    Hey Jammers :o>

All this talk of Rush lately has prompted me to have a little contest...
sorry, if you aren't in ack mode, this isn't going to do you any good...

    http://members.wbs.net/homepages/j/e/s/jessiebannon.html

If you are the 2112th visitor to my homepage, capture the counter image
that says "visits: 2112", email it to me, and you can have your choice
of these three Rush remasters... Permanent Waves, Power Windows, or
Moving Pictures. I accidentally pre-ordered those twice, and I don't
really feel like returning them :o)

    >> upcoming concert for a local prog metal band called THE QUIET ROOM.
    >>
    >> Being a radio station DJ I know this band from their excellent demo
    >> EP. I want to highly recommend this band to the ytsejammers and
    >> shamelessly promote the concert in Denver, Azatlan Theater on July
    >> 26 ($5 at door).

I wholeheartedly agree with this recommendation. Although the EP is
only about 26 or so minutes, this band sounds really decent. Most of
the material is similar in style to DT at 70% of their peak metallicity
(I know that this just *has* to be a word) and 50% of thier musical
complexity (which is not bad at all). In other words, it rocks pretty
    well.

I plan on getting the new CD right when it becomes available and will
send along a review to the jam. I know that it will include the
original songs from the EP (with parts redone/rerecorded) along with
some new songs. I really think that this would not be a show to miss.

i love that song. it's what my senior class chose to play at our

that depends. if what everyone is telling you to write is something
you simply don't want to do, then i say don't do it. but if it's
something you wouldn't mind doing, and you're willing to compromise

About 30 jams to catch up on, so if this is old news, too bad :)

First, let's address Mr. Biggus Dickus:

    > Jeremy Hay.. oops

The only oops was that your parents didn't go through with the abortion.
Now, this is in no way represent my views on abortion or any views by

    > The Impostor That Took the Ytsejam

    Kewl!

Now go back to your room and pull on it some more. That makes two things
you spend way too much time doing :)

By the way, folks, in case you hadn't figured it out (I just noticed
D-man did a couple of posts later, but here we go anyways :), the issue
has nothing to do with being gay/straight, the issue here is one of
forgery. He could have said: "I'm D-man and I want everyone to know that
I pick my nose and eat it." He chose that particular topic knowing it
would, ONCE AGAIN, start another intractable discussion.

If you've learned nothing else, learn to ignore. It's all part of
self-control. Or at most, joke about it :) It deserves nothing more. By
acknowledging it, it allows his cock to grow to it's full, enormous
size, and thus re-enforces what he's been attempting to prove to
    everyone all along!

Come on back soon, putz. This was fun :)

    You're reaching again, Chris...

Gee, currently only 27 jams to go to catch up.... I wonder what else I
may find along the way. More material, perhaps? :)

Just thought I'd pitch in to what could wind up being a really great thread. These are my Cds as I'd rank them myself. Now remember, to get to the top of this list and _stay_ there means it had better be pretty darned good, because in the process of making them, I've heard all of these _hundreds_ of times. :)

    1. King's X - Acoustic Spirits. When it comes out, you'll all know why. 2. DT - Precious Things. The sound just really made me happy on this one. 3. DT - Acoustic Dreams. Another big one for sound plus content. 4. Rush - Virtual Songs. It's like AM/PM: "Too much good stuff!" 5. DT - The Darkest of Winters. It really seemed to capture the flavor of those Holidays shows, and had some nice rarities on it. 6. Rush - Critical Mass. Again, sound quality. Content is good too. 7. DT - When Dream And Today Unite. It fulfills a wish of many DT fans: to have a CD of WDADU with James singing. 8. Tori Amos - Inside The Storm. I was happy with the sound and very happy with the content, but the manufacturing of this one was a nightmare, including the seizure of the print run by 3M. 9. DT - Antiquities. Not because it lacked for good material, but because a lot of the stuff on it is demos, and thus raw sound quality. The version of TTT on this is possibly the best I've heard. 10. DT - Scenes From a Memory. See Antiquities. 11. Queensryche - Nonexistent. I only put this and the Megadeth CD so low because there's a slight technical glitch on them that I never could figure out the cause of. It has not affected any of my other CDs before or since. And I'm a perfectionist, so it bothers me. 11. (Tie) Megadeth - Razing Arizona. See above. I mean, both of these shows were satellite soundboard, so the content and sound quality is there. It's that damned mystery glitch. You could listen to the entire CD and not notice it... or to one song and never miss it!:) 13. DT - Subconscious. I really didn't know what I was doing yet when I made this. It's a miracle it came out as well as it did. Overall I suppose it's not too bad, but it's not much of a fun listen if you've heard the demos already, and some of the stuff on it has since been released. It DID help ACOS get released..a plus. 14. Metallica - The Wrath of God. I still enjoy listening to this from time to time, but the release was a nightmare, still backlashing from the Tori problem. And Metallica fans are way too impatient compared to you Jammers. The sound wasn't really all that bad. 15. Rush - Cygnus. The most critically slaughtered of all my CDs, with the worst packaging of all my CDs, not even numbered, with content that I only found out afterward I could have improved... argh. The only reason you'd want this now is to have soundboard ver- sions of the cygnus saga, AFTK, and Circ, without having to fork out $45-60 for the 2-disc version another boot company put out.

And hey hey hey, that's DT content up there. :)

Someone asked what religion I was... I won't get into the religious debate though, because there's no need to. I was raised a Roman Catholic, but I don't really do much with it anymore other than go to Church. No missionary crusaders here in Gilbert, folks. :) It's a minor miracle that I'm not Mormon like 90% (it seems) of the other people in the east valley of the Phoenix metro area. All my long-time local friends are, and just about everyone I went to school with, was. Fascinating.

As for persecution sliding off my back... grin. That's an Arizona thing, not a Mike thing. I began to notice it in my dealings with my wife's side of the family. They're all from Chicago, and the general mindset there is very aggressive, pro-active, and frequently high-stress as a result. Only after interacting with those types did I realize just how much everyday annoyance I usually blew off and didn't let bother me. Virtually everything that happened had them aggravated, irritated, griping, or otherwise upset. At one point they asked me if I was just some sort of druggie, because they'd never interacted with someone who just sat peacefully through what they viewed as genuine honest-to-goodness problems and/or crises. So the mirror goes both ways... I see them as oversensitive heart-attacks-waiting-to-happen, and they see me as inattentive and substandard-at-socialization. It's amazing how perceptions change depending on whose point of view one takes. I wonder how this affects the members of DT. They're from New York, and in New York, if someone is overly friendly to you, you RUN (don't walk) in the other direction. So they may be genuinely unprepared for how friendly and chummy a lot of the fans can be toward them, backstage and such. And that's where the misunderstandings arise. I remember James saying once in an interview that he really just needed his space, and that he didn't mean to be cranky toward the fans. (This was back in 1994-5 or so, and he's rather good at the schmoozing thing now, so I guess he solved the problem).

I agree that PeW and MP are similar, and that S and p/g are similar. But I still say that, groove-wise, song-type-wise, and not necessarily compositionally or keyboard-wise, S is much more like MP than it is like g/p.

There's also one that I saw once and haven't found since that had the "Chinese menu" system of picking bands in a CGI program. You know what I mean. Take a word from column 1, a word from column 2, and a word from column 3, and get "Ultra Alterna Razors" or something. Countless hours of entertainment. :)

    Someday, I'll get four. :)

If you would like to start a discussion about the music (or lack of) by Marilyn Manson, maybe you should try asking something like, "What do you think of Marilyn Manson?" beause the posting stuff in all caps with just the lyrics is getting annoying.
