            Well, just thought what I use as a recipe to get better:

            - Metallica's "Master of Puppets" (it *never* fails);
            - Metallica's "To Live is To Die";
            - Metallica's "The Call of Ktulu";
            - Slayer's "Dittohead" (I can't understand a word of what Tom says
    on the first 30 seconds :-) ).

            Ok. Now to something completely different: I just wanted some
    opinions about which Mike Bahr CDs (Dream Theater) have the best sound
    quality. I plan to buy some now, but I'm quite short on cash. So I thought
    that I'd buy only two or three now. I'll really appreciate any kind of
    comments concerning sound quality and contents (I have just seen his
    homepage and some of the discs have "Under a Glass Moon"; I already have
    zillions of copies of this song on other bootlegs, but I'd consider
    getting another copy if it has good sound quality and/or different
    soloes).

            So, I'd appreciate if you could (perhaps) rank the discs according
    to your preferences. If you don't want to pollute the jam, please, send an
    e-mail to <rbrito@ime.usp.br> (although I think that other jammers may be
    interested in these kind of comments).

            Thank you very much for any opinions, Roger...

    This comment actually physically hurt. I got a severe headache after reading that, and I had to get away from the computer for about ten minutes. Half The World is my favorite TFE song (though Totem is a really close second). It's no 2112 or anything (and I *do* think that guy is the only one that dislikes that song), but it's a Good Rock Song. It's sparse enough to let Ged go nuts, basswise. I thought Alex had a really nice, aggresive tone on it. Neil... is just Neil.

    But to compare Ged's voice with Spootie... OK, so it's funny as shit. It's still bad and wrong. :)

    How about To Live Forever? I hear it's got some damned good harmonies.

    OK, optical illusion time. Everyone get out your I&W cd, and look at the back of the case, where it lists the titles of the songs. Is it just me, or is "Learning To Live" in a larger font than the rest of the songs?

    I'm still ten 'jams behind, but this statement makes it obvious that Mr. Forcier hasn't actually seen "Con-Air."

    What I quoted was from the movie "Con-Air." It's said by Steve Buscemi, who plays a Hannibal Lecter-esque mass murderer/cannibal. He's the highest intellect in the movie. I couldn't help but admire him for his restraint during a certain scene, in which he chose not to mutilate a small girl in a trailer park when there were no consequences or constraints present. Such morality in a Godless environment is very rare in this day and age, as evidenced by the obvious downward spiral society is caught in.

    I don't read Roger Ebert, much like I don't read movie reviews by anyone, but if Mr. Ebert put that line in his review, he was quoting from the movie. Go see the movie. Nowhere will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Not to mention the torrential circus of explosions.

    When Adam Schott and I ran for President of the U.S. last year, our main competition for the nomination of the Brass Sabre Party (you know, the one fighting for the rights of third trumpets, and also for free sandwiches) was the Crazy-Pants/Scott Henderson ticket. Schott/Henderson vs. Crazy-Pants and Scott Henderson. The competition was fierce, lemme tell ya... Luckily, the shifty Crazy-Pants got disheartened with politiks in general and dropped out of the running. End of story.

    Does anyone have the Spastic Ink CD? Is the album as good as the sound samples on the web page?

    And while I'm asking questions, why does Savatage's "Gutter Ballet" say "Explicit Lyrics -- Parental Advisory" on the back? I can't find any, unless you'd count the word "bitch" in "Of Rage And War", or maybe the innuendos and such in "She's In Love"... I hear worse on "Friends" (along with that index-finger-to-thumb-rule, of course).

    If memory serves, which it usually does, Michael Coghlan doesn't think to highly of Conan O'Brien. So you might want to watch out when you go throwing this stuff around, okay?

    Then again, Michael Coghlan is also the guy who said the reason DT didn't play "Scarred" on the entire Awake tour was because they "couldn't." Something about "studio tricks, they don't have the skill, it'll never happen, etc." Guys, if THAT'S not enough to make you take everything he says with a grain of salt, you're in for a long argument. You're doomed to argue with him until the cows come home. And with RipZero off the list, they'll probably be roaming around the pastures a little while longer.

    I just had to respond to d man's response to that guy who condemned homosexuals. I'm sure you're going to hate me for it, but it's not my fault you people are intolerant.

    >"Don't put forth an effort to be politically correct"? No, Mike, you're >an ignorant, hateful, tasteless asshole who has no place on this list.

    I think it is plain to see who the hateful one is.

    >A lot of things would be nice, Mike. It would be nice if you were to stop >judging people based on what they do when you're not around. It would be >nice if you were to stop judging people based on biological differences >between you and them. It would be nice if you were to stop judging >people. You're merely another man, Mike. No better or worse than the >rest of us. You have no place sitting in judgment of others.

    Couple of things here. First, D-Man condemns Mike for the very thing that he himself is doing, namely, judging. What a hypocrite! He says Mike should stop judging others, but dman is the very one who calls him an asshole. Then he says mike is no worse than the rest of us, contradicting everything else he writes. Also, the science geek should get acquainted with the facts. There is no conclusive evidence that homosexuality is caused by a biological difference. Even if there were, it doesn't make it right. I mean some heterosexuals want more than than their wife,but it doesn't make a difference that it is caused by a biological mechanism. Or violence is caused by testosterone, but that doesn't make it right. People need to take responsibilities for their own actions instead of blaming it on society and genetics. >>If you were to honestly, with mild determination >>consider all the facts about homosexuality most of you would conclude that this is >>is a perversion [one of many] of humanity. Now I know some may take objection >>to this commentary, I can appreciate that, but before you flame look at this >What I take objection to is the fact that you refer to your "commentary" >as "facts." There are no facts about homosexuality that lead to this

    Mike doesn't refer to his commentary as facts, he calls it a commentary and asks people to consider the facts.

    >Is "passi" a word? I don't have my Ignorant-Redneck-to-English dictionary

    How mature, D-Man. I guess anyone doesn't agree with your point of view is an ignorant redneck who sleeps with his sister. But then again what's wrong with that? I mean what people do in their own bedroom is none of my business, right?

    >The term "gay-bashing" no longer refers only to violence. It now refers >to any hateful action against people because they're gay. For instance, >wishing that all gay people would go back into the closet and lock the >door is an example of gay bashing. Prick.

    How is wishing that gay people remain private hateful? For it to be hateful, the person doing the wishing would actually have to be filled with hate. I can wish gay people would remain private and not try to force their lifestyle on the rest of us without being hateful, can't I? I suppose if I didn't want to know who sucks dick that would be dicksucker-bashing.

    >>"fix" or change anything for the better. I can accept the [gay] person as a person, >>I just can't accept the lifestyle. >Do you know that that makes no sense? Yeah, I know, dumb question.

    Dumb question indeed, because it does make sense. For example, I can accept liars as people and deal with them on a regular basis, but I don't accept the lifestyle and wouldn't like it if they tried to promote lying. We all have our faults, as D-Man seems to indicate, but we should still be able to accept other people, even if they have different beliefs or lifestyles.

    Nuno Bettencourt has a great song on his album "Schizophonic" called "The Pursuit of Happiness." Hopeful in a melancholy sort of way, like Seal.

    Oh yeah, this is a rhythmically-heavy album for anyone wondering about Nuno's solo project. Not many flashy guitar solos, but it sounds fine to me.
