Hey all, It's funny how if you play that telephone game (the one where
you start a message at the one end of the room and see how the message
gets manipulated and twisted on the other end) how the message gets
really screwed up (sometimes on purpose) I wonder if that happens with
the jam?? I posted this at the end of one of my posts:

I promise next time that when I have something to share about DT I
    will post it... Lata, J

    Then someone posted tonight:

I promise next time that when I have something to share someone can
    shoot me. Lata, J

    Funny what happens, huh??
Just thought that I would share, J

    >>It all depends...what era was Savatage in when you started liking them?

I haven't been listening forever. I first heard them just after Streets was
released. Gutter Ballet was that first song actually. Bought Streets the
    next day.

    >>I'll be checking out the self-serve gas stations to see if any gems have
    >>snuck in there.

We've got a few Savatage ones at ours. Power o/t Night & Gutter Ballet at
    Speedways all over.

    >>Somewhere In Time/Believe (9:02)

No fair. Is this two songs? I always considered it as one, but only to tell
people I am playing my ONE song., if we're taking turns. Actually, I also
incude Heal my Soul, for I call these one of the best trilogies in the
    history of music.

    >>Anyone heard from the guys from Triumph lately

I heard Never Surrender on the radio twice this week -- along with Fight
the Good Fight. Here's the shit: Those two times were the only times I was
even near a radio. I don't listen to radio stations. However these two
instances I was in the presence of someone who does. Must be making a come
back. Is it popular in some movie soundtrack? Does the DJ just like
Triumph? Must be the latter, cuz I also heard in the same sittings... lots
of old Rush and that one song by VH. You know... Running w/ the Devil. Gee
    nobody plays that anymore.

I think I'm going to turn on that station and see what they're playing,
just for kicks. I'll let you know. Now let me figure out how this thing
turns on. Ok got it... oh. Metallica. Not sure what song. I don't listen to
Metallica. (however it sounded pretty good before I knew it was them. maybe
I'll sit here and give it a listen. ) Ok. here's the words. Somebody tell
me what song this is in case they don't announce it.

Nevermind. I just heard the last two minutes -- all instrumental. I think I
heard the word "goodbye" in there before the solo started, if that gives
you any clue, but I'm not counting on it. Now they're playing Zeppelin. Now
there's a (sarcastic) surprise! This station is the "Every other song is
Zeppelin" capital of the world. Now that Zeppelin's over... oh a comedian
for a DJ. Announcing the Wall Flowers. (Who the hell are the Wall Flowers?)
The DJ says, "This guy can't sing. He just does it because of his name."
Actually, it doesn't sound bad. I bet a million it aint a new song, though.
Ok... now G'nR's Paradise City. I never liked this. But since it's been so
many years it's not annoying like it used to be. I think I've had enough
radio for now, though. Let me go back to playing Virgin Steele.

Anyway, the moral of this story is "Yea, what the hell is up with Triumph?"
By the way Rik hasn't been with them for awhile am I correct?

Nope, but I did see where they're playing a place in the St. Louis
area (Pop's in Sauget, IL) June 19. Can't say that I care for
Slaughter much at all, so i doubt I'll go.

P.S. If there's anyone in the St. Louis area that digs
traditional Irish folk music, make it down to McGurk's Pub in Soulard
before next Saturday. The band that's there this week just KILLS.

To publish a transcription and distribute it widely, you have to get
permission from the copyright owners. So, even though DT did the medley,
you don't just need *their* permission, you'd need Pink Floyd's, Kansas',
Queen's etc. I'm sure the complete versions of many of the songs have
already been transcribed, but I *think* you need permission for each
separate time someone publishes a new transcription of the same song.

Perhaps a few of the songs' owners are refusing permission to have those
songs transcribed, thereby holding up the transcription of the entire "Big
    Medley."

"Oh that this too, too solid flesh would melt", thaw and resolve itself
into a dew, etc etc. I knew that speech once, back in my days as a thespian.

Hamlet still isn't as good as Henry V though... "Once more unto the breech

    Not Latin. It's English.

"Oh that this too, too solid flesh would melt..."

It's part of Shakespeares' "Hamlet," I presume.

The part that was cut off was "and resolve itself into dew."

KorgX3 said that the ending for TTT is:
    >"Oh, that this too... Solid flesh... Would Melt *click*"

If I recall correctly, JLB says the word "too" two times. In other
words, the line is "Oh, that this too, too solid flesh would melt
*Click*" I say that because aren't there 10 half-notes and each syllable
    falls on a half-note?

One other thing -- I actually checked the FAQ and Michael Kizer's
Unofficial Song Book Web page ;) and this is what it said: "Oh that this
too, too solid flesh would melt." So there ya go. :) Hope it helps!

I third that. Thanks to Detroit for showing the world that the Philly
CheeseSteaks were only lucky to get there by beating half-assed teams
(Pittsburgh, Buffalo) and a half-hospitalized one (Rangers). And also
thanks for showing us that The Flyers are nothing more than a bunch of

Well, I got my shipment of cds in the mail and I figured I
would pass on the good, or in some cases bad, word. First
of all I listened to Bruce Dickinson's "Accident of Birth."
I don't think I have heard a negative review of this one, and
I am not going to write the first. This is heavy, groovin' metal.
No more alternative-y leanings for Bruce. His voice shines, and
the production is crisp. My only nitpicky complaint is an
otherwise nice song, "Road to Hell," which has a screwy chorus:
"The road to hell is full of good intentions" - now, we all know
it's supposed to be "paved" with good intentions. It's sorta
annoying. Otherwise, I say "buy it!"

The second cd was Chastain's "In Dementia." This sounds like any
other Chastain (the band) cd. Kate French's vocals cut like a rusty
razor. If you saw a picture of her, you wouldn't think she could
sound like *this*. Otherwise, this cd is standard. If you have heard
any other cd by this band, save your cash, unless, like me, you are
an idiot who likes to have complete discographies of EVERYONE!

The third was Bill Ward's "When the Bough Breaks." I really loved his
last cd, "All Along the Way." This is much less diverse, and much more
inane, especially lyrically. It's not a bad listen, but I would recommend
saving your cash. Not many special guests, either.

The fourth cd was Flotsam and Jetsam's "High." I am not sure what to say
about this cd. Taken on a purely "metal" level, it's not bad. Fairly straight-
ahead, borderline thrash. If this had come out around the time of "No Place
for Disgrace" or so, I might not have thought twice. But, after the more
experimental brilliance of "Drift" and to a lesser degree "Cuatro," this
sorta falls flat. It seems like a step back to me. I like it ok, but the
production seems more lame, and it has that cheap Metal Blade feel to it.
The packaging, while some may view it as a nice homage to 80's metal bands,
seems cheesily retro to me. I am sure that those who wish metal bands would
never change, and still have the same denim jacket with the "Kill 'em All"
patch on its back, will love this. I don't dislike it, I am just disappointed.

    That's all for now.

Congratulations to Mike Vernon, Conn Smythe trophy winner, and the rest of
the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings.

This has been a great sports year for me. The championships of the two
professional sports I follow, the NFL and NHL, were won by the teams I
have loved for years. For the first time in my lifetime, my team has won
a championship. It had been since 67 for the Packers, and 55 for the Wings.
Let it not be so long again! And a hearty "fuck-off" to all fair-weather fans
out there who now wear the colors of the teams with which I have suffered, and
claim to be big fans. Bandwagoneers need not apply.

Been a hockey fan all my sports-aware life, been a Red Wings fan that
entire time, suffered through the 40 point season in 1985, suffered
through the playoffs defeats after having the best regular season record,
and all I can say is FINALLY!!!!!!

and i just thought I'd exult a bit, please forgive me

[etc.] This reminds me of the Birch Hill Home for the Holidays show.
James (LaBrie, that is) said something in between songs once like "Hey, so
the Devils have a shot at the cup this year, eh?" And part of the crowd
started cheering wildly. Then, a bigger part of the crowd started booing
wildly, and James was like, "Huh?" I think he realized at that point how
many Rangers and Isles fans were in attendance, and said, "Oh, fuck it.
    I'm not gettin' into it."

Similar story: I was at a Rush show at the Nassau coliseum, and the
singer for Candlebox was wearing a Rangers jersey. I thought I was going
to get dead in the ensuing melee, amid the "1940!" and "Let's Go Rangers!"
    chants.

Moral of the story: We fans of prog can generally stick together like
glue when defending the name of our favorite music, but we should NOT be
    allowed to discuss hockey.

Hey, so the Mets are fighting for second place in the NL east...
