This is a really cool prog discussion page that has just started
publishing interviews. The first was with Stratovarius, and the current
one is with Bernd's band, Superior. There's a good chance you will like
this band, since you're on this list. I recommend the interview, as well
    - Bernd's a cool guy, and gives some neat background for fans of the
    band.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. It would be kind of cool to
have faces to go with the names, but, by the same token, it might lead
to some unpleasantness. Yeah, I know, nothing like that would ever
    happen here...

..Okay, now that I've finished laughing hysterically, what the hell,
I'll do it! Not like anybody out there wants to see my face...

more strong characters then all of this Summer's movies combined!

Well, as a matter of fact, he does, but any more discussion on that
subject will get Skadz to kick me off the list...

Why is it that every time I'm writing a post a new digest comes in?

Any of you 'jam types going to see Fish Sunday night at the Bayou in DC?
I'll be there, either in a Screaming In Digital T - Shirt or one of the
    spiffy new Division shirts...

We also get Marillion at the Birchmere in September. Why they're playing
there instead of Jaxx I don't know, since the Birchmere only holds about
    300...

    But I'll be there!

What ever happened to Exhibit A - Alex Skolnick's "other" band? I saw Alex on
Savatage's Handful of Rain tour and where he also played as the opening band.

    Attention Local jammanoidles/jammanoidlettes:

    Kentucky ROCKS!

New band from Kentucky called Days of the New have a song out called
Touch, Peel and Stand out on AAF. 15 year old guitarist!! Singer sounds
like the dude from STP. Pretty much straight ahead rock with a down-home
guitar thing happening. Well, I heard today that they're gonna be at
Newbury Comics in Shrewsbury on Saturday at 4PM.

I'm there. Anyone else? Lemme know. The YtseTruck has vacancies as of
    this writing :)

E-mail is fine. Wouldn't want to clutter the jam up :)

    K, Bye

to the Boston show going on in Columbia, MD next week. JUst wondering if
it is the same as it was 2 years ago. ie both singers and same songs?

August 8-Fates Warning, Divine Regale, Division, and possibly another...

Continuing the long awaited (at least for me) drummer thread, I will
mention Buddy Rich. I had a little experience with that man, too, but it
wasn't as cool as the other (still looking for the name, I'd recognize it
if somebody mentioned it.). Last year, I was in the U of Minnesota
Drumline, and we were making a trip out to Northwestern to watch our
beloved Gophers get preyed upon by the Wildcats. The drumline bus was
loud with sick songs and the like (suck on a stiff cock ......... tail
with me), when somebody put in a tape of some Buddy Rich tribute show that
was on TV some time back. Man, that fucker had some chops!! That had to
be the fastest playing with the highest stick heights that will ever
happen. The bus was quiet for the duration of that tape. That man was a
    god.

    Hey all.

    Al said,
Anyone hear of Dave Weckl (gee, that's a stupid question)

The drummer for Half Naked (whoohoo!) talks about him all
the time, so I assume he kicks.........

Yah. Weckl's good, but I think he tries too hard. If he'd just stop
thinking, "GOD, I can make this better than ANYTHING ELSE," then he'd
achieve his goals. Mind you, I'm not saying that the man sucks; far from
it. He's definitely a musician's musician; I just think he should sit
    back and have a beer. : )

Ya know, if this one doesn't get me in trouble, nothing will...

    >Neapolitan Minor: 1 b2 b3 4 5 b6 7 8
    >Neapolitan Major: 1 b2 b3 4 5 6 7 8
Both of these come in Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry. The only
difference is the size of the player...

    >Oriental: 1 b2 3 4 b5 6 b7 8

This one comes with a three year, 36,000 mile warranty on the flats, and
one year, 12,000 miles on everything else...

    >Double Harmonic: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 7 8

This scale come in a sugar cone, with free sprinkles!

    >Enigmatic: 1 b2 3 #4 #5 #6 7 8

Actually, that's just what the scale *wants* you to think...

    >Hirajoshi: 1 2 b3 5 b6 8

This scale went on to pitch for the New York Yankees, which caused a few
    bum notes in the clubhouse...

    >Hungarian Minor: 1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7 8
    >Hungarian Major: 1 #2 3 #4 5 6 b7 8

The difference between these two is simple - One lands you in jail, the
    other one puts you there!

    >Kumoi: 1 b2 4 5 b6 8
    >Iwato: 1 b2 4 b6 b7 8

These two scales are very popular for their magna special editions...

    >Hindu: 1 2 3 4 5 b6 b7 8

Rip (where are you now) would sympathize with this scales feelings of
    reverence towards the bovine...

    >Spanish 8 Tone: 1 b2 b3 3 4 b5 b6 b7 8

Unfortunately, this one is always with the Spanish 10 volume... usually
    in a Toyota.

    >Pelog: 1 b2 b3 5 b7 8

    All kids love Pelog...

    >Hungarian Gypsy: 1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 b7 8

Usually played by dark - eyed women that break your heart and borrow
    your wallet..

    >Major Phrygian: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 b7 8

This scale would be useful in the DC area right now...

    >Major Locrian: 1 2 3 4 b5 b6 b7 8

I think my uncle served with this scale in 'Nam...

    >Lydian Minor: 1 2 3 #4 5 b6 b7 8

Man, these will get you the death penalty - or at least two minutes for
    holding!

    >Overtone: 1 2 3 #4 5 6 b7 8

    My, that's pretty ominous!

    >Leading Whole Tone: 1 2 3 #4 #5 #6 7 8

Fortunately, judges usually rule entrapment in these cases...

    >Arabian: 1 2 3 4 b5 b6 b7 8

    Larry loves this one!

    >Balinese: 1 b2 b3 5 b6 8

    Also called "the Cat Scale"...

    >Gypsy: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 7 8

Would that be of the Orphan variety? I can never tell (A real reach for
    you Fates fans...)

    >Mohammedan: 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7 8

If you can't come to the scale...

    >Javanese: 1 b2 b3 4 5 6 b7 8

Highly touted, but likely will not live up to it's billing...

    >Persian: 1 b2 3 4 b5 b6 7 8

Originally Greek, but conquered by Alexander.

    >Algerian: 1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7 8 2 b3 4

Know for it's Hissing overtones... (sorry, I couldn't come up with
    anything better)

    >Byzantine: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 7 8

I just don't understand this one...

    >Hawaiian: 1 2 b3 (4 grace note) 5 6 7 8

Properly played, will make the listener feel like they've had one too
    many Mai Tais...

    >Jewish: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 b7 8

(I'd offend way to many people with this one)

    >Mongolian: 1 2 3 5 6 8

Makes your eyes feel like they are getting further apart...

    >Spanish Phrygian: 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 b7 8

This scale will cause the opposite sex to clamor for your, ahem,
attention. Best used in small doses...

    >Egyptian: 1 2 4 5 b7 8

Your listeners will have a sudden urge to be bitten by an asp...

    >Japanese: 1 b2 4 5 b6 8

This scale plays golf religiously... and will make your audience want to
drink Sake out of pine boxes. Done at the same time, this can be most
    entertaining...

    and finally...

    >Chinese: 1 2 3 5 6 8
    > 1 3 #4 5 7 8

Half an hour after playing this scale, you have a desire to put all of
the leftovers in your refrigerator in cardboard boxes. You then eat them
for lunch the next day, assuring yourself on indigestion. Yet you keep
    playing it...

Sorry about the bandwidth waste, but this was too good to pass up...

Hello everyone, it's BABS. I was looking through a local (Rochester, NY)
entertainment guide (Freetime Magazine) when I noticed the following
    article.

    Images & Words

Images and Words provides the Ultimate Dream Theater tribute.

The band has the highest opinion of the national recording artist, Dream
Theater, feeling that they have not only brought progressive rock to a
higher technical standard, but have re-defined the genre by combining the
traditional progressive sounds of Rush, Yes and Genesis with that of
heavier artists like Queensryche, Metallical and Pantera.

Images and Words, upstate New York's only Dream Theater tribute band, is
dedicated to performing songs from all of Dream Theater's LP's - When Dream
and Day Unite, Images & Words, Awake and A Change of Seasons - as well as
unreleased songs from live and studio imports. The band consists of:
Gregg Horst (vocals), Tony Vinci (guitar), Cliff LeBeau (drums), Greg
Putnam (bass) and Rich DellaPietra (keyboards).

Ok, so my question to everyone on this list is - has anybody ever heard of
these guys before? I'm puzzled by this - a DT tribute band?

Most brilliant post in AGES ! That is what I meant by parodies on Dream Theater lyrics, only better than I ever imagined they could be :-) Please keep 'em coming :-))

On the *other* hand, I've been having a major throat problem, for the last 6-7 weeks... It just got a whole lot worse from laughing about that post :-)

    > Joe Kruger, you are truly a God... I am in pain from laughing so hard!

You're probably kidding about being in pain... I'm NOT (OUCH!) /me hands Mr. Joe Kruger the award for best Ytse-post of 1997. _____

    > Has anyone out there heard Fish's new "Sunsets on Empire" CD?

Yup, been listening to it for the last two months now. I even got a personal invitation from Fish, to meet him at the Dutch fanclub concert for a few beers. I got two free tickets, backstage passes and some pretty cool signatures... "To the Itch, love fish" :-) (I'll try to put some pix of the gig on my page)

    > Is it worth purchasing in your opinion?

FUCK YEAH ! So far, it's the best album I've heard this year :-) Yeah that's right, I think I love it even *more* than Marillion's new CD ('This Strange Engine', also brilliant... as usual).

The US version has the video of "Brother 52" on it, in Quick Time format. In the video, you can see Fish getting his latest tattoo. (his new logo)

If you are thinking of checking out Fish' solo albums, either buy "Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors" (still kinda Marillion-ish) or "Sunsets on Empire". IMO, they're both brilliant. The other stuff is also good, but not nearly as great as "Vigil" and "SoE".

You can get some wavs or real audios on the Wilderness of Mirrors site (Official Fish website) at http://www.livjm.ac.uk/fish/

*All* of them :-) But I'd start with "The Best of Both Worlds"... "BoBW" is a 2 cd compilation album, with Fish on disc 1 and Hogarth on disc 2. Let me know which songs you like best, so I can suggest what cd you could try next. Also, every EMI Marillion release, will be remastered and re-released with a bonus CD, so maybe you should wait for that. My favourite Marillion album is Brave, which is also my all-time favourite album. But do me one favour... NO "Marillion sucks" posts, until you've given them a fair chance :-) It usually takes people some time to get into their music. But when they do...

And Skadz DID kick him off the list. If people like that Farber guy don't get the attention they want, all they will do is try harder ! Farber did that by posting *three* of those bullshit posts on *one* digest. Ignoring a problem usually doesn't make it go away. _____

There's already a page with pictures of regular #Ytsejam (IRC) visitors on the "Under A Cyber Moon" website at :

Doing a similar page for the entire list will be a LOT of work. You also never know if the people on your page are still on the list. I have the same problem with my Ytsejam Birthday Calendar on Itchy's Homepage :-/
