Hey, there is NOTHING wrong with the "Smoot" thing! It lets me know

I can't believe that someone said that Dave Weckl tries too hard. If
that's the case, then Mike Portnoy tries too hard, too! Just because
someone has mastered their instrument doesn't mean they've tried too hard.

Anyway, IMO, I think if there is someone out there who could beat
Portnoy's ass in drumming, it is Weckl. He has such precision and a
strong feel of keeping the time and such, esp. for jazz!!

I played to MANY Dave Weckl tunes in my private lessons in high school,
and that is some of the TOUGHEST drumming I've ever had to play to.
TOUGHER than RUSH, and even perhaps Dream Theater (although I've never
tried playing double bass....). Dave Weckl plays some kicks that sound
like a double bass kick, even though he doesn't play double bass. The
    man is AMAZING!!

    Just my fat, humble opinion....

    hey all;

    i was browsing through cdnow's catalog (http://www.cdnow.com) and i
found this listing for a Braindance video:

    Braindance
    "Live at Oliv Twis"
    Fries Entertainment

so... does ANYONE know if this is the same Braindance that's been
mentioned here by myself and several others in the past? the NYC
based band that released "Fear Itself"? it's one of my favorite
cds... i'd freak out if they actually had a live video available...

any help would be *greatly* appreciated. thanks.

I wouldn't limit it to just RPG games. I just got Blood, and it comes
with a bonus CD that has a Type O Negative video on it (supposed to be
the theme of the games, or something. :)). Diablo has some quiet, gothic
    background stuff in the caves.

But my all time favorite is the background music on NHL 96. Now *that's*
    a theme song!

    Hi everyone,

I was going through different e-zines today. I came upon one called Edge of Time(I forgot if it was 'Time' or not). Anyway, I started going through their interview section(hehe, you'll love this). And there was this band called "Spinal Architect." So, I start going through the interview, and, these guys keep mentioning that they only try to sound like "good progressive" bands(remember that line :). Next thing I know they start going off on how they tried to sound like Qr & CG, and since Qr & CG sound "so" comerical(sp?)(That means they sound too comerical, too ;), that they had to try to sound like *another* band(see a trend here? :). Then the interviewers start saying band names and SA is supposed to say how they like them. Ok, FW got some praise...on DT...well...hmm, er..."The first album is the best. "Awake" sucks. First, it's too long..." That's the whole quote. Now, I don't care what they care is good or bad. But what really bugs me is that they say "First," and there's no 2nd or 3rd or anything!!! I can tell I hate this band already! ;)

Everyone knows that. You didn't actually think DT *wrote* the instrumental section of Metropolis did you? Hell no, they ripped it off of Super Mario Bros! Especially level 1-2. There's also a Savatage song (I forget which, but it's on Handful of Rain) that sounds a lot like some of the music from one of the Final Fantasy games.
