    Greetings

    Some thoughts:

    I'm a big Queensryche fan. I like HitNF. I wouldn't say I love it, I
would in fact say that it is their weakest album to date, which, when you
consider what it's up against, isn't saying much.

    Do I hate it? No.

Do I resent Queensryche for the calibre of the album? No.

But even though I think it's their weakest album, I still think it's great.
And I like 'Get A Life'. I'll be buying their next album, and all of
    their albums after that.

I don't think of HitNF as a grunge album. I consider it to be a great rock
album. I've never considered Queensryche to be progressive, so I couldn't
care less if they 'regressed' or not. As long as it's pleasing to the ear,
    I'm happy.

As I've said before, I probably wouldn't be able to spot progressive music
    anyway.

It is their band - they can play whatever music they want to. If they
become a bluegrass band, then that's fine by me. If it sounds great, I'll
    buy it.

Well, now it's two non-Queensryche mailing lists that I'm on that are
talking about QR a great deal - this and the Savatage list (which doesn't
have a name yet, to my knowledge, although there is a poll for one - which
I suggested in the first place, although everyone seems to have forgotten
    that... hey, I'm not bitter :) ).

Just my thoughts on the whole dang discussion...
    ***
About the number of DT albums and all that:

I have 6 official DT releases (WDADU, I&W, LatM, A, The Silent Man single,
    ACoS).

I have 2 non-Bahr bootlegs (Lords of Sound, Mind Control).

I have no Mike Bahr bootlegs, although I'd love to have some - money orders
    are just too damned expensive...

Oh, I also have the Live in Tokyo vid. So far, I haven't heard James
pronounce 'Forever' correctly once when introducing 'To Live Forever'...
(shut up about the harmonies already, D-Man:))
    ***
    About Derek...

The only material I've heard him on apart from ACoS is the Mind Control
boot, and I think he's great, especially all of the jazzy stuff. Amazing.

Oh, he's on Alive III by KISS, but I haven't listened for him on that one...

    Well, that's all. Ciao...

    Love, Spiff

man..what kind of cd players you guys have?? ..the bass is clear in
awake...maybe the parts when its harder to identify are in CiAW,mirror
and lie,but for the rest of the album its easy to spot, and its very
clearly there...as for I&W, its a little harder..but its still there and
you can hear it clearly...ACos is really bass heavy, with the contrast
    of mike's drum..

Stop listening to the Working Man version, put in the Permanent Waves version, give it a *good* listen, and if you still feel the same way, then you and I are two *completely* different types of music listeners.

    >>Love it. Love them all. Just bought a new live one called Dust in the Wind from the EMI-Capital Live Series for $5.99. Steve's voice is bad, but the band jams.

Also got the tribute cassette. While the bands play all the notes, there is just no feeling to the songs whatsover. ------------------------ Hey, I'm a big Kansas fan, too, but I haven't heard of *either* of these recordings. What is the tribute album called, and where can I find it? I thought that Kansas was probably next-up in the Magna Carta tribute series.

Also, the latest (I think) Kerry Livgren solo effort "When Things Get Electric" is great. It reminds me of "Seeds of Change", minus Dio and Steve Walsh on vox.

Whoa. That really sounds like spam, doesn't it? Anyway, I created this site a few days ago, and it seems to be working pretty well so far. I know lots of musicians all over the country that want to find players to form a cool prog band with, but it's really hard to find them! Hopefully this will help.

Actually, I would consider Alice In Chains to be grunge, albeit harder-edged grunge.

    How about Kenny G? :-)

WOO-HOO! Hear, hear! Hell, if you ask me, the stuff they did on The Warning and Rage for Order is even more original that HitNF!

    And a lot more exciting!

Yeah, I'll have to agree on this point. I still respect everything from EP to PL greatly, even after enduring HitNF.

Fortunately, I hear they don't do too much of that stuff on the show. :-)

But I also hear they do _nothing_ from Rage. :-(

I've heard this argument from Metallica fans, Queensryche fans, and even Megadeth fans back when CtE was considered a sell-out. Look at the numbers here. Conveniently, these bands just happened to have a sudden affection for what happened to be popular at the time. Hmmm, I wonder why Metallica and Queensryche didn't decide they liked to go a route more like death metal, or a prog rock route, or big band jazz, or acid rock, or whatever fuckin else they could have "evolved" into. I'm sick of everybody telling me these bands are just evolving when all they ever do is "evolve" into what is currently popular! How convenient for album sales! This is why Hero of the Day sounds like the Smashing Pumpkins and Sign of the Times is right out of Everclear's latest album. Flame away.

    > >I find it strange that many of the disgruntled Queensryche fans who have > >replied to my post have used the word "force." Who said anything about > >forcing anyone to listen to anything? The choice is completely yours.

Yeah, but according to you we're not "fans" of the band if we don't like the latest album. I like to consider myself a Queensryche fan but I don't like the latest album, so I guess I'm not. I better start listening to HitNF if I want to consider myself a fan. Oh, and I do plan on going to the Queensryche show in the near future, will I be a fan if I go there?

The NEW Galactic Cowboys album is out today!!! Metal Blade Records

"The Horse That Bud Bought"...along the lines of Machine Fish- musically...yet more harmonized vocals present.

If you get it soon, post your reviews of it...I've had it for over a month, but I'm curious as to what people's initial reactions to it are...

If I was in a prog band like DT, I would have such a large ego it would make you sick. Lots of "bands today" are still shooting for that Kurt Cobain "I'm miserable" attitude. Remember in the eighties, those Iron Maiden concerts? Have you seen the stage setups?! It takes pride in your own band to put on a good show, not to come out on stage and wimper. I'd much rather see a band have a god complex and put out better writing and performance (not that this guarantees this, before you jump all over me) than a band that says things like, "Well, our goal was never about being famous." If you don't want fame, don't sign any contracts. And for the sake of the gods of war, all you Marylin Manson/NIN/black hair/black fingernails/I hate school losers, - cheer up!- . Sometimes a little ego does well.

it's good because KX will be able to put out albums when they want to. look at GC, they've had 2 albums and an EP in a year and a half. and they've got about 10 more songs in the wings...

as for touring, i hope this wouldn't happen. i kinda want to see GC out with someone else...nothing against KX or MBR acts, but it's not helping business when a notwellknown act goes out with a band on tour whose fans already like you. your fanbase is the same...

and the difference between this and atlantic is...? ;) actualy, maybe KX will help get some money flowing in MBR...

    Yo maggots,

I went to the Rudess/Morgenstein clinic/show at Berklee yesterday and these guys rock some serious nads. To be more descriptive, they totally kick ass. This got me thinking...wasn't Jordan Rudess the guy who filled in for DT at the very beginning of the Awake tour before they found Derek?? If so, why the fuck didn't they keep him?!?! This guy is nuts! Also, he does it all on one keyboard, not 3 or 4 like all those other wankers use. I can't explain his virtuosity, just buy the cd and you'll hear a performance that is about 1/10th as good as it is in concert. No offense to Derek, but I just can't begin to imagine how good and progressive DT would be with Joran Rudess in the band. Oh and Rod Morgenstein rules too, and he plays on a kit about 1/3 of the size of MP's. Now that I've heard him I'll never think about Winger in the same way again. Sabian sponsered the show and they were giving out catalogs at the entrance. I picked one up (even though I don't play drums) and noticed that it had an artists section with MP. They showed the symbol setups and MP has 20! It's crazy, he even has this big sheet of metal thing behind him that I guess he just whacks once and a while for his own pleasure. Well that's enough DTC for today, I don't want to spoil you people.

On a side note since Al Balkiewicz is looking to get the DOE cds for 60$. I would advise against anyone from making any transactions with Al. He is much too busy buying cds and traveling around and doing whatever people like him do to follow through on any deals he makes. And for the record I've been waiting over 3 years for him to follow through. There is no need to clutter the jam or my mailbox with messages saying give it a rest since I wont write again about mr ripoff unless there is a need.

Anyone have a current setlist for the QR tour?
