Heh...that'd be another cool album name....

Anyhoo, I found myself flippin' through the MTV station (eMpTyV, Money
TV, whateva) during thier 'stimulating' news program, and they were
    interviewing the guys from Radiohead....

Sorry if I'm striking a nerve to any possible Radiohead fans out there,
but these guys were complete fuckin' doofuses who wouldn't know the
definition of a chord if the book was sittin' in front of 'em...at least
that's the impression that I get. >;) MTV's Kurt Leadhead started noting
the critical acclaim of this band's "eccentric and progressive tendencies
which might bring longer songs to the radio...that this band may be the
one to change the way singles are marketed, etc." What did the band have
to say to this? "Well, we don't know what the hell they're talkin'
about...we just had this big mess and thought it was cool so we put it on
    a recording."

Here's my point: If the pinhead execs actually DO start looking for
longer song writers, I think we all know who's gonna rip everybody to
shreds....Yeah, Metallica will be able to too...but that OTHER band that
so many of us are binded together as fans of....

Has anybody else heard any tremors coming from the great money grabbing
record companies like this? I don't trust television enough to believe
anything 'cept CNN, and even they screw up thier fair share of stories
sometimes. Cinemax has cheesy porn, and HBO has Dennis Miller 'n Spawn....

    But I digest....

So I've been away for the weekend and it looks like I missed about TEN
'jams, time to start skimming and scanning...

I just got back from the Lilith Fair in George, Washington (yes, the name
of a real place). It was one goddess-damn awesome show, a six-hour
music-spree! Anyone on this list who lives in a city that the Lilith Fair
is visiting, check this event out, you won't be disappointed. And if you
are disappointed, it's your own fault for ignoring my horrible prophecy-
    record..

However, skimming ahead has foretold of an unmasking and a resurfacing,
both of which shall be addressed in duex time.

    > LoneWolf gets point number one! If you asked any Ytsejammer last week > how they felt about gays, you would receive a nearly unanimous vote for > "I feel they're equal with heteros."

I, for one, would not have voted that way. Mostly because I despise calling heterosexual people "heteros." Really, do we have to slander so caustically those who live a lifestyle different from our own?

    > The second a fake gay comes in, it's "Shame, shame, defaming D-Man like > that!!" Hypocrisy on the Jam? Nah, it couldn't be. Oh wait, your > honor, I present you evidence, culminating from the D-Man himself!

Please. Should I get a flat, I'll give you a call. But I might have some spray leftover from the last time.

    <wink>

    > Negative connotation toward gays, anyone?

Negative connotation to the real assassins of the world who choose to mess with people by gunning them down from a distance instead of petty insults on a internet mailing list, anyone?

Ahhhh, but you see, there I go hypocritically telling someone what their problem is, when I'm guilty of it myself. Reminds me of those close-minded hetero-bashers. Not that I use the derogatory prefix "hetero" willingly, mind you. Personally, I don't mind heterosexuals. I just wish they'd act gay in public.

You didn't catch my sarcasm of your sarcasm? Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time.. At least, not for you.

    Hi everyone,

How come when I proof-read my posts I don't find anything wrong with them, but when I read them on the jam they have grammar, and spelling abound? Well this will be my first post with no mistakes, hopefully... :)

Some guys I used to work for thought that HITNF was "too guitar heavy." I respected their opinion so much I didn't buy it until this past week. And I would have to say that it is too guitar lite! :)

SG isn't coming out till next year, I hear. Hmm, Megadeth, and Meta-- oops I can't mention that band, :) Marillion's out everywhere but in the US...Lots of bands are coming out! Among the hundreds of birthday presents I received yesterday there was a copy of 2112. Hmmm... I listened to it when it first came out and didn't like it. I listened to it again this morning and I still don't like it. Is there something wrong with me? Looks like I'll be paying a visit to the used CD shop tomorrow.

I've just been checking out the images from the Mars Pathfinder mission. Looks like a great place to send all the religious homophobes...

One question... are you gay ? If not, how do you know it's a matter of choice and not something you were born as... Have you perhaps been gay in a previous life ? Do you know people who have told you they weren't born gay, but suddenly decided to become gay ?

Here's my view on what it's like to be gay :

Feeling ashamed and/or confused when you find out you're gay... The fear of what your parents will say/do when they find out or when you tell them... Straight friends fixing you up with girls, because they think you're just shy... Having to go to gay bars to meet guys, 'cuz that's the only place you'll find them... Homophobic bastards making insulting remarks and jokes... Gay bashers waiting to kick your ass. Not being able to get married to the one you love. Not being allowed into churches, because being gay is supposedly 'against God's will'. Ignorant/uninformed comments on your favourite band's mailinglist...

Sounds cool... I think I'm going to be gay too, for a while, until I don't like it anymore... After that, I'll try to be black or a girl.

(in case you're a moron, I'm being sarcastic)

I am not gay myself, so I can only go by what I have heard, seen and read. If you're gay and want to comment on woot's "matter of choice" crap ANONYMOUSLY, email your comments to me and I'll post them here. Please use the subject "Gay thread"... You can trust me to keep your identity a secret.

    > I realize this will probably get me a few enemies, and I'm really a > nice guy, but I can't let this matter go by without me saying what I > know to be true.

You're a nice guy ? Maybe. But you're also ignorant, uninformed and probably very close-minded. I'd like to know where exactly you got the warped idea that being gay is a matter of choice, though. Maybe it's not your fault. It's probably something your parents told you, or something like that.

Let's not forget it's all about love, no matter if you are straight or gay... A relationship isn't anything less beautiful just because both people involved are of the same sex... If you can't accept the fact that gay people exist, that's your problem. Not theirs.

Oh, okay. "Heterosexual." As if it's possible for a person's sexuality to be unevenly-dispersed. "I like men romantically with 40% of the outward affection I can muster, and the other 60%, which is pure animal lust, I direct towards women." Sounds like a BI-sexual to me, but you go ahead D-Man, keep right on attaching incorrect prefixes where they don't belong. Just misclassify THOUSANDS of people, see if I care. What's worse, D-Man, fabricating nonsense words or staring Logic in the face and spitting venemously?

Keiji Nishihara has been spending too much time at the Semiconductor array:

    > Well,I happened to turn on my radio and heard new Yngwie. What I thought >is "FED UP w/ Yngwie". All he can play is what he always plays (what he >used to play). New vox (ex-Treat etc..) is the cloan of Mike Vecella

    "Vescera"

    >(s.p.??). The same style again..... And the same guitar play...... Why >should I pay extra money for the SAME thing? I have bought all his albums >so far (from Streeler days),but this new album may be my last Yngwie >album,or my first album I don't buy. Anyway, his new album will come out on >the 3rd of Sep.

This is a misunderstanding that has plagued Yngwie's career. The man himself explained it best towards the end of the Inspriations interview, when he pointed out that all the huge guitar players, or any well known artists for that matter, follow similar paths in their music.

Eric Clapton, whether you like him or not, is a living legend - yet he has been playing the same five notes (can you say "pentatonic"?) for 40 years, in the same style. You don't get many people moaning about how HE keeps doing the same thing, do you? Most established bands do it too. AC/CD, Aerosmith, Metallica, Megadeth - they all have their signature sounds.

Even cool guitarists have it. What would Satch be without those long, wah-ed legato patterns? Vai without Aeolian and his Eventide? Petrucci without his "chromazones" and distinctive neck pick-up tone? Buckethead without his diminished arpeggios, eight-fingered tapping and poultry? ;-)

Yngwie plays what he loves, like all these other guys, and continues in the style he loves, like all these other guys. And he never changes to accomodate a fad like grunge, new punk, brit (spit!) pop and so on. He plays overly dramatic songs with their overly dramatic lyrics, always with a classical influence and often with some direct classical theft. Exept for the bluesy song on the album, his solos WILL BE in harmonic minor. Because that's the most overly dramatic scale.

And I love the guy, absolutely love him. Sure, you can't listen to it all the time, but if you get in the mood and choose to spin the Seventh Sign, you know EXACTLY what you're getting.

Lastly, you have to realise, Keiji, how lucky you are that you can turn on the radio and hear Yngwie. The mainstream pop shit that all of our radio stations insist on broadcasting doesn't even come close. I can't remember the last time I heard a guitar solo on the radio that WASN'T Noel Gallagher. Plus you get to hear Namie Amuro ALL the time there!

Shit, this is never going to get found in the archive unless I... Keywords: gay, imposter, closet, infinity

Hello 'jammers! I'm kinda new at this thing, this being my first post, so please bear with me! First of all, I am fucking pissed off at how immaturely this gay thing has been handled. WHO the fuck needs everyone's oppinion on this matter? Every person has the right to for his own opinion, and trying to influence it by posting a few pages of shit to the jam can't do anything to change that, IMO. Any sane person could care less for your views on this matter, because he/she formed his/her own opinion on this and you simply can't do anything to change that. Well .. nuff said about this. Onto something else : 'Christian music'. Now this is another overestimated matter. First of all, you won't need to listen to all this Christian shit in a couple of years' time, 'coz of the decline of Christianty and stuff. Now, I don't know how things are in the US, but just consider the number of religious people nowadays and that number say ... 200 years ago. See my point ? Poeple have lost their faith in God ( which is a good thing, IMO ). Bottom line: listen to what you want. You can listen to Satanic music too , just don't get influenced by it. Fuck all the people who tell you to listen only to Christian music. Take all the bands which started as death/black metal groups, and evolved into something unique (Amorphis, Tiamat etc.).Oh yes , and DO buy Tales from 1000 lakes .It's incredible and I see alot more similarities to Elegy than the fellow jammer posting about it before me. My copy of WDADU has a 'classic ROCK' yellow sticker too , btw. It's a BMG original , so I figure all German edition BMGs have this sticker on them. Cool, eh ? DT- classic rock :) Uhm ... I dunno how to say this , but ... Brave is SUCH a bore. Hogarth together with that Helmer dude write some horrible lyrics ('Hard as love, baby...' - man , that sux!) and all the magic of the Fish years is gone, both lyrically and musically.

Oh , yeah .. just one more thing : any DT fans living near Romania on the YML ? If so , please contact me for some trades and stuff , 'coz I need the KevMo demos and some other shit really bad!
