quiet recently (there's a first) but i've got some
things to spray our quaint little glass ytsebubble.

The (by now) overbload sexuallity thread:

    </rant on>

All of you need to shut up. Really. It's getting annoying.

    </serious mode on>

Seriously, i don't see what's the big deal is about. Whether
your gay (or lesbain or even heterosexual for that matter) should have
nothing to do with how a person is. It's not as if you're born with a
third limb or 4 ears or anything. Just deal with it. To quote Neil
Peart, "...he only introduced me to a wider reality."

    </serious mode off>

now, let's get back to some actual music content!

    </rant off>

To those of you who have already snagged the new Finneus Gauge CD
    - please e-mail me with your opinions. Chris Buzby has asked me to
gather some of the reviews (negative as well as positive) for him to look
    at. So, send 'em!

In other progressive rock news, i picked up a CD from a swedish
band called "Twin Age" which I can't seem to take out of my CD player.
It's like Genesis's "A Trick Of The Tail" but done in today's styles. If
you can pick this up, i'd strongly advise you do so. I also picked up
the new Squirrel Nut Zippers CD, which is amazing. It's kinda like a
cross between Big Band and insanity. :)

Actually, A Pleasant Shade of Grey really didn't do too much for me
either...in fact, I'm enjoying QR's Hear in teh Grunge Frontier more...

..but that's just demented li'l old me. I think it's funny that the
more people post about the gay thread getting old, the longer the thread
becomes...I'm as guilty as the rest of ya...just an observation.

If I join the Dream Theater fan club, can I order a picture of the band
dressed in drag? No computer enhancements here buddy, lezze if the band
    can do it!

Here's a story, about a band name Dream Theater, and they had 5 extremely
talented musicians...they were 5 men, performing together, yet they were
all alone. Till this one day when an exec. met the Spice Girls, and he
knew, it was much more than a hunch, that these groups should somehow
start a tour, that's the way DT became popular!

The monster riffs! *da dada da*
The crazy runs! *da dada da*

That's the waaay Dream Theater became popular!

    Message-ID: <3.0.32.19970706192637.007b9100@postoffice.syspac.com>

    Hello all,
In the next few months, I'll be in the market for a power amp to replace
my amp head, and I need to know if any of you have used or own either of
    these two Mesa/Boogie Power Amps:

    Stereo Simul-Class 2:Ninety
    Coliseum Three Hundred

Now I know that Petrucci uses the 2:90 live, but 90 watts per channel
normally just doesn't cut it for me. I'm wondering, since this sucker has
8 tubes in it, if it actually is more powerful than your basic 90 watt
    solid state.
The Coliseum 300 really intrigues me, it's only a couple hundred $$ more
than the 2:90, and it seems to pack more punch. Here's what Mesa/Boogie
says about it in the new MB catalog:

    ---
The Coliseum 300 delivers Big Block
torque. Twelve 6L6s recreate all the heinous
glory of two Triple Rectifier Solo Heads in one
four space rack. Over 200 crushing watts of
ugly attitude (per channel) keep high-gain
crunch tight and focused even at volumes that
are loud, Loud, LOUD. Tutored by
SmartPower (tm), Half Drive tames this beast,
making its wild horsepower more manageable.
Combining Deep and Modern is the catalyst for
recreating the explosive sound of the Triple
Rec's Red Channel...the sickest sound in
metal. Not a tool for the timid or faint-of-heart,
the Power of Aggression gives it the Right to
Rule and Crowns the 300 the King of Coliseum
    Crunch.
    ---

Please let me know what the main sound differences are between these two power amps, if you can. I'd appreciate any further information on these. Thanks everyone!

Peace and love, and good happiness stuff, ~Vince

Therefore I should choose conviction above reason? If nothing else, a quick way to become ostracized by those around you is to believe reality is superior to perception. I do it all the time, which probably means I should leap back into my closet and lock the door.

    > (before anyone jumps on my politically, remember that I'm a registered > libertarian, and that throws most of your arguments against me out the > window).

Well I'm a registered Republican. That means I run the planet. And I say the word is "politicalamity."

PC standard? You're the one talking about windows, pal. :)

    > And you know that sometimes you're right, even though nobody agrees > with you. I'm willing to bet that's how M.C. feels _right now_.

Yes, M.C. is just crying his eyes out because he got flamed. I can feel his pain. I'm willing to bet M.C. expresses his ideologies for the sole purpose of pissing people off. But that's just me, and no one understands what the fuck I'm saying anyway, so BLEAH!! (insert Chris Merlo's .sig character here)

    > That being said, I think you all ought to take back the stones you > threw at Michael, and keep them as ammo... we'll need them to defend > our beliefs and lifestyles as the world slides further toward the > sewer.

I didn't throw my stone. The 'jam doesn't accept messages that large. So I guess I can't apologize because I never replied to the original post. But even if I had, I'd rather have a spine and stick to my guns than take the PC way out and apologize and pretend that everyone is a friendly teddy bear surrounded by hearts and flowers and fluffy little kitties.

When Destro and Dr. Mindbender finally create Serpentor, I hope they remember to add the genes of Mike Tyson so that the cannibalistic element found so often in the history of savagery will not be completely forgotten.

Salutations from the management and staff of Ytse-Survey II (me):

We are now entering our second week of the survey, and the first has been a promising one. 17 entries were received in the first 3 days, though the number of entries has slacked off a bit. We're well on our way, but we still lack quite a bit for our goal of 150 entries. For those of you who haven't yet, e-mail me at syoung@phnx.uswest.net with your 10 favorite 'non-Dream Theater' bands/artists -- Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m., July 31st; at that point, the entries will be compiled and a Ytse-Survey II champion crowned.

Current statistics are as follows (as of 7/5/97):

Number of entries: 21 Number of different bands/artists mentioned: 97

Current Survey Top 5 (with number of entries): 1) Queensryche (13) Rush 3) Savatage (9) 4) Fates Warning (8) 5) Megadeth (6) Steve Vai

Surprise, surprise -- Early on, it appears that defending-champ QR and Rush are going to battle for 1st Place for the second straight survey. Savatage and FW were always popular, as well. Megadeth and, especially, Steve Vai are surprising early contenders. Mr. Mustaine and the boys have risen in popularity amongst the 'Jammers since last year; and Mr. Vai was nowhere to be seen in Ytse-Survey I.

Also making strong early showings are Tori Amos, Angra, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Joe Satriani.

We still have three weeks, but don't delay -- SEND TODAY!

    1. tribute@skywalker.ecn.ou.edu subscribe using the standard majordomo commands. say no more. if you're not interested in a part, don't subscribe. Don't complain on the 'jam, either. (I'm way too far behind to read current complaints, anyway.) Previous dibs and info still pertains. Email if it doesn't. Ack mode only, sorry.

    2. my latest promotions project is a halloween bash/art show/masquerade/ costume contest/etc/etc for gamers interested in the Vampire role playing game Kindred. FYI, it's at the stage center in OKC 10/31. Some of you may be into the goth scene; if anyone has knowledge of some good websites where I can ask the owner to place a link I'd appreciate the info. They'll have a site at Geocities, but that won't happen until later this week or next week.

I hope the band's in studio by now...
