Fun Fact Of The Day: Drumming along to the entirety of Awake is good
fun, unless you're me..because I have to turn up the earphones super loud so
I can hear the music over my drums, and because i sometimes unknowingly
clench my teeth while I'm playing, so now my ears are ringing and my jaw
hurts. But, while i was playing, it was a jolly time. :) Also, I'm really
sweaty now, so I'm gonna hit the shower. Buhbye!

Goliath? For the life of me I can't remember if the WWF ever had a
wrestler with that name. Would've been good, though...

    > "A to the mofukkin' C to the mofukkin' E to the mofukkin' A again,

That would be the chorus. Say it about ten times as fast as possible,
WHILE shredding a C-augmented arpeggio. Get the fretboard right in the
camera, start knocking people down with the headstock WHILE flailing
    away...

    > Bafu is unfortunate in his lack of required shred listening. Let's not
    > rub it in... he might cry. :)

At this point it should be noted that Chris Ptacek has 8,492 albums of
guitar music, a collection encompassing flamenco, shred, classical, and a
few guys from that teeny tiny galaxy on Orion's collar. I think the line
was, "Jesus Christ, Bafu, you've got Tony Fredianelli and Joe Stump but
    not Jason Becker?!?!" :)

Whew. I was wondering about that. I'm glad that they really didn't put
much effort into it, because it certainly shows. I was just talking to a
friend who also loves Queensryche, and she and I agree that if the 'ryche

Yes, but this is just random people's opinions, and these people might not
know good technical singing from bad. No offense, but it's true. Even on
his BEST nights on the PL tour Geoff sounded passable at best, and
definitely strained. Being a singer, I can hear the effect of smoking on
a voice as opposed to merely the effects of time on a voice, and I
maintain that if Geoff quit smoking he would sound MARKEDLY better.

Did anyone hear the San Jose show on the PL tour? UGH!

And, the great thing about a DT live album is that they will have to fix
up the vocals anyway, so it we be almost as if James went into the studio
to rerecord the whole album! :P

Well, I have WDATU (it is my only Mike Bahr CD) and I don't really
think it is a good CD soundwise. Maybe I'm an audiophile, but I simply
can't understand why people are satisfied with its sound quality.

This is not meant as a flame to Mike Bahr. Sure, he has done a
great job. He has even put on the sleeve some of the things there were not
soundboard and had a lot of problems (hiss/lack of higher frequencies). He
    has done a great job.

*BUT* this *doesn't* exclude the possibility of the band doing a
great professional/with the assistance of Elektra of a new WDADU Live.

And this would not decrease the value of Mike Bahr bootlegs, since
as he had said earlier, these performances are unique and not to be found
    on any other Bootleg CDs.

            Ok.

I've got the first three albums....one from Best Buy, the others from a used CD store in California (Rasputin's). They're all awesome. I'd have to say Songs For Insects is my least favorite..but I like 'em all. The band is the definition of insanity. And even though maybe they did change their sound to open up to the masses more on Outer Space...it's still far from tame. I've been looking for Black Umbrella everywhere, so anyone who has it..where did you find it?! Anywho, just glad to see somebody else has heard of them. Adios!

Hey Jammers, Just thought I'd let ya know that WMMS, Cleveland's real rock station, has managed to get Queensryche to do an invitation-only small club show at the Odeon in the Flats. They're playing a "Coffeebreak Concert" on 7/21/97 at Noon. I was fortunate enough to win tix last week and I'm ecstatic about going!! Any other Cleveland Jammers out there who share in my good fortune? I believe WMMS plans to broadcast the show too. Should be a cool deal...

    Hey all,

I'm saddened to say that a chapter of my life constituting the last year = and half has come to an end...that is to say, i've decided to unsubscribe from = the 'Jam.

I've met a lot of great people and learned more than i'd ever imagined = possible about my favorite band and a genre of music that i previously didn't = even know existed, but with the sheer volume of material i've been = receiving recently, i'm just not able to keep up with it. At best, i've read 5% of the last 500 = 'Jams, and i know i've missed a lot of relevant information in the process.

I'd like to thank Skadz for all the hard work he's put in. I can't = imagine how much effort you've put in, but i just wanted to let you know that it was appreciated.

To Mike Bahr, thanks for bringing those of us who haven't had the = opportunity to see them live, the chance to hear the DT that their record company = doesn't want us to hear. Contrary to the company's shallow, short term, = bottom-line point of view, i will not buy fewer DT albums thanks to Mike, i will buy = more. By the way, Mike, where's my Precious Things CD? :-)

To Mape, the Finnish Jammer extroaordinairre, thanks for introducing me = to such great material as Superior, Angra, Symphony X, and Zowie :-) If = you'd like to rekindle our trading, Mape, drop me a line.

I wish i could personally thank everyone who's made reading the 'Jam fun = and informative, but you know who you are, so give yourselves a pat on the = back from me. =20

    I wish i could've read more 'Jams, i wish i could've posted more, but = mostly, i wish the 'Jam wouldn't have become a haven for flaming, back-stabbing, =

useless posts with nothing pertaining to DT, prog, or music at all.

I welcome e-mails from any DT fans who want to chat, especially those = from Western PA. And i can now be found subscribing to the new Voices mailing list, which i hope will become what the 'Jam promised to be when i = received my first 'Jam, #1574.

    With regrets, Tim Caudill

Well guys, I agree with you 100% on this, but DT doesn't want to do it. The next best thing would be to get When Dream and Today Unite, a Mike Bahr print. It's every WDADU song done live with KJLB on vocals! I do believe he has a few copies left for sale. This is probably your only oportunity to have WDADU with James singing.....

Quite honestly, I enjoy the "vintage" aspect of this album. I don't, on the other hand (the killing hand : ) think that the album has good sound quality. It needs a lot of help. Was this album recorded in a shitty studio? Was it recorded analog? It could use a "sprucing" up, but don't have KJL redo the vocals.. Yes Dominicci sucks, but he was part of the band back then. I really think that Images needs this too, not that the Vocals or the guitar, bass or keyboards need it, but the Drums certainly do! I can't stand the "artifical" sound that the drums have! DON'T EVER TRIGGER A SNARE DRUM!! It sounds like shit! What was David Prater thinking??? I would like to go off about this a little, because every time I listen to this album I get pissed off because I know it could be just a little bit better if David hadn't triggered that snare! A snare drum is an intricate part of a drum set. It allows you to accent notes. A bass drum doesn't need to have accent notes, most "harder edged" bands trigger the bass drum, it actually sounds good because uneven hits on the bass drum sound like shit when recorded.. Back to the album, I would LOVE to see this taken up to Maine (Bob Ludwig) and see what he can do with it. Images was recorded digitally right? Shouldn't be too hard! : ) Just my .02 Later, J

They'll be running for the Best Brazillian video award.

It takes 2 seconds to vote, just select Angra "Make Believe", which is the first on the list, then scroll down and click "enviar" to send. It would be cool to actually see ANGRA win an award, maybe they'll perform a live song also on TV, now that would be a breakthrough for prog metal.

Good call, Mark. one of my favorite parodies I heard was from eons ago by someone I can't even remember . Anyway, the parody was for Surrounded and was called Puh'pounded. I've printed myself a copy but it inevitably got lost. Anyone got this hummer cached around anywhere? I'd love to see it again.

I hired this one guy named John Draper to to put my web site togeter, make some changes to the logo, host, etc. well, I paid him for 3 hours in advance thus $150. So he made changes to the logo and such and then I had people beta test the of course and they came back with changes that needed to be made. Now, before the site was developed the first time and I was allowed to view it and beta test it, I got a bill from him that stated that he did an additional nine hors of work and it came out to be $270. Well before I was going to pay for it, I wanted it presentable, up to specs, something that didn't look like an amature had done it. I wanted it presentable to the business world online.

So anyway, without being long and drawn out, he has been asking and now harassing me about this payment, giving me guilt trips that I am the only customer, that his busines depends on it, that hes getting disconnected, etc. But the thing is, the changes that my beta testers sent to me and the suggestions I made as far as error corrections and so on, weren't executed. Only partially. And even then, the site still looked bad due to gramatical errors, formatting problems, bad links or non existant links, etc.

Now as a business man myself who cares very much about my customers, I make every effort to get the job done right according to the customers specifications without delay, right the first time, and efficiantly. If the tak I'm not contracted to do is not done in that manner, the customer doesn't have to pay unless they are satisfied.

So to this deate, he has not been paid the requested amount. My wife, who helps in handling the administarative aspects of the business has told him that we are not satisfied and we want the job done right. I've been enven been advised to look for a new web master and a new web hosting company that doesn't do this to other customers.

On one hand, I feel bad that he's going through this and that maybe I ought to pay him. But on the other hand, I think that he is the one who set himself up for the fall. He did not do good honest fulfilling business and he didn't plan ahaed. Also because he didnt do the job right, he didn't do the job right and over priced it, I wonder if I should say the heck with him.

I don't know. What do you think?
