Totally agree. Besides being an awesome game, it's got a smokin' them song.
Crunching riff s and some pretty good solos.

Napalm Death is playing soon, not long after Meagdeth :). Oh yeah,
and Ratt is playing St. Louis soon as well :).

What actually happened is that, during the day of that photo shoot, Mike
and his drum tech, Ho, were trying to rescue a kid trapped in a beach.
(He was eventually rescued, but not before someone snapped a photo of
him.) Anyway, Mike was using his right arm to lift, and Ho his left.
Hence, Mike's right arm (as well as Ho's left, not pictured) got super
huge, because the kid was buried up to the knees. I hear they needed a
    crane to get him out.

(Oh, and check the cover of ACoS to see the aforementioned photograph.)

Yeah, it would be more correct to say "They're two modes of the same scale," but who really wants to sound like that much of a theory geek? :)

Yes, it was written around the time of Images and Words. I don't know why they didn't record it till the Awake sessions. And, yes, the harmonies *are* incredible.

The name I wanted to use if I were ever in a DT tribute band would have been "The Crimson Sunset." Go ahead and use it, but I got dibs if anyone starts up a fantasy baseball league next season.

    > How about the Baltimore Bafus? :~)

The implication that there would actually be more than one, I think, would scare the shit out of the fans. But imagine the giveaway days. :)

BTW, I just got back from my first minor-league baseball game ever, and I'm proud to report that the Pittsfield Mets beat the Vermont Expos 1-0 in a 3-hit game. Minor league baseball rules. $5 for a ticket right behind the plate, $1.50 for hot dogs, and -- get this -- 25 cents for a scorecard. And it's real professional baseball. Vermont's single-A team (before they were an Expos franchise, they were a Reds club) saw the likes of Paul O'Neill and Barry Larkin not long ago. I might have just watched a future Rookie of the Year play, or an MVP, or a Cy Young winner, or something. If you love baseball, get out there and see one of these games if you can.

Heh, ya know what's great 'bout progressive metal?

Ya can play it with yer computer games (like Quake 'n Warcraft II) and they don't repeat until every 10-20 minutes. :D I tried playin' 'Deth's new one with Quake, and although it's awesome thrash for most of the levels, the songs are TOO damn short 'n repeat over 'n over 'till yer sick of the friggin' song 'n juss want to quit to play solitaire. I have yet to try out my newly aquired Space in yer Face CD...but my fave Quake disc remains a toss up between ...And Justice for All and Awake. (Blowin' shit up to the sound of Silent Man is FUN!!!)

Yeah, I've noticed some of Nintendo's video game soundtracks to be pretty impressive. I think the one that stands out in my mind TO THIS DAY is The Secret of Mana. Shit, I plugged in that cartridge 'n within a minute I had another favorite game. Super Castlevania IV is another hot one...those songs kicked ass. I remember makin' a recording on tape for those long road trips between San Pedro 'n Phoenix with that soundtrack. And of course, the Final Fantasy series on the Super Nintendo platform were in a league of thier own. >;)

I'd still take my computer over any Nintendo, even the 64 bit one. I've played that, 'n it has some killer sound capabilities, but I'm not sure if it has quite the digital (voice) capabilities to match the background music. I rented the Star Wars cart 'n about all of the conversation was in text. :P If you want a REAL soundtrack to a game, go out and purchase Tie Fighter vs. X-Wing. IMPRESSIVE stuff. It hasn't been taken out of my 'puter drive all week long.

    But I digest...

Motley Crue 'n Live were on the Leno 'n Letterman shows (respectively) tonight. Does anybody have the dates for Megadeth making any such appearances? I know, this is a DT list....I was kicked off the Deth list a while back for being a friend of Vince's. :P So I'd appreciate any insight on that.

Dontcha worry, I'll bring more DTC next time kiddies!

So was talking to a buddy of mine on the phone, to whom I had once given a mix of DT to see if he liked it, but most importantly to let him hear Space-Dye Vest, because once he used to joke that he had fallen in love with a chic on Seventeen magazine.

But he never commented on it, so I imagined he wasn't really impressed.

So today we're talking about the U.S. in general, (since he's studying there, and I'm planning to as well) and the conversation eventually drifted into how Miami is actually hotter than Panama. And I blurted out "Yeah, it's a dry heat"

At that very moment, I really could not rememebr from where I got that, but we both started laughing, and to my surprise he said:

    "Dream Theater, right?"

    "Uh, yeah!"

And then he started mimicking the "but *I* love you" sample (in a very funny english accent)

Just nice to know he liked it enough to remember the samples:)

I finally got off my duff and called the Trocadero today. To those of you even lazier than I, tix for the Fates Warning show (I forget who they said the opener was - something with a C?) will go on sale "Monday or Tuesday" of next week. The girl I spoke to didn't seem to have the full clue, but at least she had a fraction of one. Also, if anyone's interested, two nights prior to the Fateshow Powerman 5000's playing with Coal Chamber ("People, people!!"). I don't care for either of those bands, but, hey, "humanitarian" is my middle name...

Paradise Lost "Draconian Times", one of the discs I bought at the used CD store for a mere $6, is, upon fifth or so listen, an excellent album. I heard mention that their new one is *better*? Hrmmmm...makes one think...

    >In an earlier post someone wrote at the bottom of their post.... >"I don't make monkeys, I just train them!" -- P.W. Herman > >I think that it should have been: > >"I don't make monkeys, I spank them" P.W. Herman

Might be if I were talking about Pee-Wee. But that quote I attributed to Paul Wallace Herman, you know, the guy who played the youngest Tanner, Bryan, on TV's "ALF", and who can currently be seen playing industrial-marimbas for Marilyn Manson? That one. (And what a lil' cutey!)

Hello everyone! The list of people that want to take part in the tape swap is growing, but more people are needed to make this a success. It won't be getting underway for a few more weeks, at least, but some more participants will definitely make this swap even better for everyone involved.

Newer 'jammers: This is a good chance for you to hear some of the artists you see discussed on the list whose albums aren't readily available at K-Mart. The only cost to you will be that of 3 blank tapes and postage, and in exchange you will get 3 tapes full of new music.

http://www.auburn.net/~swifty/tapeswap.html contains more info about the details of the swap. So check it out!

To everyone that has emailed me so far, thank you for your interest. To anyone else that is interested, email me! You'll be glad you did in a few months when you get your tapes.

Take it easy, everyone, Mark Peters swifty@auburn.net

    Hey Jammers,

    A long-haired has fallen.......

I mowed off my wonderful long hair today (sniff). After 4 years it was time for a change I guess. Not to mention that its a pain in the ass to maintain, isn't too comfortable in 95 degree, 2000% humidity in NYC, and that the hair on my forehead was so weak from being pulled back in a ponytail all the time that I didn't wanna go bald by my 23rd birthday. Now I feel totally dorked out........Oh well..at least the shock value of someone asking me what kind of bands I listen to and I respond with DISSECTION, HELSTAR, FATES WARNING, IN FLAMES, etc...and to see the look on their face will be well worth it! What I'm REALLY gonna miss about it is that its just not the same when you're headbangin' away at a great concert..especially a small club show. Belting out those high notes in the mirror after I take a shower just won't be the same. Its also great when you're drunk at parties and all the girls like your hair better than theirs :-)

Sorry if this has absolutley NDTC...but i just felt like telling someone besides Bafanculo ("Protectobots...form.....SODOMIZER!!) and Chris "Balkewiez" Ptacek (hehe) on #ytsejam IRC the other night.

    Hello Jammers!

To me,one of the best albums of the nineties is W.A.S.P.:The Crimson Idol.If you can find it in your local record store, buy it!You wonīt be disappointed. The singer (Blackie Lawless)wrote all the songs, and played the keyboards and rhythm, lead and bass guitars for this album. Only the drums were played by Frankie Banali.Everytime I listen to this album,it gives me goosebumps. To me,thatīs a sign of a good album. Also, the singer has the most powerful voice I have ever heard. This album is a theme album.Itīs about a young guy who gets fucked up by the music business and whose parents beat him up when he was a kid. -Vilzu-

I know it's easier to flame away than ignore it, and let it pass. Behind this fake address I will spam Skadz will surely kick my butt If I keep posting NDTC smut.

AOLers are shaking Auto list kicking out dumb posters With the fright of memories Of Pat and Al's tape trades.

By a monitor lay a keyboard Of your bands and songs you posted I was gonna write about those hot Spice Girls.

And reading through the digest, We have these rules that none will ever heed. And from George Farber we can read, "FUCK YOU ALL! DIE!!!"

It's been a long long time, They've had a while to record now. In this year we've only seen the change

Queensryche to Grungeryche Metallica to Alternica Fates Warning to Kevin's Fate GC to Nirvana

Prog rock must be more than this What happened to thier Tri-Axis? Fender strats don't have the tone And Bush will always make me moan! I turn up my stereo The bass is slowly fading from the mix! And from George Farber, the local ytse-prick, "FUCK YOU! I WILL KILL YOU!!!"

Once lost but now I laugh When I read through the last batch of Bafu's posts I laughed my ass right out of my seat! I think I loved that Space Dye Vest parody most My box is full of ytsejams, I wanted to finish before I burned my yams!

I know it's easier, to say you're gay than being American. And Lars' posts insult both you and me

And now three more jams are in my box, Tonight I'll just keep reading them, Listening to Mike Bahr's CD's.
