    Hey Gang -

Just have a really quick Queensryche question here: does anybody have a
transcription of what Geoff says exactly in the middle of "Roads To Madness"?
It is my all-time favorite QR tune, and I'm dying to know. I have the lyric
sheet for the album, but they omitted the speaking part in the middle.
     Thanks!

    - Matt T.

P.S. - Does anyone know what happened to the band Mutha's Day Out? "My Soul
Is Wet" is an AWESOME album... and I haven't heard "boo" from 'em since!

Heya everybody! I don't post much on here all on account of my crap ass
server. It's pretty moody and won't let me post on the jam sometimes,
but that's not what I'm "waisting bandwidth" for in this post....

It seems our good buddy Vince found a "Jive" machine, wherein you can
submit any number of phrases, sentences, or in this case, songs, and get
the "jive" translation. Is this the first major technological leap for
    Ebonics? Who knows....

You all should enjoy this one. I just pray Vince didn't send it to the
jam before I did. Read on, and live prosperously.

    And feed your caribou.

Most cool. As a big King Crimson fan, I'm looking forward to the album

JP only using the 7-string on two songs kinda sucks though.

    Hey all:
There has been a great deal of discussion as to drum kit size and I wanted
    to add my .02....
    Here goes:

Drum kit size isn't a mainstream thing. It's a personal choice. If you
are a good enough drummer to make a decision on how well you want to play
your drumset, it's up to you....
Mike Portnoy: A large drumset man. I have narrowed down (in my opinion)
why Mike needs a large drumset:
First, his main music influence (drum wise) has been Neil Peart...Neil is
    known for his oversized drumsets..
second, Mike does a great deal of auxilary percussion (his drum set is not
all drums) Lastly, I feel that Mike would have a totally different sound
and interpretation of his drum set if it was smaller.. That's about it... J

Did anyone catch Ozzy, Marylin Manson, and Twiggy on Howard Stern tonite?
Pretty funny. Manson discussed all the rumors about him and said how they
were false. He really seems like a normal guy when he's outside of the
band. After the show Stern and his crew watched the episode and noticed
that Twiggy (I don't know what instrument he plays in Manson) was picking
his nose during the whole interview. Members of Stern's crew, after
finding this out, immediately washed their hands. Gross.

I was lookimg at my crucifix all day, but I couldn't find 'Sex is Death'
anywhere. John musta been smokin' something that day... and it wasn't
cigarettes, if ya know what I mean...

It'd be cool if LaBrie could sing even higher, because then in a concert he
could hit a really high note, and the tubes in Petrucci's amp would crack.
Then Petrucci would get mad and beat the shit out of him. Then again, that
wouldn't be so cool, although LaBrie would probably get a good laugh out of
    it.

They sell sushi at Wendy's in Japan? Wow!

If I were Petrucci i'd hold back on the shredding, because I think the guys
were trying to tell him something with that 'Exagerator' pun.

Tht girl on the I&W cover is pretty cute... can't wait till she grows up.

Hey! I got the new DT cd! But it's not called Falling into Infinity. It's
called Altura's Mercy, or something like that....

(ok, so that was more of a blast than a deep thought, but I'm haveing fun
    here:P )

If the guys write another instrumental, they'll probably give it some weird
arabian name, like 'Retaeht Maerd' or something.

    as i step on

full of peanuts, hair, and other stuff
wishing noseplugs to both my nostrils

    i search my glass
    beneath my hand

not knowing the truth of that damn canine
that shat the path i walked
    harboring inclusion
i'll keep on swearing like an old fart

    with an aftertaste

    first off......

survived yet another ny music festival. it was awesome. anyone else here into
charlie hunter? that guy fucked my ass with his 8 string guitar (3 bass, 5
guitar), and it hurt. he's amazing.

of course, i wish there were mor prog bands (the 2 that i missed b/c of the
mingus big band) isn't enough, esp. with 320 other acts.

    but, in an interesting segue....
i finally discovered the pleasures of irc. of course, it was too late for mr.
porntoy, but it was cool, y'all. the comments about being in a prog band, as
bad as it sounds coming from him, are pretty true. i think this is something
you can expect if you play any style of music, but with the apparent coolness
of prog glaring into the faces of mtv, even more so.

that don't mean we should all start sucking our own cocks just yet. if you
are ready to starve, or if you have a good day job that pays your bills,
there's nothing that says you still can't rock with the rest of them. hence,
my decision to beat myself into a pulp in law school. but seriously, as i
imagine portnoy (this time i'll spell it right) said, it's hard. even if you
got all the bitches wanting your nutsack.

speaking of nutsacks, i read mr. metzger's reviews of the cd's he received.
hey- you got my thing on cd *wink*? yo, hook me up with a copy.

the scary thing, mark (which i didn't tell you), is that that shit copy you
have comes from the SOUNDBOARD of the club i was at when i did that. the
douchebags in charge apprently decided they only needed the right speaker,
which is why it all comes out on that side. i'm sorry that the copy sucks
hairy moose cock, but that is the only known taped-recording of the band.

and as for the annoying voice who "chit chats while the others are
    playing..."

    ya moms, ho! ;-)

    peace out.

Just wanted to emerge from my semi-lurker status to say thanks for a
great chat with Mike Portnoy -- it worked quite well indeed. Skadz,
Dr. Mosh, DreamEvil and the other folks "backstage" did a good job of
krrping it moving despite some minor technical problems, and it was
great seeing a lot of old names and faces that I haven't seen on IRC
in a while (let alone in person, eh Bafu?) And of course, extra
special thanks to Mike P. for Taking the Time for us. I think I
speak for all of us when I say the effort's appreciated by all of us
    patiently-waiting fans. :)

7 songs done and two more weeks in the studio! Rahhh!

    Me neither!

The only way I was able to watch a sparrow fall was to pick it off of the branch with an air rifle. Am I doing something wrong? I hope not, because it was kind of fun.

The Eiffel tower was just temporarily moved to Tokyo in an effort to piss Mike off. Obviously it worked, but he saw through the scam.. Mike's smarter than he looks.

John Myung doesn't talk very much, and you know, that's kind of strange.

One day while staring at the sky, the clouds swept in front of it and made me angry. Never argue with clouds, they won't listen.

If Derek did every blonde in the world I'm quite sure that he'd be very tired when he was finished.

I didn't know spiders wished to speak. I usually crush them before they have a chance to say anything.

If I were James, I would cut all of my hair off and glue it to my car. Then I'd drive around town growling at people pretending to be a grizzly bear. And when people asked what I was doing I would tell them I am a grizzly bear and growl at them.

hey, what's up all? I finally got myself back on the jam in like ages! Missed what had to be atleast 1000 jams. Just wanted to say hi to the jammers that I lost touch with since changing my E-Mail address. You all know who you are.

With DT content. I'm so pissed that none of you IRC dudes told me about the Mike Portnoy thing that occured the other day! That lone occurance is why I'm back here. Don't want to be left out in the dark no more...Anyway, I read the log and damn, it was an interesting conversation. Mike seems like a real cool dude and I don't know if you guys have done this yet because I haven't been on the jam in ages, but I just have to thank one of the greatest drummers for doing what he did for us, ytsejammers! Thanks alot Mike! You did not have to do this and it was so cool that you did!

I'm gonna go now and read my first 3 jams that I got since my return and check back with you all later. Hope to see you all on IRC! My nickname is Augie and lately been back in #ytsejam. BTW, the rumors that were flying in #ytsejam about me is true. Won't go into it, but it's true. :) later!

    Augie

p.s. MIKE PORTNOY, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU. YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE IN CONTACTING SOMEONE THAT I THINK YOU MIGHT KNOW FROM YOUR OLD DAYS BACK WHEN YOU PLAYED WITH RISING POWER! PLEASE IF YOU'RE READING THIS, E-MAIL ME BECAUSE I FEEL SO GUILTY ABOUT HAVING A COPY OF A PIECE OF THIS BOYS HISTORY AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE IT! I KNOW HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO HIM. I JUST HAVE TO RETURN HIM THE CD THAT HE LENT ME!
