At 06:00 PM 7/24/97 -0700, Wise man (sarcastically) say:

Funny thing is...this is the standard idea most people have of
Metal...Metallica...and in this EXACT context. Sad but true.
A Gibson "Exploder"? HE GOT THE GUITAR FROM THE MILAN '92 SHOW!!!

it's tha great hits of barbershop chorus! Oy...listenin' to a bunch of

The two singers sing very much alike."

wasn't until I pulled Metallica out of nowhere she said, "Yeah! That's it!
It was that song that got nominated for a Grammy."

heh... Just look at me. The first time I heard Marillion, I was like,
"Hey, this sounds like Phil Collins!" But then again... Fish kinda did in
"At That time of the Night" for a bit. :P The fact however that Rush was
even involved in the discussion was meritable indeed. Most people I've
shown them to say, "What is this pussy shit?" So, for everyone who wanted
the definiton of prog, here it is.

Prog (prawg) n.: 1. Pussy shit. "So that's what you call that? Prog?
Sounds like pussy shit to me" 2. Music that sounds like it was written for
wimps. "This guy sings like George Michaels. It's pussy shit!" v.: 1. To
suck. "This progs." 2. To act in the manner of a wuss. 3. To beg on a
street corner. (Syn.) Proghead: I person who likes prog or likes to prog.
Prog Metal (1): Music that is written for angry wusses. Prog Metal(2): An
    extremely weak metallurgic alloy.

98 Rock ain't that bad. I was quite surprised when I heard them do
"dreamline" on the radio. Before playing it, the DJ said (paraphrased):
"we're probably the only station in Baltimore that has the balls to play
    Rush?"

And besides it's a lot better than that pussy station called HFS.

: Welcome to the music industry. :) I think of it as corporate rock
: syndrome: People are pummeled with the same fuckin' songs allllllllll day

: and alllllll night long (Hell, I turned my TV on and the same exact video

: from the Wallflowers was almost in unison on both Vh1 and MTV), and even
: if the general public thinks ill of it at first, they're reminded by the
: "trend setters" at MTV that it's cool to listen to this music. Sort of a

Well, I see that as part of the problem. There's also the fact that most
people don't need or want music to be challenging or complex. All they want
is a nice beat to move their booty to. Who cares if the artist sold out,
or only know three chords on his guitar. If its catchy and they can dance
to it, its good enough for them. We're the weirdos who need music to be
more than that...the ones who can't stop buying CD's, and constantly
looking for music that will move your mind as well as your booty.

Here's a challenge: try dancing to the instrumental part of Metropolis.:)

: It's all a necessary evil really...the "business" half of "music
: business." If there's a trend goin' around, the industry's going to ride

: it 200%, because, in summation...
    :
    : It's all about money. >:)
    :

Yeah, but you can work yourself around it.... it's difficult, but possible.
You really have to know the business side of music to be able to do what
you want, and not end up broke... of course, don't expect to become a
    millionair:)

DDTT: Boy, that Feeah chic comes up a lot in DT's music. At least now it
makes sense, because the whole world was blinded by her.

In reply to Jeff E.'s request for Journey Info. A quick check of
Journey's Home page says that the reunion tour, scheduled to begin in
April of this year, has been postponed indefinitely due to Steve Perry's
hip injury. Check out Journey's website at www.journey.simplenet.com/
for more info. (and all kinds-a-neet Journey related stuff!!!)

Hey, I'll make this short and sweet. Are you in the Met Club? Do you
call the black album by it's real name? Do you know who the original
bassist and/or guitarist for Metallica were? Have you ever been to a
Metallica show? Have you any lyrics memorized?

I think I made my case. If you have only now gotten into Metallica, or
any band for that matter, I find it hard to say that you are the biggest
fan. I bet that might even offend people that were in the pits at the
concerts for Kill 'em All (ever heard of that album? :))

Had to get that off my chest.

    MEGADETH LAUNCHES TOUR ON INTERNET

Megadeth may be launching its U.S. tour in Las Vegas Thursday night, but the
band will mark the occasion on the Internet.

Dave Mustaine and company will hit their Megadeth, Arizona website (at
hollywoodandvine.com/megadeth) at 6 p.m. Eastern time for a live, two hour,
RealAudio chat with fans. Users will be able to actually hear the band
address their inquiries, and will be able to see animations of the band.

Considering that the band recently released a top ten album, "Cryptic
Writings," and is about to embark on a tour, there will probably be no
shortage of subject matter during the chat. However, to add grist for the
chat mill, the band will donate a guitar to the Hard Rock Cafe immediately
after the online event, and will go on to meet with the woman chosen as the
second annual "Miss Megadeth" at the band's show that night.

If you can't make the chat, Pollstar says you can actually see the band in
the flesh on the following dates:

    Hey gang,

Sorry I haven't been keeping up. . .my wife just deleted about 6 weeks'
worth of back 'jams. . .but I feel I must comment on Tuesday night's
    Fish-stravaganza. Oy-yoy-yoy-yoy!
Now, I am a bit of a Fish fan, but not a huge one (well, maybe after
this. . .). I'm mainly into his work with Marillion. But jinkies,
Scoob, the man puts on one fabu-tastic show! 2 1/2 hours of a band on
fire, and audience singing along and following clapalong instructions
like a machine. . .ever seen a band used to playing arenas in a club?
(Maiden springs to mind. . .) Suffice it to say, a mind-blowing
experience. His band was awesome, especially the new guitarist. . .even
if you think his solo discs are on the mellow side, you should check him
out if you can because the energy level at this show was unbelievable.
Now I'm going to have to get some of those live CD's he put out. . .

Also coming up in a couple of weeks: Masters of Reality! Golly, guys,
we thought you were dead! Anyone heard their new material yet?

Someone was outside the Fish show handing out flyers for the upcoming
Marillion show! Maybe I'll check that out too. . .

And finally, to all you fucking bastards (pardon me tongue) who didn't go
to Prog Rock Nite and let it die even though it was FREE, for fuck's
sake, I ran into Bob Wolf at the Fish show and he told me that it's
starting up again at a club in Brunswick NJ next month. . .I forget which
club, but he's supposed to email me about it. Let's not let this thing
disappear again, folks! Sure, not every band that played was great, but
you didn't even need to ask for a refund, and where else can you walk in
and pick up things like the original Spock's Beard disc, US Asia,
Braindance, Raphael Rudd, etc. etc. etc. etc. all at very reasonable
    prices?????????
Resurrect Prog Rock Nite AND GO TO IT, WE'LL HAVE A JOLLY FUCKIN'
    TIME!!!!!!!

This has been a public service announcement from D.J. Kuul A
