    Hey everybody,

I've been off the jam for a few weeks and just got resubed. Anyway, I
must have got in right in the middle of a debate over christian/pro-life
music. Sounds like some pretty honest and educated opinions coming
    across here:

    > There's a big misconception that I _think_ is sprung out of the Campus
    > Crusade for Christ (around most college campuses). That misconception is
    > that if music isn't Christian, then it's working against Christianity. I
    > find that to be so untrue. I've watched CCfC videos that condemn bands
    > such as Megadeth, Metallica, Twisted Sister, Ozzy, and even Huey Lewis!
    > Any song about doing something your own way is considered Satanic. That's
    > a load of BS in my book.

I totally aggree with Vince here. Not so much about the CCfC stuff
(which I'm ignorant of), but about the misconceptions. Christian music
doesn't have to be hellfire & damnation. Most christian rock/metal is
more based on the troubles of this world and everyday life and how
turning to God can help you deal with these problems. I, too, listen to
tons and both christian & secular music - big deal. I listen to the
music I like and that's the end of it. But it takes more than cool music
to keep my interest, it takes lyrical content that I relate to or agree
with. I avoid satanic music because I dissagree with its message. Let's
face it, secular music is filled with lyrics of sex, drugs, violence and
living-for-today. Many christians object to that and thus judge ALL
secular music as bad. That is ridiculous in itself. As is saying that
ALL christian music is good. I've read the lyrics of many "christian"
bands and been stumped to find and christian messages within. Go figure.
Nonetheless, there are some amazing christian bands out there and to
avoid them based totally on their "christian" label is just stupid.
Listen to the music, evaluate the lyrics and then make an educated
decision. Check some of these out:

    Tourniquet
    Believer
    Resurrection Band (REZ)
    Saviour Machine
    Klank
    Argyle Park
    Precious Death
    Leaderdogs for the Blind
    Bride
    Ken Tamplin (Tamplin)............ect, ect, ect.........

                                                                    Happy hunting,
                                                                                    Matt

I agree. While I probably can't name a single track from any of his last four
releases (I buy them all just because it's Yngwie), there is nothing like an
Yngwie outburst on the fretboard. I spent my high school/early college days
wearing out "Rising Force", 'Marching Out" and "Trilogy". I think they're all
classics. I can see how someone can get tired of the same harmonic minor runs
after 10 years, but there is still an audience for this kind of music.

    Enjoy it while it lasts...

I am looking to buy a "cheap" Stratocaster. I probably can't afford one of
the older models, so if someone has a newerFender Strat that they no longer
want, please let me know. I have the following guitars available for trade
in case you don't want to sell:

BC Rich Bich (like Dave Mustaine used to play) - NJ Series
    BC Rich ST-3 (neck-thru-body)
    Ibanez Roadstar (very, very used)
    Jackson JDR (reverse headstock)

    >Because that's the most overly dramatic scale.

I DID THINK like that. But how many times did I hear his standard songs?
He(Yngwie) ALWAYS says "This new album will be my best album." How many
times did I hear him say like that? His latest 2 releases are a bit less
impressive to me. And latest 2 tours are a little boring to me (and most
of the audience at the venues). To me, maybe I should consider him as some
kind of remind-me-of-my-good-old-days-musician like NIght Ranger (I can't
believe they dealt with Sony for USA and Europe),etc....
Technically, he weaken his technic. I can't stand his long-guitar solo.
Very slow, and wrong picking...... Everybody knows Chris Impellitteri can
play better than Yngwie. I like Chris Impellitteri's guitar play. He's very
fast and melodic. And Vox. is much better than Yngwie's. You can hear what
you want on his albums. The latest one "Screaming Symphony" is available on
Music for Nations in Europe. Give him a try.

And what I want Yngwie to do is playing good guitar on melodic songs. I
think he's releasing too much materials these days. He has released 3 full
albums within 3 years and will release new studio on Sep and Concerto album
    on Feb '98.

I did like his play, but he can't play very well these days.

So Mr. Malmsteen please play good music as much as what you used to play.

    >Lastly, you have to realise, Keiji, how lucky you are that you can turn on
    >the radio and hear Yngwie. The mainstream pop shit that all of our radio

    >Gallagher. Plus you get to hear Namie Amuro ALL the time there!

Yes. It seems lucky for me (and Japanese fans) to hear rock music on local
    radio.
And Namie Amuro.... I can't live a day without listening her music. I hear
her everywhere every day. Too much..

Well, you're living in UK. You can hear a lot of energetic bands like
    WiLDHEARTS,3 COLOURS RED, etc........ Jealous........

     Thanks.

It's probably been already discussed on here a million times, but I'm
    still kind of curious....
I have the german print of the WDADU album (cost me $21 at Tower guh) and
on the actual cd they have the songs listed and who did the lyrics. On
song number 2, Status Seeker, it says that the lyrics are by Dominics and
Petrucci. Also on song number 6, Afterlife, it says that the lyrics are by
Dominics. Dominics?? Isn't it Dominici? Does everybody's cd have this
'misprint', or is mine gonna be worth millions of dollars? :>
I apologize now, if this has been repeated through the serv.

Maybe when the new album comes out, we won't have to read so much of this
NDTC political crap regarding sexuality, people pretending to be other famous
jammmers, and other total bullshit. I guess the list is really jonesin for
some new DT to talk about. My opinion: Enough Already with this totally
irrelavent to the jam issue of sexuality. I'd rather read some posts about
the Spice Girls than someone's opinion of sexuality. At least the Spice
Girls are musically related "I think" even though they suck real hard.
Currently in my Tape Player: My one and only boot by DT compliments of a
fellow jammer. Eve and To Live Forever should have been recorded. I think
it would be real cool if DT recorded an album full of Bombay Vindaloo type
instrumentals. Like what I said is really gonna make a bit of difference as
to what people decide to post. Well Enough Already outta me. C-ya

    no.

actually gay people isn't really the favorite topic of conversation around my house. Maybe I am wrong. But getting childish swearing and death threats (Scott Cook), insinuations that I can't make my own opinion (see above), and other juvenile type "you suck" arguments do little to change my point of view. Many people agree with me, many people agree to disagree with me, and a few feel they need to push their views upon me. that's fine, but until someone gives me an intelligent retort based on hard facts, I am right and you are the ones that are led astray in my book. Please keep it private. I'm just as sick of this (probably much more so) as you are.

In other news, I will not be able to afford the JPM that they have at Guitar City in Salt Lake City, Utah that I had planned to get this weekend while down there. It's $750 for anyone in the area who is interested.

Hrm... Sage advice folks. Bashing a guy for a vague opinion of what causes homosexuality only to turn around and place his own vague idea of homosexuality? Hypocrisy perhaps? I think so.

How about I post my idea about homosexuality? Would you like that? I think not. So quit bringing it up.

Hello all. I was just skimming thru the jams and one person posted that they had recorded Space Dye Vest in Ra format. I tried going to the website, but it wasn't to be found. I didn't copy the address wrong, so I don't know what happened. I'd like to make use out of that Ra player I've used only a couple of times to listen to John Petrucci! :P If anyone can help me out to send me to the site, that would be great! Thanks! Tony
